TAPAS

"Los Vascos - The Basques" is the name given by the people of Benidorm to this area of Basque and Mediterranean bars from Plaza de la Constitución to Calle Santo Domingo. These streets, rather bustling, take us to an environment much more typical of any city in the Basque Country.

LA DEHESA DE DON SATURNINO

: Santo Domingo, 8. The strong point of local style in Bilbao is the Basque tapas: it has almost 200 tapas, fusing the tradition with the transformation capacity of its owner, Eleazar Valcuende.

GAZTELUTXO

Santo Domingo 7. It is a small bar specialized in cod, both in the form of tapa, tortilla or cooked to bizkaina and anchovies in vinegar. Its specialty is pinchos, mainly cod but also montaditos. This bar was a semi-finalist in the 2016 Benidorm tapas competition with his Bacalao al Club Ranero, a cod al pilpil with piperrada

BIARRITZ

Calle Santo Domingo, 17. Also Basque, but on the French side, which serves snails a la bourguignone, oysters of Arcachon and other delicacies in a tiny place with terrace. All of these locations are well located within a 15 minute walk from the apartment.

CHURROS

"Churro" is a sweet Spanish snack consisting of a strip of fried dough dusted with sugar In all Spain is typical to take a good chocolate with churros. I indicate two sites that are 10-15 minutes walk from the apartment: 1.- The first or perhaps most famous place is the "Chocolatería Valor" which is located on Calle Lepanto, 2 in Benidorm.

PAELLA AND ARROCES - RICE DISHES

Almost at every corner of Beniform there is a bar or restaurant offering rice. In this section we want to expose some locals that go a little further and offer careful dishes with rice as protagonist This is my selection to you. They are 10-15 min walking distance from the aparment: "RESTAURANTE ENDAVANT" Located in the old town, in the street of the Market. It has recently been reformed in a minimalist and modern way. It has specialized in rice dishes in the area and in fideuá with a la carte menu. It also has a cafeteria service.

ARROZ A BANDA

Typical Valencian dish, originally from a town called Denia( I live in Valencia). The ingredients are squid, octupus, and shrimp, azafran, red pepper, rice, garlic, tomato, and fish broth. In the past, the squid, octupus, and gambas were not included and the rice was made with the broth alone. It is called "a banda" because the fish used to make the stock is served apart ("a banda" in the Valencian language), but never before the rice. This plate was common among fishermen for obvious reasons. I have seen the translation, "Fisherman's rice" and I think it sounds nice. I have also seen "rice in

COLD SOUPS

GAZPACHO & SALMOREJO All of these soups are based off of a foundation of garlic, olive oil, salt, vinegar, and usually day-old bread. From this simple starting point it’s easy to add more ingredients yet still be able to appreciate their flavors. Featuring almonds, tomatoes, or the pick of the garden, these cold soups are a light and refreshing way to try out Spanish cuisine on a hot summer day.

ALTEA

Altea is without doubt one of the most charming towns of the Costa Blanca North. It's old town is packed full of character and the impressive church with its blue and white tiled dome roof has to be one of the most photographed landmarks of the area.

EL ALBIR BEACH AND LIGHTHOUSE

The small resort of Albir is situated between Altea and Benidorm, with many notable tourist attractions, local shops and a beach, lined by a long promenade. Albir's beach is a popular alternative to those in nearby Benidorm, with a wide range of leisure and recreational attractions available, including playground areas for young children. Lighthouse Walk I strongly recomend to do this walk.

ALGAR WATERFALLS

Costa Blanca could not really be marked as complete without a visit to the unspoilt beauty spot of the waterfalls of Algar, 10km from Albir and situated near the small inland town of Callosa d'en Sarria.

GUADALEST

Despite its relatively small site, the village of Guadalest has become a major tourist attraction in its own right. Around 15 km / 9 miles from nearby Benidorm, Guadalest has much to offer. Standing on a picturesque mountain top, much of the village has been carved out of the rock itself. Reached by a winding mountain road, the journey from Benidorm to Guadalest takes in some of the area's most stunning scenery. Guadalest is known for its 16th-century castle, with part of the village only accessible through a tunnel in the actual mountain.

AQUALANDIA WATER PARK

The beach of BenidormIs right inside the city and depending are where you are staying, you have convenient buses, can walk or drive there. The park offers all kinds of water activities for all members of the family. There are shaded areas, cafes or restaurants for eating or snack time and hammocks or chairs for time out. All the pools, be they large or small are well watched by qualified lifeguards and there is a first aid station for any emergency. It is a nice way to keep cool and watch the children have fun while you sit back a sip some Spanish refreshment.

TERRA MITICA

This theme park is relatively new, having been inaugurated in 2000 and proposing an ambitious project of making anybody and everybody travel back in time, back to the legendary civilizations that lived in the Mediterranean area. There are also two day and season passes. You can buy these tickets at banks, the department store El Corte Ingles, authorized kiosks and at the gate at the theme park. Just another fun spot to let your imagination go wild.

FESTILANDIA AMUSEMENT PARK AND TAKE THE TRAIN

There’s a small amusement park right in the center of Benidorm on Avenue Mediterraneo. Called Festilandia, it’s specifically for kids under 12, although older kids and adults are still welcome. Festilandia is a bit like an old-fashioned British or American amusement park from the 50s and 60s, with lots of kiddie rides, games to play, cotton candy, hot dogs and the like.
