Fun place to get drinks and play bocce ball. Some nice beers on tap and they have awesome spicy popcorn. Also close the Fox Theater if you want to get some great pics of the historic marquee or better yet see a show there!

Love this local outdoor beer garden and amazing brews. Located on Broadway, in the heart of what used to be Oakland's Auto Row, is where the name comes from. Great for a beer and a burger on a sunny day. Try the Denogginizer Double IPA but beware...it's Hecka Strong!

The owner, Peter Van Kleef (RIP) collected art/garb/stuff from all over the world and covered every inch of wall space in this eclectic landmark establishment--the first in the area, long before it grew to become the now famous Uptown area!

For my veggie-loving guests, I'm told (by other veggie-loving guests), that this is good Asian style food in Oakland's own Chinatown. Other good veggie/vegan options include the Golden Lotus on 13th and Franklin in Oakland. There's also the Herbivore or Chaya in Berkeley. See Google for menus, locations, and hours.

This is the closest BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station if your going to SF or the Oracle Arena for a show. You can also call Uber, Lyft, or a cab. The AC Transit #47 bus also stops on either corner of this block and goes back and forth to Fruitvale BART. Transbay busses also go back and forth to SF. See Google for schedules for times. The Oscar Grant movie was filmed there but don't worry, it's very boring and safe now.
