This is a beautiful walk or cycle through a glaciated valley. It's about 7km long and starts at Kate Kearneys Cottage and finishes at The Black Valley. It's possible to get a boat from nearby Lord Brandon's Cottage to Ross Castle in Killarney town. This is called " The Gap Boat Trip" and is a beautiful day trip.

Take a day out to the Gap of Dunloe, stopping at Glengarriff and onto the picturesque town of Kenmare where you will find a good selection of cafes and restaurants offering locally sourced produce. There are some interesting shops in the town. Carry on through the rock tunnels over the Cork and Kerry mountains to Molls Gap where you will find the road to the Gap of Dunloe. A visit to the Torc Waterfall adds a special touch to the day.

Beautiful scenery. Kate Kearney's Cottage (Bar & Restaurant) and Heathers Restaurant are recommended for post-sightseeing food & drink.

Hire a bike from Killarney & take your bike on a boat from Ross Castle to the Gap of Dunloe for a day of exploring & cycling. Alternatively drive up to the Gap of Dunloe and explore on foot or take a horse and trap up the Gap. Kate Kearneys cottage is a popular location for food and drinks. A real Irish pub.
