INSIDE SCOOP: Highly recommended! This park is located approximately 30 minutes drive from Better than Glamping and it is so worth the short drive. You can rent a floating tube (kinda expensive to rent so if you're gonna go multiple days probably better off bringing your own tubes) there or bring your own! There is a park entrance fee of $6 per car. You may hike to the tube launching areas or you can pay the fee (as of today 6/28/22 it is $7.49 +tax for those 5 and up...5 and under are free) to use the tram that takes you there and picks you back up at the end of the line. Make sure you bring your cell phone in a watertight pouch or container so you can take gorgeous pictures as you float down the river on your tube. It is truly relaxing and magical going down the river watching the turtles sunning, the fish jumping out of the water, and the blue herons flying by. Note, they don't allow food on the river but they will allow you to bring water (or other non-alcoholic) drinks on a non-disposable/reusable water bottle or container. Bring a cord or something to tie the tubes together if floating down the river with smaller children and don't forget the water shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses and sun hats to make the experience more enjoyable. GENERAL INFO: For your convenience, tubes are available for rent within the park. Visitors are welcome to bring their own tubes or rent from outside vendors. All tubes cannot exceed 60” in any two directions. This is one of the most visited natural landmarks in the region, Ichetucknee Springs State Park is a must-see and we highly recommend it. Ichetucknee is a spring-fed, crystal-clear river of approximately six miles in length. For a small entrance fee you can get active on the Ichetucknee with scuba diving, snorkeling, cave exploration, swimming, paddle-boarding, canoeing and kayaking. Or, for the ultimate relaxation experience, visitors can choose to let the river's flow do all the work: Ichetucknee is one of Florida's top tubing locations! Tubing and kayaking equipment is available for rent through vendors located outside the park. Scuba diving is also available through the months of October to March in the gorgeous Blue Hole for certified scuba instructors only. Due to its popularity as a tubing destination, Ichetucknee Springs can be very busy on weekends and holidays; however, the crowds and long lines can be avoided by arriving early at the park. Enjoy the park with friends, family and even your pets! From 8AM to 6PM the park is available to all who want to come and enjoy the fresh north Florida air. Swim attire is not required for park entry, but is suggested to go for a splash in the water. The centrally located Ichetucknee connects to several springs on the Santa Fe River, including Ginnie, Lilly and Poe.

SEASONAL (SPRING/SUMMER) This place is amazing for something to do during June and July. It is approx. 45 mins drive from the property but so worth it...specially if you have kids. Check their online web page and facebook page for hours and when they are open. You can go blueberry and/or blackberry picking. Very beautiful farm with hand-washing stations, clean bathroom, picnic areas. Very reasonable prices. Plan to spend about 2 hours there and try to go during early morning hours when it is not so hot and their sheep come out in case the kids want to pet and feed them.

Beautiful sunsets and fresh seafood in coastal village with old Florida charm.
Steinhatchee is a coastal village located an easy peaceful and quiet drive from Mayo. You’ll find that the drive is worth every minute to visit this town alongside a river of the same name. Think of Steinhatchee as a "mini Key West" with lots of old Florida charm and tons of fresh seafood. You can arrange for a deep sea fishing trip there. As you might guess, “Steinhatchee” was derived from the Native American language: “esteen-hatchee” means “river of man”.
