Our daughters love to go here for burgers - they recommend the BBQ one especially with the sweet potato fries. Vegetarian/Vegan option available. Take the 18 from the Sülzgürtel stop near us until Ebertplatz. Then simply take the 12/15 to Florastrasse (they leave from the other side of the platform which is underground so keeps you safe from the cold and rain on those days with less good weather). You cannot make reservations so a small wait may be necessary before ordering at the till and finding a seat - but it is worth it!

Traditional Cologne pubs have been closing rapidly but Dürr still survives - we have been going here for three decades. Come to this authentic pub for a relaxed Kölsch and some typical Cologne bar snacks. Just around the corner and with seating outside in the warmer summer months.

18 Mainzer Str.Probably the most frequented restaurant of our family and friends - the best pizza in town with a great atmosphere and very friendly service. We recommend reserving a place if you are coming with a larger group especially, although they offer takeaway as well. Try the pizza coco (with extra garlic and chilli if you like it spicy!) or the tagliata (strips of steak served to you on fire!).

One of my daughter's favourite haunts - a one room Irish pub in the old part of Cologne, just around the corner from the Dom (the large cathedral in the centre of town). Friendly atmosphere and a good starting place for going out in the Altstadt (old city).

The park around the corner from us with gives you access to the Grüngürtel and lots trails for walks and jogs. You can walk to the Haus am See for a coffee or some food (a roughly 8km round walk back and forth from here) next to which you can play mini golf or rent paddle boats in the summer as well.
