Flatbush is a high area in central brooklyn. You can jump on bus or train and explore the various ethnic neighborhoods that are blended as one. ONE LOVE
Jump on the B49 bus one block away and head to the beach. It's on average at 45 minutes ride which you can minimize if you take the train to this same bus. But what would be the point. As you sit on the bus, you will pass through different neighborhoods, each with their own style. The last stop is the beach on this route. This beach is quite and less crowded than Coney Island. Afterwards, you can just jump back on the bus or explore the area food scene while snapping pics of mansions that you can say that you visited

Check out this museum and the largest hasidic population outside is Isreal along Eastern Parkway approximately 15 minutes away. This interactive museums is family friendly and adults are welcome to visit too
