Peter Kay has been spotted dining here. There’s a cocktail bar upstairs. They serve oysters as a appetiser, a very well-known aphrodisiac! It’s got/ getting a new outdoor terraced courtyard area. NEW CIVIC PLAQUE A new civic plaque has been installed at the Rivington Grill on Church Street. Formerly the Black Bull Public House, this distinctive stone building has existed for over 200 years. In the 18th - 19th centuries it was a stage coach inn and in the early 19th century it was the centre of administration for the original village of Horwich presided over by Joseph Ridgway. Today is a special occasion, I got to walk my niece to school for the first time, it’s a beautiful sunny cold autumn morning . I said hello to her teacher , who I went to school with. On the way to school they spotted 3 deer in a field. On the way back me and my dad stopped and looked at the new health centre being built next to horwich leisure centre. The cranes and workmen moving big steel girders into place. The concrete steps already fitted. We talked about the work he used to do and the training that he had. He still works, he just chooses the work that he does. His brain is too active, he needs to be busy. He’s at a meeting today, then working this afternoon . All emotional this morning as my niece is just like me at her age, but he feels he missed it all, always at work. He didn’t. I remember him taking me to school in his work van.
