Places we love, with a special focus on our neighbourhood
I have tried to put together a list of the best and most convenient spots on our area and a few farther afield that we know are worth the trek (though from our place most places in the city are less than 40 minutes on transit).
The coffee shop with the best view of the city in the city (that I know of at least). Located close to the most westerly end of our street this picturesque coffee spot has delicious pastries (arrive early on weekends for a deadly cinnamon bun) and great coffee, a relaxed atmosphere and usually a horde of friendly folks and dogs outside enjoying the view. Healthy pre-made sandwiches and salads to go are available for a convenient pack lunch. Even a baguette in a pinch

A colourful and delicious place to eat, this Pakistani cuisine restaurant features an impressive size outdoor patio in summer but is a great place to eat any time of year. Fresh tandoor baked naan, a yummy if not a bit greasy saag paneer, and if you love meat... the skewers are some of our faves. Pro tip: Don't get the mango lassi if mangoes are out of season.

Further afield - For (in my opinion) the best beers in town head to blood brothers, a small place with grungy charm... located in an industrial area its a hopping place that in the summer has a "patio" (some wood benches outside) - no real food (just peanuts?) - but oh the beers! and you can find pizza down the street at north of Brooklyn or just stand and have a couple tasters and leave with a bag full of delicious-ness from the bottle shop. This brewery is in the west end and would work on a brew crawl to Bellwoods for food

Transit - get a presto card
We are close to so many transit lines you can head just about anywhere quickly.  We recommend guests take one of the street car lines across the city for a sightseeing tour and get off and on wherever they like what they see. If you’re arriving via the subway, grab a presto card for easy access to buses street cars and subway - with a presto card you get a two hour hop on off fare for $3.30 - just tap your presto when changing vehicles.

If you have a lot of suitcases and want to save $ The UP train is nice to sit on and easy to get from the airport with suitcases it has wifi, it will cost you $9 with a Presto card $12 it takes 25-30 minutes to get to Union and then you could take a cab (20 mins) from there saving you a some $ vs. coming all the way from the airport.

Kensington market is fun, young, delicious
Head to Kensington market to check out some vintage stores, eat good cheese and empanadas, shop for groceries and leather. Some Sundays the streets are closed to cars.

Bike share is a great way to get around for cheap
We are well located for bike share. and Toronto is FLAT and an easy place to get around on a bike.
If you search "bike share" on g maps it will tell you how many bikes are at each station (and where the stations are).
Bikgin is quick and easy to the beach, amazing trails, Cabbagetown, little india, Leslieville and the Leslie spit, distillery district or Corktown or Yonge-Dundas square. (in fact most of best parts the city are within 40 minutes bike)

A city of ravines, beaches and a city island
Toronto is a city of ravines and we are lucky to also live by the lake. Near us is the Don Valley which is a giant park which connects to the water and to many other ravines in the city. This can be a fun place to ride a bike, but we also recommend you head down to Cherry beach and the waterfront bike trails. Heading east is Leslie spit, Ashbridge's bay beach and Kew beach or heading West takes you to the ferry docks that go to the Toronto island.
Toronto island has several great beaches one of which is clothing optional.
