Cabot TrailThis island is just nearby Baddeck. A small pontoon boat takes visitors for free across to Kidston Island from Baddeck, and it leaves from the large dock in Baddeck. Guests can also rent canoes at the beach nearby the dock and paddle to Kidston Island themselves.

Google maps brought me to the wrong address, across the river, so it is best to simply take Exit 14 off the highway and head toward where the body of water seems to open to an ocean. The tidal bore viewing center is very close to the highway and consists of a visitor center and simple park with benches. It can be windy at this location. Tidal schedules can be researched online so that you may plan your roadtrip to or from Halifax to coincide with the tidal activity of the Bay of Fundy, the greatest tidal bore in the world.

I have not tried the baked goods, but they are legendary among locals, who regularly buy enough to stock up in their freezer, which causes the baked goods to sell out very often.

2053 Gottingen StEdna is one of my favorite restaurants in Halifax. The menu has something for everyone. I love the PEI-sourced steak, while others enjoy the fresh oysters, mussels with fries, and lovely soups. In my opinion, it is the best steak I have had in Nova Scotia. I get the steak every time I am in town.
Sugar Moon Farm is a log cabin that serves breakfast for long periods of time with pancakes and their lovely maple syrups made right on the property. Tours are available. The staff are very kind. There is a gift store, where guests can taste various types of maple syrup and purchase their own. There is light maple syrup from Sugar Moon Farm at Explorer's Cottage.

It is an older establishment, but I think that the kitchen is very clean, and I have always had a good experience there. I have ordered a simple grilled Haddock as take out, and it was very good and everyone was very kind. There is live local music at times.
I recommend the Campfire Trout from this restaurant. I order this locally caught fish without the sauce and with vegetables. There are many French-influenced dishes on this menu that feature seafood in white sauces or other savory sauce based dishes.

The atmosphere inside is very fun and lively and great for groups and families. Parking is usually available on the street in the evenings or in a parking lot next door. Both outdoor and indoor seating are available.
