숙소
Stalker's Lodge is an extremely comfortable architect designed house with generous living space, including a fabulous double-height sitting room extension with wood burner and huge windows that make the most of the stunning views. Sit back on the comfy seating and watch the birds and red squirrels on the feeders.
Warm & luxurious
The house is beautifully warm at all times of year and eco friendly too, thanks to the biomass boiler which runs off waste timber from the estate. You'll find crisp cotton sheets on the comfortable Hypnos beds, snug feather duvets, fluffy towels, underfloor heating in the bathrooms and handmade organic soap, shower gel and shampoo from The Highland Soap Company.
Downstairs
The semi-open plan ground floor has plenty of living space for everyone to spread out in. There's a sleek modern kitchen with stone worktops and an island unit with hob and seating - perfect for convivial cooking. The kitchen has high quality Neff appliances including a large larder fridge, dishwasher and induction hob. It is well equipped with a large range of quality pans, knives, dishes, food processor and other essential utensils.
Just off the kitchen is the sitting/ dining room with a table that seats up to 10 and a comfy corner sofa to relax on and watch TV. Next door is the glass fronted sitting room extension with more comfortable seating, wood burner and a second TV. Sliding glass doors open to the deck to the front and to the patio at the back where there is a table for outdoor eating.
The all important boot room to the rear provides plenty of space for outdoor gear, dog beds and drying things. There is a washer/ dryer and a WC just beyond.
Upstairs
There are three bedrooms, all with comfortable Hypnos zip link beds that be made up as kingsize doubles or twins. The beds have feather duvets and pillows (synthetic can be provided on request) and will be made up for you on arrival. There are two luxurious bathrooms with underfloor heating (1 en suite with shower only, and one shared bathroom with bath and separate shower). Towels and organic shower gel, shampoo and soaps are provided.
Music
A wireless music system with built-in ceiling speakers allows you to play music from your smart phone or iPad in any, or all of, the rooms on the ground floor (please note that streaming music is not possible in the house so you need to download your music before you come - see paragraph below re internet).
Outside
There is small area of lawn to the front and a larger garden to the rear with swings and a slide for children, a terrace with outdoor seating and a Weber barbecue.
Families
We have a cot and highchairs available on request and two travel cots (space in the bedrooms is quite limited with a cot but it is possible). There are board games, DVDs, toys and books in the house and outside there are swings and a slide and other garden games such as cricket and a football net. The garden is securely fenced and the private access road is very quiet.
Dogs
We welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs over 1 year old. Dogs are not allowed on the sofas or beds and must sleep overnight in the boot room (please contact us to discuss if this will be a problem as we can occasionally make exceptions). The garden is fenced but dogs must not be left outside unsupervised. As this is a working estate with sheep and cattle, dogs must be kept on a lead around livestock but there are plenty of places you can let your dog run, including the 5 acre Millennium Wood which is securely deer fenced.
Activities
There's masses to do from your door, from walking and wildlife watching, to fishing or boating on the loch or a game of tennis on the hard tennis court a short distance away (boats and tennis court only available for use from 1 April to 31 October). Straloch is a great place for bikes - children love peddling along the quiet back drive to the Walled Garden or Millennium Wood and there are plenty of options for mountain and road biking. There is a lockable bike shed for your use.
We also have a bespoke picnic service - order from a menu of delicious options, choose your location, and we will do the rest! Locations include the lunch hut high up in the heater hills, the island on the loch, down by the river or the pagoda in the Walled Garden.
Games room
There's a games room with pool table and table tennis - perfect for evening entertainment or when the weather is not so good.
