At the train station take BUS number 434 to Castelo dos Mouros and Palacio da Pena. I recommend visiting the gardens of Palacio da Pena... the interior up to you (too crowded for my taste). Buy the 2 tickets to Jardins do Palacio da Pena and for Castelo dos Mouros. The first stop will be Castelo dos Mouros don't get off... get off till Palacio da Pena buy the tickets and visit the gardens. Exit and go down to Castelo dos Mouros, Explore....

Sintra station

Go down to Moors Castle visit then when you exit take little left trail in the woods to Sintra. Walk till you get to Sintra center

Along the 403 bus route are the Cabo da Roca cliffs. This headland is the most westerly point of mainland Europe and was thought to be the end of the known world in the 14th century. The region is of dramatic landscapes, 150m high cliffs fall away to raging seas and the entire region is buffeted by strong winds. Cabo da Roca is a beautiful location for people who appreciate natures raw beauty and is a wonderful place to watch sunset, but unfortunately the bus times do not allow for this.
Yet you can wait for the next bus to come to continue to Cascais
