Within walking distance is this small, local, and much loved cafe. Excellent New Mexican food for breakfast, lunch, or an early dinner. Their red and green chile is some of the best we’ve had in New Mexico. They also have sandwiches and ice cream. Beer and wine. Patio dining available.

This place has outstanding food, moderate prices, and gets crowded. The homemade desserts are legendary, and the Sunday brunch is a must visit. If you are going for dinner, you can make reservations.

One of our favorite hikes is on the trail that begins at the back of the campground: the West Fork Trail. Not accessible in the wintertime.
