Closed during the winter months, Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain National Park is the highest paved road in Colorado, reaching a peak elevation of more than 12,000 feet. The views from the alpine areas above treeline simply cannot be surpassed.

The 4 mile hike around Monarch Lake is a family favorite, and the drive around the southern end of the lake (follow signs for Arapahoe Bay off of Highway 34, a few miles south of our neighborhood) to access the trailhead is simply stunning. The trailhead is about a 30-minute drive from Lakeview Haven, and the access road is gravel.

The 4 mile hike around Monarch Lake is a family favorite, and the drive around the southern end of the lake (follow signs for Arapahoe Bay off of Highway 34, a few miles south of our neighborhood) to access the trailhead is simply stunning. The trailhead is about a 30-minute drive from Lakeview Haven, and the access road is gravel.
A beautiful, quick & easy hike (less than a half-mile) that is great to do before or after a meal in Grand Lake. You can find the trailhead on the north side of the lake (Grand Lake).

You'll likely travel over Berthoud Pass to get into Grand County and get to Lakeview Haven. It's a gorgeous, twisty drive during any season. Be sure to stop at the top if the weather is nice to get a view of the Continental Divide.

It's well-known for a spectacular 4th of July fireworks show, as the closest town to the West Entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, and for being able to snowmobile on the streets there in the winter.
