We’ve hiked in the Regional Park a number of times on numerous trails. If you hike in the heat, bring plenty of water...and I would say do that anyway! Stop at the Park Center and grab a hiking map...and I’d you haven’t already downloaded the All Trails app...do it, just in case you need some mobile help! :)
We generally start either at Rainbow Trailhead or at the expert bike trail. It’s especially beautiful during late Feb and March when the mountains are covered in desert blooms. (And for those weary of snakes, they are generally still hibernating!). We have seen a coyote and a bobcat on occasion...they have never approached us in any manner...
Enjoy. It is very safe if you stay on trail and easy enough that our young grandchildren have hiked with us (3 year and up).

The North Lake in EMR is beautiful. 5 fountains, a yacht club, great friendly residents, and a serene view. Can walk around it or sit on benches and relax. Fireworks in July, Concerts, and Ballet. You do not have to be a resident to eat at the Starpoint or Presidio restaurants. We love it.

Since 1964, Phoenix International Raceway has been the premier motorsports venue in the Southwest. Founded as an open-wheel racing mecca, PIR was proud to host the Desert Diamond West Valley Phoenix Grand Prix Verizon IndyCar Series race under the lights in April. Phoenix is the only track in the West to feature two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekends a year, beginning with the Good Sam 500 race weekend in March. The schedule is anchored by the upcoming Can-Am 500 race weekend in November, the semifinal race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup after which the field will be reduced to the final four championship contenders. Only 20 minutes away from Foothills hideaway!
