There are several reasons we warmly recommend a stop at Lorraine.
1) The drive there is absolutely stunning. It is however a VERY narrow road and could be scary for some
2) Lorraine tell the best stories about Hawaii and what is special about native Hawaii culture.
3) Lorraine bake the best banana bread cake I have tried in my entire life - fresh every morning. Get there early, but wait until after 9-10 am as she spend the morning baking
4) Enjoy sitting in Lorraine's garden while eating her cake
We often take the ride on bicycle from the condo to this location. Its long and strenuous, but if you are in good fit its fantastic. There are places nearby to rent bicycles.

In addition to the nice food we just like the atmosphere of the town of Paia. Its kind of a hippie/surfer-town that has its own unique character we have not seen in other little towns. People watching is great here!

Paia Fish Market
100 Baldwin AveGreat local fast-food. Everything from the ocean.
In addition to the nice food we just like the atmosphere of the town of Paia. Its kind of a hippie/surfer-town that has its own unique character we have not seen in other little towns. People watching is great here!

Parks & Nature
The drive to Hana is iconic and a must-see experience. The drive is LONG. It will take an entire day and you should leave the condo no later than 7am in the morning in order to beat most of the crowd. Hana is not a destination, the value is in the drive TO Hana where you enjoy the unbetable tropical scenery and waterfalls (plural!). You will get waterfall-fatigue. Its important to make many stops and take little hikes into the jungle. We recommend buying on of the mobile apps that help inform you when its time to make a stop and enjoy the sites.
Subject to seasonal rain and road closure you might be able to make a loop around the south side of the island. We warmly recommend it.

This beach is the absolute most fun-packed for body surfing. You don't need a buggy board, just jump into the ocean and enjoy being pushed back onto shore.
Waves can be VERY dangerous but if you are careful this is just so much fun!!
Very little development on this beach makes it pretty to visit.
We stop here EVERY time we take the road to Hana

Hamoa BeachThis beach is the absolute most fun-packed for body surfing. You don't need a buggy board, just jump into the ocean and enjoy being pushed back onto shore.
Waves can be VERY dangerous but if you are careful this is just so much fun!!
