Country Cafe has been around for quite a while but pretty much forgotten by me, that is until the big COVID-19 shut down. When all the restaurants were forced to offer carryout only, we decided to help out our local folks by a whole week of carryout. Not only did this give me a break from cooking, but it forced us to try new places. That’s when a Google search reminded me of Country Cafe. It is located in a strip mall, next to a long abandoned grocery store. What this little cafe offers us is an amazing hamburger and a drive thru. About twice a month me and my husband call in an order of 2 hamburgers, all the way (I mean all the way!) with fries and large teas. I hear there are many other good items on the menu, including a great country style breakfast, but the hamburgers are what brings us back time and time again. The folks there are always very friendly, complete with all the southern “honey” “dear” and “sweeties” you can expect from a small town cafe. The drive thru is a little unconventional (around the back of the abandoned grocery store) but it does the job. I’m not exactly sure what it is about the burgers, maybe the perfect bun to burger ratio, but this is our go-to for a hamburger hankering.
