Downhill skiing is at 3 ski areas no more than 12 miles away. FYI, our published rate includes a required cleaning fee.
We have 2 flat screen smart TVs with DVD players with plenty of family friendly DVDs to watch or if you prefer there is a stereo in the dining area that has good FM reception. We offer free parking at the cabin. We have free high speed internet (the fastest in the area) and Wi-Fi. We are dog and kid friendly. A large book collection allows relaxed reading. Lots of games, such as giant carpet checkers, and puzzles will keep the kids happy. You can to challenge your friends to a game of pool using the pool table in the lower level recreation room. The recreation room also has a child safe dart board, a foosball table, air hockey table, poker table and games such as bingo, dominoes and Mexican Train. Mom will love having a vacuum, ironing board and iron handy. Depending on the time of the year, Dad will love the nearby sports- golf and fishing (the best in the area), snow skiing (3 resorts) and snow tubing. For the kids there is zip lining, whitewater rafting, ice skating, Tweetsie Railroad rides, gem mining and caving. Mom will love the wineries, gourmet dining, antique, outlet and unique one-of a kind shops in Blowing Rock. Boone has great spas for some pampering. Everyone will like hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, driving the the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, climbing Grandfather Mountain (6000 ft high), exploring both Linville Caverns and Mystery Hill. Mast General Store and Horn in the West Outdoor Drama have something for everyone. Farmers and flea markets are everywhere. Fresh produce is at vegetable stands along the roads. Many local towns host Blue Grass music festivals throughout the year. Fall colors are spectacular. Appalachian State Univ. has both sports and musical events. Lees-McRae College provides wonderful theater productions throughout the year. Banner Elk hosts the famous Wooly Worm Festival.
As our guest you will have access to the entire house with only three exceptions. There are three small closets labeled "Private" which contain our "stuff" and are locked.
On the kitchen counter you will find a white notebook that is full of information as well as a purple notebook with many restaurant menus. Also, in case you missed it, there is an $85.00 plus tax cleaning fee included in your rate quote so Alpine Log Cabin is always in immaculate condition. If applicable, there will be a $ 50 plus tax per pet fee (Dog [s] only - Because of allergy concerns cats are not allowed. The pet fee is collected separately.
Check in is 4 pm. on the day of your arrival. Check out is 11 am. on the day of your departure.
If you plan on bringing a dog(s) there is a $ 50 plus tax per dog fee that is collected separately. Since some of our regular guests are highly allergic to pet dander, this covers the added cost of equipment and labor needed to completely sanitize the cabin after you leave. Due to allergy considerations we do not allow cats.
Also this is a NON-SMOKING cabin. To save you having to be charged a hefty additional fee, if you or your guests plan on smoking please make reservations elsewhere.
We own in the Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Boone, North Carolina. We rent out the entire Alpine Log Cabin when we are not using it ourselves. The cabin features tons of channels on our smart TVs with DVD capability and also has free Netflix for our guests. In addition the cabin has High Speed Internet and Free WiFi. The cabin phone provides Unlimited Free Long Distance calling throughout the continental United States.
We are retired school teachers from Ohio. We live in a gated community called Royal Harbor 30 miles northwest of Orlando, Florida.
Carole volunteers at the local library; likes scrapbooking; sings in the church choir and our local chorus; is a member of Red Hats; a member of women's club; and enjoys tap dancing. Forrest, although "retired", spends his time volunteering as a Road Patrolman for the Lake County Sheriff's Office and is Commodore Emeritus of the Royal Harbor Yacht Club (our local boating club). We both enjoy geocaching, hiking, water skiing, bicycling, and snow skiing.
