A great place for a quick casual bite. The sushi is fresh and you can get poke bowls or other Japanese dishes. It’s bright and casual for a quick easy bite.

Dining with an ocean view the newly refurbished Imperial Hotel is a great place for a sundowner or stay for the full meal experience. It’s on the expensive side for what it is but the view out to sea is lovely.

The RSL is the perfect spot to enjoy an afternoon beer in the sun or a range of eats from the bistro. The new deck is a nice spot for a beer or coffee in the sun.

Beaches often has bands playing on the weekends. If you want a bit more action and a younger crowd, you might have some fun here. There is also a big beer garden out the front to watch the world go by in the afternoon.

If you want to escape the tourist traps this is a good local. Beer and barefoot bowls on the green with a view to the ocean and escarpment. Sometimes there are bands on the weekends and the Thai bistro is good. Nothing much has changed here since the 60’s.

578 Lawrence Hargrave DrIf you want to escape the tourist traps this is a good local. Beer and barefoot bowls on the green with a view to the ocean and escarpment. Sometimes there are bands on the weekends and the Thai bistro is good. Nothing much has changed here since the 60’s.
It’s touristy but the beer garden is beautiful with sweeping views up and down the coast. A perfect spot for a coffee or afternoon beer. Food is over priced and nothing to rave about but perfectly fine.

The renovated historic building is home to the Resin Brewing company. Enjoy local craft beer, with great food and atmosphere. The train station is a stones throw away so it's also an option if you don't want to drive.

Beautiful steep hike up to the top of the Escarpment where you are rewarded with breath taking views of Wollongong to the north and south.

Reef AvenueA perfect spot for a swim and explore of the rock platform. The views back to the escarpment are special at Wombarra Beach because you can hardly see a house. It feels secluded. At the north end of the beach there is a small rock pool you can swim in at high tide.
Another beautiful rock pool. When it’s calm you can also snorkel around the rocks. The rock platform has great views back to the Seacliff Bridge.

Why not learn how to dive in the Illawarra. Small groups and amazing dive locations. I saw more fish here than the Whitsundays and scuba dived with the Grey Nurse Sharks.

Soak up vibes of Wollongong as you meander along the coastal walk, past the beach cafes to this stunning part of Wollongong. You can see Wollongong's beautiful coastline as well as the steelworks to the south. Endless cafes and restaurants to choose from a only a short stroll to the main shopping district of Wollongong.

Take your wallet - there is a coffee shop and cafe at the top if you want a refreshment. Park at the end of Buttenshaw Drive, near Asquith Street or on Foothills Road if you approach from Austinmer.
