I would like to say thank you for the positive notes in your review. I am very much a real person. I own an airbnb management company which helps hosts with check-ins, cleaning etc. We are a team of people which allows for someone to be available at all times, but clearly there were errors in communication during your stay. For that I am very sorry. I am going through the correspondence with you to see how this could've been prevented as this is definitely not the way we normally operate.
Regarding the late checkout fee; if you were wanting to checkout an hour or two late, that would not have been a problem and we would not have charged you, but given the fact that you wanted to checkout at a much later time that would preclude us from accepting a booking for that night, we had to block our calendar to prevent another booking from coming in. Charging a half day rate is common practice in the industry and we feel that it is fair.
I do apologize that the garden was overgrown. We have since resolved this issue. We have only just started looking after the property and were still getting a few niggles ironed out when you were staying there.
I am sorry that the overall experience for you was not an entirely pleasant one. If you decide to come back to Cape Ton again in future please let me know so that we can make sure that you are properly looked after. I wish you safe travels and a good journey home.
