This is the one of a handful of restaurants we’ve been returning to for more than ten years, both for excellent dinners and soul-satisfying brunches of dim sum and pho. Nothing could keep Chauncey away from this place’s catfish claypot dish. Nothing. They knock modern Vietnamese food out of the park. Generous happy hours and a new, great rooftop deck are things to take advantage of.

To eat pasta here is to be a part of a complete cycle: watch the dough being assembled, then rolled, then cut, then cooked, and, finally, consume it. They do it right. Take your time while you’re here - you won’t want it to end.

This place specializes in natural wines (which Emily is a freak about). Regardless of whether you are on the natural wine bandwagon or not, the food is pretty damn good here, especially considering the couple of hot plates and limited counter space they have to work with. Melrose Market, where Marsielle is located, is a great place to explore as well.

Many of these movie theaters are/were architectural gems built in the first half of the 20th century, and we’ve been going through the pain lately of seeing these disappear one by one. The Egyptian is one of the few that are still standing and kicking ass.
