Warm, cosy and rustic, this cafe with its big solid wood tables and chairs has a real hippie feel to it. Excellent english breakfast for around £7, and great scrambled eggs and, unsurprisingly, toast!

Lovely pub for lunch in the beer garden overlooking the sea from the top of the cliff. Friendly, but gets very busy in the summer, so there can be a long wait on food. Not a problem if you have time to soak in the view over a drink or two.

Proper old English country pub with a skittles alley at the back, where local farmers go for a pint at the end of the day. It's more a local's pub than a tourist pub, which is how they like it, but everyone is welcome as long as you don't go in with London Gastropub expectations on food or service! Always enjoyed going there.

Great beach & cliff walk. 20 min drive, tiny lanes can get clogged in summer. Huge shingle beach, high cliffs. Take change for the car park! 2 mile walk to Beer village w pubs and fishmonger on beach

One of my favourite things to do, alone or as a family, and we do it regularly.
The Aviator bar and restaurant has an outside seating area where you can sit and watch small plane after plane take off and land. Best one is the parachute plane and watching parachutists come down!

Stunningly beautiful coastal walk, whatever the weather. Watch for very strict car park enforcement, you will get a penalty if you don't pay. But it's only £1 per hour, cash or App, but beware of limited phone signal.
If you have about 4 hours to kill, and are fit enough to climb 600ft up a steep path, drive to Branscombe beach car park, walk up the steep hill (including the, count them, 111 steps at the top) all the way along the coast to the old fishing village of Beer, stop for a drink or lunch at the Anchor Inn, then walk back to Branscombe. It takes about 45min-1hr to walk each way.
