Lower Slaughter
Our very ‘chocolate box’ Cotswold village with the River Eye running through it. Have a look in St Mary’s Church too, it’s very pretty and the flowers decorating the church are usually beautiful.
Our neighbouring village is another beautiful postcard worthy Cotswold village. It's only a 15 minute walk away across 3 fields. Lords of the Manor hotel is in Upper Slaughter so you can stop off for a drink on the terrace and enjoy the views of the rolling countryside.
To walk to Upper Slaughter; turn right out of our driveway. Before you reach The Mill turn right along the footpath. Keep walking along the path, across 3 fields and you'll reach Upper Slaughter. The last field take you down a hill, left through a gate and across a little bridge then up an alleyway. At the road turn right down the hill, then take the next left to follow the road to the ford. Cross the ford, and up the steep hill you'll see a little alleyway on the right after Chapel House. That takes you to Upper Slaughter church which is worth a visit. You can then walk down the main path from the church to the village square. Directly across the square from you is Lords of the Manor. To get home again turn right out of Lords of the Manor and at the end of the stone wall turn right back down the alleyway and through the same fields again.

27 mins North. A really lovely town to visit with beautiful buildings, plenty of interesting shops, restaurants and cafes. A nice place to spend an afternoon. Be sure to check out the Broadway Deli. Our favourite restaurant there is The Lygon Arms, halfway down the high street on the right.

27 mins North. A really lovely town to visit with beautiful buildings, plenty of interesting shops, restaurants and cafes. A nice place to spend an afternoon. Be sure to check out the Broadway Deli. Our favourite restaurant there is The Lygon Arms, halfway down the high street on the right.

18 mins SE. The high street is packed with quaint old buildings and lots of little stand alone shops perfect for picking up a few Cotswold souvenirs. Lynwoods Cafe at the top of the hill is a great lunch choice, or Huffkins halfway up the hill is pretty good too.
There is a car park which is 2nd turning on your left after you’ve come over the bridge. It’s down Church Lane at the end on the left. There are lots of ducks next to the car park if you’d like to take some duck food with you.

5 mins walk. Great for Sunday lunch. We tend to book in the bar area as the restaurant is quite formal. In the winter ask for a table next to the fire. The normal lunches are quite overpriced for the quality of the food, but it’s very convenient.

Cirencester's Charter Market is held in the Market Place on Monday and Friday 9am to around 2pm each week.
This market is one of the oldest charter markets in the country, having been mentioned as early as 1086 in the Domesday Book. It forms a vital part of the Town Council's policy of fostering a thriving town centre. It is a shopping experience not to be missed.
