First we'll meet by Koenji station, famous for it's vintage clothes stores, live music venues, and Izakaya bars. We'll go to three specialty coffee shops, where every drink is made fresh to order from specially curated, locally roasted, single origin beans. We can chat with the baristas and learn more about the artisanal craft of making coffee. Each shop has a unique vibe with local art exhibits and products too. We'll also do a walking tour of the area, checking out the street art, fashion, vintage clothing stores, and other alternative shops of the neighborhood. I'll also recommend several different restaurants, bars , and live music venues in the neighborhood and make sure you can get the full, authentic Koenji experience.
The first coffee is on me!
Born and raised in Seattle, USA, I've been a big time coffee drinker my entire life. After living in "Tokyo's coolest neighborhood", Koenji, for two years now, I've discovered some of the best places to go for an artisanal Japanese coffee experience. Japanese coffee culture is so much different than anywhere else in the world. Koenji stands out among Tokyo's neighborhoods for it's distinct, hip, artistic cafes . I'd love to share the unique coffee and alternative culture of this neighborhood I call home with travelers visiting Japan.
We'll visit three local, artisanal, cafes and coffee shops. Each has it's own unique vibe, showcasing work from local artists, specialty products, and selections of single origin, locally roasted coffee beans. We'll also do a walking tour of the neighborhood's famous street art, boutique vintage clothing stores, izakaya bars, and live-music venues. During the tour you'll get to know the authentic side of Koenji.
