It has been called Hillbilly-Asian Fusion as the Chef husband is a native Virginian and his wife is from Thailand. Homemade desserts, eclectic menu - It is a local tradition! Weekends are busy - be prepared for a wait.

Nice place for live music. Good assortment of beers, bites and cocktails. It is only a few miles from the house.

This little gem has been in business since the 1950's. They still serve curbside and feature really good hot dogs, a plethora of shakes and soft serve. Within a few miles of the house.

The Thai food is excellent! I really enjoy the sushi choices as well, especially the chef's specials (watch the sriracha sauce - they are liberal with it)

Hands down the best Pizza in town! Salads are fresh - dine in or carry out. We normally get the super supreme - it will serve 3-4 easily.

Service can be rather slow but the food is good! We usually carry out. Try the garlic cheese knots! The chicken Parmesan will serve two and just order an extra salad :)

This is a bit of a drive but it is hands down the most inspired food in our area. Chef is amazing - as are the owners. It would be a good way to wrap up a day at Pipestem Park as it is within a mile or so of that location.

How in the world did a Dairy Queen make the list of top restaurants? Ask any local of former local and they will tell you that this particular Dairy Queen has the best hot dogs in the world!! Toasted Buttered buns, melt in your mouth Chili - it's a must!

This museum and coal mine tour is close - within about 15 minutes drive. It provides a good perspective of life in the Appalachian Coal fields in the early to middle 1900's.

Beautiful views atop this stone outcrop. Nice Hike to the top - not too strenuous. Especially worthwhile in the Fall.

This Train use to run at the top of East River Mountain. Now it resides and operates at the Bluefield City Park. All ages will enjoy - the track is about a mile. Minimal fee to ride - I think $2.00

Handcrafted items (art not crafts) are available for sale at this venue. There is a nice restaurant featuring local cuisine. This is located about 45 minutes from Bluefield. It is a good place to combine with a trip to the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine or the New River Gorge Bridge.

Tamarack: The Best Of West Virginia
1 Tamarack PlaceHandcrafted items (art not crafts) are available for sale at this venue. There is a nice restaurant featuring local cuisine. This is located about 45 minutes from Bluefield. It is a good place to combine with a trip to the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine or the New River Gorge Bridge.
The New River Gorge Bridge is located about an hour and 15 minutes from the house. There is a Bridge Walk Tour that traverses underneath the bridge on the girders above the river - it is OUTSTANDING! One of the best things I have done in the state :)

U.S. Highway 19The New River Gorge Bridge is located about an hour and 15 minutes from the house. There is a Bridge Walk Tour that traverses underneath the bridge on the girders above the river - it is OUTSTANDING! One of the best things I have done in the state :)
This tour takes you into a mine on actual mine equipment. It is very insightful and educational. Located about 45 minutes from the house - (77 north)
