숙소
Our Northwest Contemporary home is snuggled in the foothills of Mt. Rainier on the southeast edge of the Seattle metro area. Our neighborhood, Frederickson/South Hill, sits atop a bluff overlooking the confluence of the Carbon and Puyallup rivers. The guest wing of our home features two private bedrooms (one set up as an entertainment room with full size day bed) and a private full bath.

We have a large backyard with garden, orchard, and a terraced slope filled with strawberries as well as grape and kiwi vines. It includes a large patio with a table which comfortably seats six. A separate patio area features a propane fire pit with seating for two. For those rainy months, we have two covered porches with seating -- perfect for curling up under a blanket with a warm latte and a good book while the rain falls in the surrounding second-growth forest. In addition, a small neighborhood park is situated just one block from our front door.

We are centrally located to the best that maritime Washington has to offer. The summit of Mt. Rainier is approximately 19 miles southeast and 14,000 feet above our home. Via road, the Carbon River entrance to the park is 32 miles and the Nisqually entrance is 43 miles down winding mountain highways which begin near our home. Downtown Seattle is a 46-mile drive or a comfortable ride on commuter rail. Central Tacoma is 14 miles northwest; a destination in itself, the city's famed Tacoma Narrows Bridge also permits access to the Kitsap Peninsula and Olympic National Park beyond. To the south, Mount Saint Helens Volcanic Monument is a 2 hour drive, with Portland, Oregon just an hour beyond that. The Pacific Ocean beaches are approximately 70 minutes to the west. Vancouver, British Columbia is a 3 hour drive to the north or a relaxing ride on Amtrak's Cascades line which has a stop in Tacoma.

게스트 이용 가능 공간/시설
Our guest wing, separated by the stairwell from the rest of the home, is composed of two bedrooms and a bathroom for your private use during your stay.

The first room is a private bedroom with a full-size cherry bedroom set, complete with 7 large drawers and a wide closet with shoe racks to allow you to comfortably spread out during your stay. The plush pillow top mattress is perfect for those who enjoy soft bedding. A 22" television with DVD player and Amazon Fire TV Stick access allows you to stream your favorite online programming, such as Hulu or Netflix. A luggage rack is provided for your convenience, as well as a separate oil heater (in addition to the central heat) and window air conditioning unit so that you may adjust the climate to perfection. On a clear evening, this is the best room in the home for viewing the sunset, particularly in the winter when the sun sets below the cloud deck in the southwestern sky.

The second private bedroom doubles as an entertainment room, with a full-sized day bed that also functions as a deep sofa. The memory foam mattress is firm, as opposed to the soft pillow-top mattress in the first bedroom, allowing you to find your Goldilocks zone. An oak armoire opens to a Bose Sound System and 40" television with nearly 200 satellite stations and internet access to your favorite online programming, such as Hulu and Netflix. An over-sized wardrobe and a wide closet with shoe racks provide ample space for unpacking during your stay and storing your luggage. The large window overlooks a small neighborhood park down the block. In the winter, when the sun only rises as high as the southern sky, this is one of the sunniest rooms in the home.

Across the hallway is a private bathroom with dual sinks, shower/tub combo, and toilet. A white marble counter top, ceramic tile, and glass shower door provide a bright, modern setting while the privacy-screened window opens the room without compromising modesty. Plush white Macy's Hotel Collection bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths, coupled with dual hand showers, help to create a spa-like setting. You will find plenty of drawer and cabinet space, as well as multiple outlets, to accommodate your grooming regimen.

Finally, guests have access to our laundry room, our kitchen for light meal preparation, and our spacious back yard patios, garden, and orchard. The back yard has a large paver patio with night time lighting and table which comfortably seats six. Nearby is a second paver patio featuring an easy-start propane fire pit with seating for two. For those rainy winter days, our covered back porch has two lounge chairs in which to snuggle in a blanket with a latte and watch the rain pool in the surrounding woods. If you prefer a more social outdoor setting, our covered front porch features a love seat with views of the neighborhood and sunset.

기타 주의사항
With regard to young children, my sister (mother of 3 young boys) would point out that we have a glass coffee table, stairs, and many glass decorations. We believe that parents are in the best position to determine whether or not accommodations are right for their kids, and we have provided extensive photos to aid with that decision. Supervision of children is required at all times. Of note, our home is a block away from a small neighborhood park equipped with a swing set.

There is plenty of parking in our over-sized driveway. The guest wing offers unobstructed views of your vehicle. In addition, a Ring security system monitors the driveway, entrance ways, and perimeter of the home. 24/7 security monitoring is also present in the main living room and home offices. Our neighborhood is a safe, sleepy suburban setting off the main thoroughfares; however, crime can happen anywhere, particularly crimes of convenience. Please lock the doors to your vehicle and the doors to our home, as you would likely do with your own home.

Given our proximity to Puget Sound, it rarely is cold enough to snow at our home, though one of the snowiest places on Earth (where snow levels are regularly recorded) is just up the road -- Paradise at Mt. Rainier [record 1971-72 snowfall of 93.5 feet]. In the rare event of a snowstorm, we are equipped with shovels and snow brushes to help get you on your way.

We offer a comfortable stay surrounded by the best of the Northwest!

위치

퓨알럽(Puyallup), 워싱턴, 미국

Downtown Puyallup sits in a valley formed when glacial and volcanic deposits from Mt. Rainier filled in a portion of Puget Sound. Its fertile soil is optimal for the acres of daffodils which are grown for distribution world-wide and are featured in the town's annual spring parade. The Puyallup River meanders between foothills and through a glacial basin, originating at its name-sake glacier on Mt. Rainier and terminating in the Puget Sound at the Port of Tacoma. It is cold, silty, and brown, sometimes green. Different species of salmon run the river at various times the year. From most perspectives in the town of Puyallup, Mt. Rainier is visible to the southeast.

Downtown Puyallup has several notable landmarks, including Ezra Meeker's mansion, which was built and inhabited by one of the town's founding families who made their way to Puyallup via the Oregon trail. The downtown shopping district is made up of historic buildings which date to the town's origin. Pioneer Park is a community gathering point which boasts a public library, a park with a playground, and walking paths. As the focal point of the park, there is a bronze statue honoring Ezra Meeker. A new element is a performance stage adjacent to the public library where local musicians put on free shows. Southeast Puyallup is also where the Pierce County Foothills Trail begins - a 30 mile rails-to-trails project with connections to the extensive King County trail system opening as of 2019 and future expansion to the Carbon River entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park.

Ezra Meeker Mansion
1890 Italianate Victorian home of Oregon Trail pioneer Ezra Meeker and his wife Eliza Jane Meeker. Known as the Hop King, he ultimately lost a fortune due to a disease in the hops. He is more famous for following the Oregon Trail throughout his later years and erecting monuments along the trail to remind people of its history. Today the home is a museum owned and operated by the Puyallup Historical Society at Meeker Mansion (formerly the Ezra Meeker Historical Society); the mansion can be rented for weddings or other social events.

Puyallup is home to the Washington State Fairgrounds, site of the largest annual fair in Washington. The Washington State Fair is also one of the ten largest fairs in the country, attracting over 1 million people per year. The city itself is built around the Fairgrounds which can be seen prominently from neighboring South Hill. The fair traditionally runs for seventeen days in September and, as the "Spring Fair", for four days in April. The fair serves as an anchor for unique local businesses and restaurants. "Do The Puyallup" has been a longstanding promotional slogan.

Daffodil Festival Parade
Puyallup also hosts and is the origin of the annual four-part Daffodil Parade, which takes place every year in Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner, and Orting.

The parade includes many groups and their floats, most of which are covered in daffodils or are themed in the daffodil season. Most of the local junior high and high school marching bands also participate. Car clubs, veterans groups, and several local businesses are a part of the parade.

Antique District
Puyallup is known for its myriad of antiques stores, many of which are located next to each other on the main north-south street of Meridian. Puyallup is one of many cities and towns in Washington that contains an 'old-fashioned' downtown shopping area.

Arts Downtown Outdoor Gallery
Starting in 1995, the regional nonprofit organization Valley Arts United began working with local volunteers to support a rotating selection of outdoor public artwork. Consisting mostly of statuary dispersed about the downtown core, this collection has grown to about 32 permanent pieces. New works are added regularly.

Farmers' Market
Downtown Puyallup's farmers' market takes place every Saturday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m to 2 p.m.) from early May to late October. Many locals gather to sell home-grown produce and plants, baked goods, and crafts. The market is at Pioneer Park, in the modern pavilion building next to the library.

My husband Ryan and I have a well-kept, clean, well-decorated home nestled in the foothills south of Puyallup, WA where the southeast suburbs of Pugetopolis stretch toward Mt. Rainier. We also have a bright, modern vacation home perched high above the ocean in Pacific Beach, WA. We are neat, clean, friendly, and know how to make others feel right at home. Whether you are a people person or a hermit crab, we will respect your privacy and space. We have a black Labrador Retriever who is very friendly and well-mannered. His name is Duke and he is very much a part of our family. We rescued him from the local shelter when he was young. We have also adopted a stray Tonkinese cat who showed up emaciated on our back porch one winter -- she is sweet and adorable but terrified of people secondary to presumed abuse, so you are unlikely to see anything more than a fleeting glimpse of her tail as she scurries to her hiding places under our couches. When we first let her into our home we called her KiKi, and the name has stuck. For those with allergies to cats, please note that she lives in our Puyallup home and is not allowed in the guest rooms. I have worked in Information Technology since the early nineties. In 2013, I began transitioning to self-employment and now run my own firm primarily from my home office. We grow most of our own produce via time-honored, sustainable methods which -- though labor intensive -- help keep our corner of the Earth thriving for future generations. We have a small orchard business for selling our excess fruit and vegetables to friends and neighbors during more bountiful years. We are educated, gay, and are open to all walks of life.
