We prepare fully for each and every guest, including providing fresh, local and homemade breakfast items and snacks. We love to host guests who understand we provide a special experience that is customized just for them. This requires that our guests understand we take the time to curate a uniquely customized experience, which is why we have a moderate cancellation policy. Don't let this worry you as we often reschedule guests, though we do follow our cancellation policy if you are unable to reschedule.
*Guesthouse has one common wall with the main house-an unused dining room. This should not affect your privacy! Read our guest reviews and see!

The separate bedroom allows your partner to watch television or work on their computer while you nap with no distractions.

Excellent Wireless Internet

Blue Ray player available with selection of films and access to Netflix and Youtube, Pandora, etc . Bring your favorite DVDs or visit the nearby Couch Critic video store in Mount Shasta, within walking distance. (We ask our guest to please not disconnect our Blue Ray system when visiting.)

An assortment of puzzles, cards and games available in the console under the television.

You'll even find our fun, adult Bigfoot paper doll set, with his own set of clothing to play with! Hilarious! We love the crazy costumes our guests leave him wearing.

Brand new wood burning stove with heat blower, firewood provided, instructions for operation of the stove in the cottage. You'll enjoy the glass viewing door, watch the fire as you relax on the comfie couch.

Outdoor deck with gas BBQ grill. Private deck is spacious, private and perfect for enjoying a relaxed al fresco meal together...in late spring and summer.

Cottage, spa and deck is for exclusive guest use during your stay.

During the summer and late spring your host may be tending to the veggie garden in the backyard but we will generally wait until you are out exploring!
Take a nap on our outdoor swing bed!

We have had lots of animal traffic on the game trail in the woods behind our property lately! Bear sightings have been frequent! Deer, bear, foxes, opossums, and even wild turkeys are frequently seen on the trail. Good news is there is no house behind us so you can enjoy the spa with only the critters watching!
i
Recently a black bear has been visiting our front yard so please be careful if walking late at night or early morning in the neighborhood!

위치

Mount Shasta, 캘리포니아, 미국

Quiet residential neighborhood, very close to downtown Mount Shasta City, restaurants and shopping. Very walkable! We recommend walking like a local! If you want to stay at an Airbnb listing in a Mount Shasta City residential neighborhood to live local, we are one of the very few legitimate, licensed listings in a residential neighborhood. We are classified as a B&B under our conditional use permit.

The small patch of woods behind our property provides a tranquil setting. You may see deer, squirrels, fox, raccoons, opossums, and even an occasional Black Bear on a wildlife trail just behind our back yard! Ask to see a photo of our bear visitor when you come to stay!

Berryvale Market, the local organic food store, is right at the bottom of our street. They have an excellent deli where you may purchase all types of delicious and health-conscious items. Yummy smoothies as well! There is plenty of indoor seating if you want to eat in.

Local movie theater is never busy! You'll get a kick out of this small town cinema! Some of the smaller theater rooms are like a private media center in your own home! A great option for a rainy day!

Another rainy day option is to visit Stewart Mineral Springs, just north off Highway 5. Take a relaxing soak or book a private mineral bath or massage!

Take a yoga or meditation class at the Shasta Yoga Center at the bottom of our street.

The great casual restaurant, Bistro #107, is located at the bottom of our street. Great burgers, garlic fries, a good selection of local beer, salads and soup in a relaxed atmosphere at a great price. Warm days you can eat on the deck with a view of the comings and goings on the main street in Mount Shasta. A very quick walk from our cottage!

Pipeline Craft Taps and Kitchen is a new restaurant downtown with amazing food and a hip vibe that adds to the character of downtown! Try the Thai Cauliflower appetizer! So good!

In summer, bring your mountain bike and travel up the ski lifts for a wild ride!

In winter, Mount Shasta Ski Park has runs for all levels, and for the non-skier, enjoy sledding on the tube run and be transported to the top after each downhill slide on the magic carpet. Hang out with a cozy beverage and watch the skiers! Lighted night skiing available at a reduced lift ticket price-not always available.

Visit the Nordic Center for cross country skiing in winter. Run by a local non-profit. $15.00-20.00 per person to use the beautifully groomed cross country trails all day. EXCELLENT!

Cross country ski rentals available at the Nordic Center trail head for cross country skiing or in town for downhill and snowboarding at :

The Sportsman's Den at the end of our street, Shasta Base Camp on Mount Shasta Blvd or at the Fifth Season also on Mount Shasta Blvd.-all located on the main street in the downtown area. SUP (Paddle boards) and kayaks available at the Shasta Base Camp.

You can drive to the top of our street to cross country ski on the abandoned railroad tracks or on the mountain biking trails for FREE. It is beautiful up there-conditions permitting.

If you plan to indulge in some local wine or brews, our local law enforcement takes a DUI very seriously! Don't risk it! Just ask us and we can pick you up if you plan to indulge in town!

10 minutes to Lake Siskiyou. Swim, fish, boat, kayak, SUP rentals, picnic and hike. You can rent a party boat in the summer! Super fun! Great to rent water equipment at Lake Siskiyou so you do not have to transport the kayaks or SUP.

Lake Siskiyou also has a special area at the beach with GIANT inflatable water toys in summer! $7.00 per person to use this area. Main beach is free with day use fee. There is a great grill restaurant at the campground that has beer, wine, pizza, burgers, berry cobbler and much more! Surprisingly good for a campground grill.

Walk up our road to access hiking trails. We are happy to share directions for our favorite hikes in Shasta area. Loads of waterfalls, springs, and mountain top views!

Easy drive up to Mount Shasta from Hideaway Cottage. Turn right on the first street on your right as you leave the cottage headed to the town- Washington Ave. Stay on that road and you will be up on the mountain in about 20 minutes! (You will pass the High School on the way) Washington Ave. changes to Everett Memorial Highway near the high school. Be sure to hike up to Horse Camp and experience the causeway-an amazing trail of boulders used by mountaineers on the way to the summit. Make sure to hire a local guide if you plan to summit-it can be dangerous not to have someone who really knows the mountain.

Visit the headwaters of the Sacramento River and drink the cold, clean water that is rumored to provide healing and peace. Look for signs for the City Park north of town-stay on the Siskiyous Blvd. and head north. Park is on the left, and you will cross the tracks. Look for Spring Hill Nursery right across from the Park.

Thai food, Mexican food, as well as several other restaurants with American traditional options. Bistro 107 is a new, casual restaurant right at the bottom of our street within a very quick walk! On a warm day you will see many locals enjoying the sun on their two decks. Burgers are great and they have a great selection of beer! Try the house made veggie burger and have it Cabernet style! Laurie's favorite!

Dunsmuir, a nearby historic town, has a wonderful restaurant for special celebrations. Be sure to ask us to make you a reservation for Cafe Maddalena! Foodies, you will be impressed and delighted! You WILL need a reservation! Just send us a text or email with your date and time and we will be happy to make the reservation for you. It is a bit pricey but WELL worth it!

Spend part of the day in the nearby historic town of Dunsmuir. After a great breakfast at the Wheelhouse across from the train depot (ask them to make crispy hash browns!), visit the Dunsmuir Botanical Garden, the historic railway depot, take the short hike to Hedge Creek Falls or explore Mossbrae Falls-if you dare! Fish in the Sacramento River! Local fly fishing expertise can be found right in town. Stop into the historic hardware store. It is worth a visit!

We have an excellent coffee house in Mount Shasta; Seven Suns, located in South Mount Shasta or Yaks downtown. We stock our local coffee roaster's coffee inside the cottage and you can stop in at Northbound Coffee Roasters to see the coffee being roasted. If you are headed south try Seven Suns for a coffee and a homemade slice of vegan zucchini bread for the road!

The local Oven Bakery is within walking distance. Try the whole grain sourdough, spelt sourdough or one of their enormous scones! (Share with your partner!) If they are closed you can take some home by stopping at the Farmer's Market or shopping at The Mount Shasta Supermarket-a quaint old time grocery on Chestnut Street. The Oven Bakery creates two specialty pizzas on Friday nights-one with meat and one that is vegetarian variety.

Mount Shasta Pastry has the BEST bear claws, but you need to arrive early before they are all gone! They are crispy and loaded with cinnamon-not your usual bear claws!

Weekly Farmer's Market starting around Memorial Day (Monday) through mid-October. Great place to stock up on local honey, produce, locally made sauerkraut, pottery, seedlings, sunflowers and breads. Enjoy the local musicians at the market while you shop.

Try the new Garden Tap beer garden and wood fired pizza at the Native Grounds Nursery! Open Thurs.-Sunday, 4PM until 9, but they stop baking pizza at 8:00 PM. Great atmosphere! Open until October when it is too chilly.

Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck of the Mount Shasta Resort or play a round of golf. The towns of Lake Shastina and McCloud have courses for the avid golfer. Ask your host Randy for his recommendations or if you need a person to play a round with!

The town of McCloud is an excellent day trip. Drive to the McCloud Falls-a series of three beautiful waterfalls. Hike the 4 mile round trip or drive to each fall's overlook. Stop in to the tiny town of McCloud to shop at the Mercantile. if the White Mountain Cafe is open, they have great breakfasts and lunch. A new tavern and meat market is open on the deck of the Mercantile. You can make a reservation for dinner at the downtown Inn and B&B.

If you are staying for several days, the 1 hour and 15 minute drive to Ashland, Oregon is well worth the time! Wine tasting, fabulous restaurants, beautiful Lithia Park, wonderful shops and boutiques make it a day to remember. For a quick lunch that is very inexpensive and our favorite quick spot in Ashland, be sure to order the Baja Tacos at "Agave." Nothing fancy, just consistently delicious food! Guacamole with their homemade tortilla chips is a MUST! Try their lava cake and be sure to add the house made coconut ice cream! You can wash this all down with a premium Margarita!

If you visit during the holidays, Ashland's downtown village is a fairy land of beautiful lights-a MUST see! Ashland is known for the Shakespeare Festival and has theater of all kinds throughout the year. Order tickets for the Cabaret Theater in an old church for an affordable theater experience! Brunch of dinner is served and the theater is quite intimate-a great experience!

A visit to Jacksonville, north of Ashland is another fun adventure. It is an adorable, historic, mining town, famous for the Britt Festival outdoor concert venue and many historic homes. Jacksonville was supposed to be the Oregon state capital but the railroad bypassed the town due to the rolling hills. Fun shops and eateries are located in downtown Jacksonville. The Britt is a gorgeous outdoor music venue hosting well-known musicians and symphony during the late spring and summer months.

Pluto Cave; a lava cave feature, is an interesting place to explore, located north of Mount Shasta City. A non-commercial, non-managed site so caution is required for your safety. Find details in our trail guide in the cottage.

Shasta Caverns are managed privately and the tour includes a boat ride, bus ride and guided cave tour. Tickets available online. Best to book the first tour of the day in summer-avoid the heat and enjoy a nearly private tour most weekdays if you book the 9AM tour.

We love to explore, travel, go camping, kayaking, hiking, attending outdoor concerts and spending time in the beautiful Mount Shasta area. We enjoy going to the movies and trying out new restaurants. We love to use Airbnb to spend time exploring charming little towns and getting to know more about our new area as transplanted Southern Californians. Laurie is a college professor and a workshop facilitator for the Anti-Defamation League. Randy is a retired engineer. Laurie enjoys gardening, baking, hiking, running, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, hanging out with family, and going to the local festivals. Randy is busy with home renovation and Hideaway maintenance plus golfing with several clubs in our area and in Southern California. We love traveling and using Airbnb as guests so we can improve our own guest experience at the Hideaway B&B, while meeting interesting people. We have been quite surprised by the number of International travelers who have stayed with us at the Hideaway! We have hosted guests from The United Arab Emerance, France, Wales. England, Spain, Israel, China. Japan and Australia. This is an exciting way to learn more about the world and to share our beautiful area with others from around the world! We love making our guests feel comfortable and at home. Whether you enjoy complete privacy or want to join us for happy hour, we will make your stay a memorable one! It is YOUR vacation! We like to say, "Why limit HAPPY to just one hour?" Our motto this year is "EVEN MORE FUN in 2018!" We look forward to meeting YOU soon! Laurie and Randy
