Less touristy and busy than Bourbon Street. A bar lined street with lots of live music and fun to be had. Each evening a second line brass band (brass bands that play on the streets of New Orleans) can be found playing for crowds. Such a treat to see such talented musicians playing in such a relaxed environment.

Antique Stores, art and a large number of intriguing New Orleans Centric places in the heart of the French Quarter. Across from the police substation in the quarter is an interesting place, James H. Cohen and Sons has muskets from the Revolutionary War and coins from the Roman empire and many interesting things in-between. Royal is best explored on foot, with stops for coffee to keep you properly fueled up for the day's adventure.

Really good Poboy restaurant and bar in the Bayou St. John neighborhood. Lots of outdoor seating or you can take it to go and picnic along the bayou just a block away! The bayou is beautiful and here you can see people playing music, volleyball, grilling, walking their dogs, etc. Also people are canoeing, stand up paddleboarding and kayaking in the bayou! Small alligators are spotted every once in a while but its not really something to worry about.

Confederacy of Cruisers invites you on bike rides where we share what we love best: New Orleans. Our various tours roll through several scenic traditionally Creole neighborhoods including the old Faubourgs; Marigny and Treme and down into the friendly and colorful Bywater. As we ride, taking routes we can customize as we go, we explore the architecture and history of the city, unraveling the mysteries and crazy stories of the past and present, that, when seen as a whole, will give you a glimpse into the heart of our unique local culture. If we can just provide a hint of why we can never envision living anywhere else, we are happy. There really is no place like New Orleans, and sharing it

The Country Club New Orleans is located in a historic Italianate Raised Center Hall Cottage and is most known for its $15 bottomless mimosas at brunch, its bar and lounge surrounding the saltwater pool, and its predominantly LGBTQ staff and customers. Every Saturday it is home to "drag brunch." The food can be described as "contemporary southern" and is also quite outstanding. The pool is a great place to cool off, and while no membership is required, it does cost additional money to enter the back pool area.

Charming little place with all outside (under tent) dining. It's not cheap but the food is pretty solid, the cocktails delicious and the place has a certain charm. There's literally a tree growing in the dining area. We've heard it can be buggy in summer (makes sense) but we've dined there in the winter months and enjoyed it very much. It's also a delightful 10 minute walk up gorgeous Esplanade to get there through some of the most charming neighborhood in the city. That alone recommends it

Getting Around

The St. Charles Streetcar is New Orleans oldest streetcar line. The oldest continuously operating streetcar in the world! The mahogany seats and brass fittings are just part of the charm. Rumbling around the ''neutral ground'' of St. Charles Avenue and Carrollton Avenue for more than 150 years. It's a great way to see some of the unique architecture that NOLA is famous for. The route forms a 13.2-mile crescent from Carrollton Avenue all the way to Carondelet at Canal Street in the Central Business District . From there it's a short walk to the French Quarter. It operates 24 hours a day.
