Entertainment & Activities
Tallahassee is the closest city for all types of entertainment, being only 40-45 minutes away from BigMama's House. Any nightclub you can think of to any type of restaurants. FSU, and FAMU is a 40 minute ride away. (On the outskirts of Tallahassee, the Tallahassee Jr. Museum has a sixty foot long Zip line that goes through a cypress swamp!)

Everything Else
Mexico Beach is one of my favorite places to visit because of being so pretty with the white sand and blue waters. Great for saltwater fishing with peers available to fish off of or to charter boats. Has some of the most beautiful sunsets you will forever see.

St. George Island is one of Florida's most beautiful beaches. The island has beautiful sunrises and sunsets to capture, with large sand dunes. Great for biking the roads to the State Park.

The Whippoorwill Sportsman's Lodge is great out of the way restaurant that people will travel for miles around to eat there. The restaurant is located on Lake Talquin of a wonderful view of Lake. Has spectacular sunsets with the sunrays glittering off of the water when you glaze over toward the lake.

Apalachicola is a town located on the shore of the Apalachicola Bay. There are shopping stores, restaurants serving any thing to the best seafood to hamburgers, sightseeing for the ones who like the vintage look, and has some of the best saltwater fishing for all.

Parks & Nature
Torreya State Park is located North of Bristol, FL with the Park overlooking the Apalachicola River. This park is great for a hike and to also, sightsee the Gregory House. The Gregory House is a mansion, that was built during the Civil War that overlooks the River. I can remember taking a field trip as a child from the Hosford Elementary School on a school bus to see the Gregory House. Just beautiful place to go an enjoy this natural environment that may give you an sense of wonder.

2576 NW Torreya Park RdTorreya State Park is located North of Bristol, FL with the Park overlooking the Apalachicola River. This park is great for a hike and to also, sightsee the Gregory House. The Gregory House is a mansion, that was built during the Civil War that overlooks the River. I can remember taking a field trip as a child from the Hosford Elementary School on a school bus to see the Gregory House. Just beautiful place to go an enjoy this natural environment that may give you an sense of wonder.
The St. Marks Lighthouse is located off of the mouth of St. Marks River and on the Apalachee Bay. The light house was built 1842 that still stands in mint condition. It has beautiful sunsets, and a bird sanctuary that is amazing to watch. You might even see some alligators. This day trip would be a beautiful ride to learn some history of Florida. (A painting of the light house that my mother had done, is hanging in one of the bedrooms at BigMama's house.)

The St. Marks Lighthouse is located off of the mouth of St. Marks River and on the Apalachee Bay. The light house was built 1842 that still stands in mint condition. The Wakulla Springs State Park can offer many entertainment variables, such as dinning, swimming, hiking and biking on trails that is almost 9 miles long, boat riding, (my favorite) and lodging. The boat rides are guided tours that goes along the Wakulla River, leisurely. These tours may take your breath away by looking at the wildlife and scenery. In the summer time, Wakulla Springs is a great place to go and swim with the spring water to be cool and refreshing.
