The Dock Museum (free entry) is well worth a visit. Exhibitions on the history of the town, focus on the shipbuilding industry (now BAE Systems), the steelworks industry (Barrow once had the world’s largest), the Furness Railway and the World War II bombings of the town. There is also a Viking gallery, containing numerous Viking treasures found in the local area, including the Furness Hoard.
