It took us a little while to discover this little gem of a tea room/café, but you’d have to go a long way to beat the breakfast experience at Whelk Coppers – overlooking the sea, good food and great service.

New to Sheringham, but with a handful of cafes already in North Norfolk, Grey Seal does a really good cup of coffee. They pride themselves on using single origin beans and espresso blends and do a great kid friendly hot chocolate. You’ll find the at the end of the High Street heading towards the sea.

9-11 High StNew to Sheringham, but with a handful of cafes already in North Norfolk, Grey Seal does a really good cup of coffee. They pride themselves on using single origin beans and espresso blends and do a great kid friendly hot chocolate. You’ll find the at the end of the High Street heading towards the sea.
There is a fabulous bakery just a bit further along from Sainsbury's on the left - (it's next to the Thai restaurant) if you like fresh bread and cream cakes that's your place.

Another great café, very family friendly and with fab views of the sea. Best to get there on foot via promenade - head east, past Sheringham Museum (The Mo) and it's 200 yards on your right. There is a small flight of steps to it but worth it for the view, delicious hot chocolate and flapjacks - they also do breakfast type baps on ciabatta.
The Funky Mackerel Cafe

M & Ds, just opposite the end of Augusta St, are a lovely family run butchers. We can highly recommend their burgers, sliced ham and chicken & chilli sausages!

Great pub - fab food, family friendly and a great range of ales and wines - perfect after a long coastal walk. Views over the marsh are spectacular. Be warned, it can be busy as very popular!

A great family-friendly pub, well known for its Sunday lunches, Norfolk ales and huge gin selection! Lovely log burner going in the winter. Enclosed south facing pub garden and less than a 5 minute drive away - lucky us!

On the prom head left (west) along the prom to the Life Boat Station or right (east) along the prom – which can also take you into town. The beaches are off the prom – most have steps to the beach, although one heading east (opposite Ellie’s café) has a slope and the slope/slipway at the Life Boat Station. There are a few active cafes in the summer along the prom. In the summer we love to swim during both high and low tide. There is very shallow swimming water (ideal for kids) during low tide. When the tide comes in its great (for water friendly children) to body surf the waves. For adults and children it’s worth investing in some sea/aqua shoes and also a wetsuit for children.

Stunning beach - featured in many fillms - huge expanse of sand with water beyond. Its a pay car park (take change) and can get very busy in the summer - you can park across the road (Holkham Hall entrance) for free and walk.

Getting Around
We are blessed with the old Poppy Line train line in Sheringham - where you'll also find the tourist information and gift shop. It's quite a sight to see and hear the steam trains. They run frequently to Holt via Weybourne – a lovely outing and during summer holidays also offers the option of going into Holt town centre via an old Routemaster bus. Please do always double check if the Routemaster is running! The regular bus service does run from just outside Holt station, but is very infrequent and the walk into Holt from the station is a good 20 mins – not ideal with children!

Sheringham Little Theatre offers top class, year-round entertainment for all the family, with a fantastic programme featuring drama, music, comedy and art exhibitions. They also have a cinema screen with regular film viewings.
