From their website:
Bryce Canyon is the ultimate place to learn about and enjoy the splendor of the night sky. Far from the light pollution of civilization... Bryce Canyon is the last grand sanctuary of natural darkness. The night sky at Bryce is so dark we can see 7500 stars on a moonless night! Here the Milky Way extends from horizon to horizon like a vast silver rainbow! Here Venus, and even Jupiter, are bright enough to cause you to cast a shadow!

GOOD TO KNOW
~ Private bathroom is accessed through bedroom.
~ Space for your luggage. Closet rod for hanging clothes with large shelves inside the closet.
~ A ceiling fan makes the room comfortable during the hottest days of summer. Two opening windows allow for outside air circulation, as desired.
~ We live in a rural area—you may hear birds singing in the morning, crickets chirping in the evening, dogs barking, roosters crowing, this sort of thing. We supply earplugs if you think these kinds of sounds may disturb your sleep.

HISTORY OF OUR HOME
This house began life as a 2 room log cabin built from the beams of a dismantled barn around the turn of the century. Over the past 120 years various occupants added rooms and made improvements. Rebecca's Great Uncle George owned the home for 40+ years. Among other changes and additions, George wired the house for electricity and dug a basement under the existing floor plan by crawling under the foundation, filling a 5 gallon buckets with dirt, and passing the buckets out to his wife who emptied the buckets and returned them to be filled again. We don't know how long that took, but it must have been a pretty big project! After Uncle George's death we purchased the home and made our own improvements and updates. Clay removed lathe and plaster, exposing the original logs in the living room. We love the look, so we cleaned, sealed and chinked the logs, preserving a bit of early Tropic history. Clay has refinished and remodeled every room in the home, as well as putting out a dormer and making the attic space into a bedroom for our daughters. He also constructed our free standing studio building over the existing root cellar. Not long after we moved in, an elderly couple came to visit and told us that she, and her twin, were born in this house, delivered by a local midwife. Not only that, but she told us that most of her 13 siblings we also born in this house and delivered by a different midwife: “Aunt Dee,” as she was affectionately known—Rebecca's Great Grandmother! When we moved into the house 20 years ago there were still many people living in the county who had been delivered by Aunt Dee. Due to the historical nature of our home it is on the small side, by contemporary standards, but is comfortable, cozy, and functional!

We are self-employed visual artists. Clay is a contemporary landscape painter. Rebecca paints still-lifes and figures, and is a traditional hand book binder. And we make fine artisan soaps & body products. We've lived in beautiful Garfield County Utah for 25 years and we love the high desert.
