Sightseeing
Chiswick House and Gardens is a lovely 18th century villa with a 65-acer-large garden. It has beautiful flower beds, a little stream running through and designated picnic areas. There's some beautiful statues and a little labyrinth as well as the house itself. The gardens are free entry, if you want to visit the house it costs around £8. They also offer free guided tours and a children's trail.

Kew Gardens is a beautiful large park with temperated houses, alpine gardens, a tree-top trail (if you aren't scared of heights), a children's garden, Kew Palace and some lovely cafés.

Entry is only £4.80 for the day and you can easily get their by bus or I'd recommend cycling (pick up one of the Santander Cycles in front of the Town Hall next to the flat - you can drop it off at Hyde Park again). Mahdi is an authentic Iranian Restaurant, just next door. Their ambience is amazing and you definitely have to try the Black or Spiced Black tea. Order a pot of that as well as a selection of starters (Vine Leaves, Stuffed Peppers, Aubergine Purée are all highly recommended). Then enjoy some of their specialities from the grill along with their freshly prepared bread (you can see them making it from outside the restaurant as well). They don't serve alcohol but their Tea and Yoghurt drinks will definitely do.

Neighbourhoods
Lovely West London Neighborhood with a village feel - lots of little boutiques and independent shops, cafés and delis. Green spaces, parks and gardens galore. When you're at the riverside, go right past the dove and keep walking down the Thames - you'll go past a sweet little italian deli (with delicious burrata, local wines and a great meat and cheese selection) as well as some old historical buildings, full of ivy and vine leaves. You'll pass beautiful villas and gardens until you get to Duke's Meadows, a big park and recreation ground. Keep walking and you can visit the weekly Sunday Farmer's Market with lots of local produce, fresh fruit and vegetables, fingerfood (tasty sourdough pizza and crêpes) and homemade gifts.

Visit the old martitime museum, the covered market and Trinity Laban College and promenade past little shops on the old high street. Or visit the modern Greenwich peninsula with it's high rise buildings, Millenium Dome and docks. Go on a stroll through Greenwich park (which also offers amazing views over South-Central London) and also leads to Blackheath, a tiny village-feel neighbourhood with sweet cafés, little shops and another beautiful Heath.
I'd suggest you either extend your trip to Canary Wharf & the Isle of Dogs by walking through the foot tunnel beneath the Thames (yes, it really is underneath the water) and explore East London OR you take a boat back to the centre (get off at Blackfriars or Embankment for quick access to the Shakespeare's globe, Tate Modern, the London eye, etc.). You can board the speed-ferry with your Oyster card and it takes the same route as all of the sightseeing boats but for a fraction of the price. (I know, amazing!)

Or visit the modern Greenwich peninsula with it's high rise buildings, Millenium Dome and docks. Go on a stroll through Greenwich park (which also offers amazing views over South-Central London) and also leads to Blackheath, a tiny village-feel neighbourhood with sweet cafés, little shops and another beautiful Heath.

I can recommend Daylesford for very tasty, organic specialties as well as Ottolenghi's Deli.
