"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart" are wise words of wise Nelson Mandela. During the day we are going to have a crash course of Bahasa Indonesia - starting from a short introduction of the language up to simple phrases which you will be using at the end of the day, read further and you will know how:) The whole day will be spent in 3 locations - local cafes where our talk about the language will be seasoned with various foods - from beautifully presented smoothies and Bali coffee to Indonesian delicacies. Why so? Indonesian language is all about food, so we will combine both - we will eat and we will learn at the same time. The main subjects of the crash course will cover: - Pronunciation - Greetings - Numbers - Main local dishes - Ordering food and paying. You will be provided with printouts that you may use during your stay in Indonesia and will be helpful as a basis to continue the language further. At the end of the day, we will be having a dinner in a local eatery - warung - where you will be able to manage simple conversation with staff ordering your dinner. Sounds fun? Then - Ayo!
Although being not Indonesian by blood, my heart is Indonesian. It was a long way for me to reach this level of fondness to this beautiful country and it's people, food, language. Once I told myself - "I will never-ever try to learn any single word in your language" and yet, 10 years after I was standing in front of the group of foreign student in Jakarta teaching them Bahasa Indonesia. Lesson learnt - "Never say Never":) Understanding Indonesian language opened so many doors to me in this fabulous country - starting from ability to travel easier to understanding the way Indonesian people live, to mention a bit.
