I am glad you enjoyed your stay and am sorry you had troubles with the space. In the ad I do provide a description of the neighborhood as being suburban and (historically) black. The ad also mentions in multiple spaces, including the basic description, that is an apartment and therefore is in an apartment building. My building is the only apartment building on the block therefore I am surprised that you both thought this space was in a home and that you struggled to find the building. Just to be clear to you and all future guests, I live in an apartment building. That said it seems like my friendly (safe) neighbors were helpful to you which is common, they are all nice people around here.
There are some things I can help and some things that will be out of my control. I can control the lighting inside of my unit but have no control and therefore bear no responsibility for lighting on the street, in front of or inside of the building and do hope that you and others take that into consideration. That said the address for the building is in 12" high bright gold letters on the front of the building.
To you and all future guest do keep in mind that I do not control when you arrive and how the sun may be when you arrive. Check in time is anytime after 3 pm, if you decide to check in at 10 pm it will be dark, this is the same for every neighborhood in DC and just about every place on earth, do keep this in mind.
I often compare my area to living in Queens NYC, it is a nice suburban area with houses, yards and children playing at night. However it is still a major city with all of the things that come with a major city and should be treated as such. Considering the wealth of crimes against humanity that occur in Washington DC, my area is pretty benign. It is also worth considering that I have had 100+ women guests navigate their way from wherever they came from to my apartment doors all unscathed including yours truly who has lived here alone for years.
I hope you enjoyed your experience overall and know that you are welcome to book again!
