Take a guided horseback riding tour on our 300+ acres of private mountain trails lead by an experienced guide. After signing up and meeting the horses, we will show you the skills you need to ride through our trails. You will be accompanied by an experienced trail guide the entire time. This is a beginner friendly ride, most of the ride is walking, we go at the pace of the least experienced rider in the group. If you would like to do some more trotting, don't want to ride in a group, or are experienced, we recommend booking a private ride. The ride itself is 1 hour long and is done in a western saddle. Traditional art classes can be intimidating. This laid-back atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking to try out their painting skills. Plus, everything is better with GOATS! A brief introduction of the residents and tour of the sanctuary is followed by setting up materials and getting creative. With an approach of “art as therapy”, we can be as instructive or inspiring as each guest needs. We provide the professional art materials, easels, smocks complimentary beverages and the super cute, affectionate goats! You can either bring your masterpiece home or donate it to the sanctuary to help them raise funds. We are a nonprofit animal sanctuary and rescue located on a beautiful and serene 60 acre horse farm in Kerhonkson. On the tour you get the opportunity to meet our horses, pigs, goats, and maybe even a dog or a cat, along the way learning each of their individual stories. We provide hands-on interaction with all the animals, giving you an up close and personal introduction to the world of animal welfare and rescue. We end with extra quality time with all of the goats, who love lots of attention, allowing for plenty of hugs, scratches, and photo ops. Everyone leaves with a sticker of their favorite goat. Learn about how 400 years of civilization changed the Catskills Forest and who or what is changing it today. On our 1 mile journey deep into the forever wilderness we provide an understanding through evidence of why the current flora and fauna exist from its humble beginnings about 15,000 years ago today. The beautiful five cascading pools of the historic Vernooy Kill Falls provide opportunities for children and pets to enjoy humans first touch of the natural cool waters. No business or civilisation exists upstream so this water is at its purist and provides opportunities to slide or jump into pools that nature has created over hundreds of million of years. In 1664, a French Hugenot named Cornelius Vernooy immigrated from Holland and founded a mill in 1703 to satisfy the demand of local farmers. His mill complex survives, unpreserved, as a testament to the early Americans that used it before and after the war for Independence. The contrast of the 20’ tall rock wall transports us back to the time of Rip Van Winkle. With campfire rings and swimming pools available, you are free to spend as much time at the falls as you like (3 day limit for campers) or you can maybe join Scott as he walks back to the Trails End parking lot.

After being cooped up all winter, your dog is begging to travel to the country for a fun activity outside! Bring them to Wayward Ranch, a nonprofit animal sanctuary and rescue located on 60 beautiful acres in the picturesque Rondout Valley. You and your dog(s) will be guided through a tour of our facility where they can sniff pigs, goats, and horses and you can learn about the stories of each of our residents here. After the tour when your dog is comfortable the fun really begins! Agility courses can be wonderful enrichment for dogs and it can help them get out excess energy, build confidence if they are anxious, and grow their bond with you! All ages, breeds, and experience levels welcome! Out of respect for our animals and for the safety of our visitors, dogs are required to be on leash throughout this experience (flexi-leads are not permitted). Is your dog in need of extra training? Let us know ahead of time that you would be interested in having a mini training consult with our resident dog trainer and we will do our best to accommodate that! Is your dog already an agility expert who can handle a longer visit on the course? Let us know ahead of time and we will to our best to accommodate you! If you do not have a dog of your own to bring, let us know and we will do our best to provide you with a dog from our rescue to play with on the course!

Everything is better with goats. (It's true.) Designed specifically for the people who love being active in the outdoors and also love animals! Come hike with us and our herd of rescued goats through the beauty of the forest tucked into a remote part of the Catskills, just 2 hours from Manhattan. Our goats feel safest with humans and so they magically follow and walk with us through the woods on seasoned trails as we become part of their herd. No leashes needed! We will meander over beautiful streams, enjoying the wildlife and scenery while we forage for some of the goat's favorite treats. We stop midway for a brief rest and water break before finishing our loop, hiking approximately 2.5 miles and taking about 1.5 - 2 hrs, depending on our pace. For those who are interested, your guide can tell you the rescue story of each goat, share their quirks and different personalities and answer any question you might have about goats in general (with a few terrible goat jokes/puns thrown in for good measure.) If you are looking for a unique outdoor experience that combines your love of animals, hiking and nature, this is for you! Weather dependent, we will be inside our comfy barn or outside enjoying nature, sitting on blankets and hammocks with our new goat friends. There will be plenty of quality time with our attention-loving goats, for hugs, scratches, brushing, cuddles and photo ops. Guests will meet host near the entrance to the Catskills in Palenville, New York. After a brief intro and gear check, well head up into the mountains - with scenic vistas, waterfalls, and pristine summits - there's an adventure waiting - no matter your skill level. Learn about the flora, fauna and geography along the way as you immerse in the best of the Catskills with a licensed hiking guide & adventure photographer. All needed winter gear is included and provided. Hikes range in difficulty from easy to challenging and I do my best to tune to the overall skill level of the group. For this experience I will lead you through a beautiful trail in the Woodstock area of the Catskill Mountains. On this journey there will be captivating mountain top views that you will see as we make our way to our first checkpoint. Once we've arrived to the first check point you will then have the option to decide the destination of the second checkpoint of the experience for your yoga class. Options are beautiful cascading waterfall or a panoramic view overlooking the beautiful terrain of the Hudson Valley. Once we've arrived to your desired destination we will set up our yoga mats and I will guide you through a gentle vinyasa yoga class. The class will be tailored to your level of experience and needs. Other things to note You should dress in comfortable clothing that is weather appropriate. Bring a water bottle and hiking shoes. *You can opt out the yoga class and experience a full 2 hour hiking experience, if it is preferable.*

*GROUP DISCOUNTS FOR 2+ PEOPLE* Learn the basics of stained glass copper foil technique and go home with your own stained glass suncatcher you made yourself! The workshop includes instruction on how to design and structure your piece, create a pattern + template, cut glass, use a diamond grinder, apply and burnish copper foil, and assemble and solder the pieces together. Great for couples, groups and team-building! You may choose from existing templates or create your own design - I will help modify it based on skill level and timing. You will get to select from many glass colors to build your piece. Copper foil is a great intro to the art of stained glass. In taking this workshop you will also learn about the more advanced technique of traditional leaded glass, the differences between the two techniques, + the advantages and disadvantages to each. Proper safety precautions will be taught alongside each step and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided along w/ all materials. Masks are not required at this time, but are highly recommended for the soldering step to block the fumes. This is a 2nd-floor studio so you will be need to be able to climb a flight of stairs. If you are booking in a colder season, make sure you wear layers (though the barn is heated). There is no food allowed for safety reasons, but you may bring a snack if you eat it outside.

Your visit will begin with a brief tour of our farm and introductions to some of our smaller friends (i.e. Pygoras goats, Sheep and overly friendly Barn Cats ) with a short story of our 1850 homestead located in The Historic Hudson Valley on 25 bucolic acres . Next, Introduction to Llama/Alpaca 101 and why these soft and fluffy critters are the new Unicorn of animals. We will cover basic safety rules and answer any questions before we begin our trek. We will guide your Llama/Alpaca trek through gentle pastures, paddocks, past a stocked Bass pond and encourage Llama/Alpaca Selfies along the way. We hope to leave you a few minutes at the end to stop by the Farm Store and find a special farm memento. Please note that high heels and flip flops are not encouraged and bug spray(during warmer months only) is recommended. This experience is for participants 8yrs and older. **Subject to change: Construction may impact our trails, but as of 4/8/24, our hike is still open at this time** Our journey begins in Cold Spring, NY (right on the border of Beacon, NY) where we'll meet. The beginning of the trail is a short walk from the train station or parking area. I'll be prepared with snacks, water, first aid kit and ponchos and other hiking essentials for our 3 mile hike. The first part of our hike will be a tough, steep, uphill hike, requiring the use of your hands for climbs over boulders and walls, but we'll go at your group's pace with plenty of time to take in scenery, hydrate, and learn. The final 1.5 miles of our hike is all downhill! Along the way, you'll have sweeping views of the Hudson River, historic architecture like Bannerman Castle, and sometimes wildlife such as northern fence lizards or hawks. If you're lucky, you might see hawks hunting in the valley below as you watch from above at the peak of our hike. The trail eventually loops back to Route 9D. Our route should take about 3.5 hours, give or take, depending on your pace and level of experience. I can't wait to show you the beauty of Breakneck Ridge and the Hudson Valley!
