If you appreciate specialty coffee, it doesn't get much better than Dogwood anywhere in the US. Locally roasted, nationally award-winning, incredibly knowledgable and kind baristas, and fantastic baked goods from Rustica (also local).

Isles Bun & Coffee
1424 W 28th St Huge cinnamon and caramel buns! Awesome!
If you want to get out for coffee but don't want to walk more than a block, this is a perfect spot. I'll admit this isn't my favorite coffee company (I prefer smaller specialty coffee companies -- especially Dogwood just a few blocks further north), but they do have a roaster right inside of this shop and you'll get a good fresh brew or nice cup of tea. Baked goods are fine, but again, if you want something truly special I'd keep walking a few more blocks. Dogwood Coffee sells Rustica baked goods (some of the best you'll find anywhere in the region) or keep hiking a little further to Isles Bun for huge fresh cinnamon rolls.

3348 Hennepin Ave SIf you want to get out for coffee but don't want to walk more than a block, this is a perfect spot. Deep Dish Chicago-style pizza. Delish. Our condo is in their very small delivery area if you want it to come to you! Make sure you plan on it taking an hour because the pizza prep alone is 45+ minutes made to order.

If you're looking for a truly authentic Vietnamese noodle soup experience, this is it. Skip the more popular Quang and hit up our family's favorite spot. Very casual, feels a bit like a cafeteria, and that's right on for pho. If you like sweet coffee, don't miss Cafe Sua Da (strong coffee with sweetened condensed milk over ice). When you're over at Pho Hoa, you're adjacent to a multi-block section of Nicollet Ave known as "Eat Street" -- all sorts of great restaurants and Asian fare and even Asian grocery.

We love this local pizza chain. Awesome, fresh pizzas and many other great menu items including fresh seasonal salads. If you're gluten-free, they are meticulous in ensuring no cross contamination for their GF crusts.

Minneapolis has many great Farmer's Markets on various days of the week. This is our favorite Saturday morning market. You'll get a beautiful view of the river, the Guthrie Theater, and can also take a walk on Stone Arch Bridge all just steps from the market.

750 S 2nd StMinneapolis has many great Farmer's Markets on various days of the week. This is our favorite Saturday morning market. You'll get a beautiful view of the river, the Guthrie Theater, and can also take a walk on Stone Arch Bridge all just steps from the market.
These doughnuts are fantastic! Just get there early - they typically sell out by 11am and the close the shop for the day. Just a few blocks away - a nice walk. Then you could head back the way you came and keep going until you hit the Lake!

Fun playground right on the beach! Also, our favorite stand-up paddle-boarding rental guys Tommy and Robbie are located just east of North Beach -- look them up at SUP Calhoun. They are not in the normal rental area -- so less likely you'll face crowds and lines when you rent from them. They're super family friendly as well. If you get to meet Tommy tell him we sent you!
