Meadow View provides a great base to get out and see interesting places and events by either car or rail.
It has been used to film scenes in Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who among many. The remnants of a 2000 year old Roman opencast iron ore mine are overgrown with gnarled trees and ferns. Rumoured to be part of the inspiration for Tolkien's Middle Earth.

In WW2 over 12,000 tons of ore a week was shipped by rail to Newport to be smelted as part of the war effort.
