Within a mile to two miles from the house, or just a block or two in some cases, there are a multitude of neighborhoods (Old Southwest, Wasena, Grandin Village, South Roanoke & Downtown) that are chock full of locally owned restaurants, cafes, bakeries, coffee shops, breweries, and honey wine, etc. We have them listed from closest to the house out - many within easy walking distance - or a ride on a Zagster bike! Our guests get 2 hours free!

Outdoor Adventure
In town we have bike rental kiosks, consistent sidewalks, bike lanes, the Roanoke River, the Roanoke River Greenway, a rock climbing wall, the Mill Mountain Star (views, a nature center, hiking and mountain biking trails) The Blueridge Parkway. We also have places to rent any equipment you do not have - mountain bikes, kayaks, paddle boards and more.
Right outside of the city there is Explore Park for kayaking or paddle boarding the river, hiking, cycling, and yurt and cabin rental - as well as Carvins Cove Nature Reserve - which is acre upon acre of hiking and biking trails and a lake for fishing and boating.
We are also quite near the Appalachian Trail and some of the best known and most photographed hikes in Virginia.
There are easy to use bike rental kiosks all over the city and our guests get 2 free hours - inquire about the password with the hosts. The brochures with code are also located in the guest suite.
