From the outside, unpromising. Inside a tasty array of food treats to buy and a tea room behind the shop with lovely unmatched crockery, fabulous cakes and friendly service. Delightful!

This is a friendly pub with good range of beers and a decent food menu. Live music on some nights. The Sunday carvery here is simply fantastic value for money. They also have the most wonderful range of gins for that G&T moment. And it's right by the lake and it's less than 5 minutes walk from the cottage!

Even if you aren't bothered about the fantastic art work and outside sculptures, the grounds are fantastic to walk around and the views are fabulous. Go early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds but to get the most out of it, spend a day here. Good cafe and food.

Even if you aren't bothered about the fantastic art work and outside sculptures, the grounds are fantastic to walk around and the views are fabulous. Go early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds but to get the most out of it, spend a day here. Good cafe and food.

The Country Park and lake is a haven for birds and wild life. It's very popular with children who like to feed the ducks and follow the gnome trail, and popular with adults because of the delightful walks - a number of these to suit all abilities. A beautiful place and just across the way from Amity Cottage. And it's free!

Historic site, with lots for families. Go to the Pantry for budget priced, excellent tasty food - lovely soups and scones to die for. Antique Emporium on two floors with buys to suit all pockets. Every guest we have recommended it to has loved it.
