The column features 125 feet of artwork celebrating three historic events: the discovery of the Columbia River by Captain Robert Gray; the end of the Lewis and Clark Expedition; and the arrival of the ship Tonquin, events which shaped the emerging state of Oregon. But what you really want is to see the view from the top. Well worth the drive.
