Visit the Locals at Pig Beach One of the more offbeat, but unforgettable Bahamian experiences is a visit to nearby Big Major Cay, better known to locals as Pig Beach. This small island is famous for being home to an adorable colony of feral — but friendly — pigs, happy to greet, swim, play, and of course be fed by you! The story goes these critters were once dropped off by sailors who meant to come back and eat them. The sailors never did return, and now these unique island residents enjoy schmoozing with fun-loving visitors — a great excursion for kids and adults alike.

Meet the adorable and famous Swimming Pigs. This is one thing you can't miss while you're here. Visit Pig Beach and get a selfie with the #swimmingpigs—they're even cuter in person! How did the pigs get to Pig Beach? We don't know for sure. Big Major Cay is uninhabited and the pigs are not native to the island. Some say they were left by a group of sailors, who planned to come back and cook them. Or that the pigs swam over from a shipwreck nearby.

If you are visiting Exuma, you have to swim with the pigs. There are a few boat tour companies that will bring you to swim with the pigs. You will get to other fun things along the way. There are half day and full day tours! It is so much fun!!
