I have another single room in the same house on Airbnb here https://www.airbnb.ie/rooms/5835782?s=51.
A very clean, and quiet single dormer room (in the attic but with a dormer window with views to the front of the house). You will likely have exclusive use of the bathroom but in the event that both rooms are booked you may have to share with the other guest. The area is well served by public transport with busses and trains running to the city (4 or 5 stops on Dart train) every 10 mins within a 6 min walk. The beach in on the doorstep for walkers with a fabulous 10km round trip walk out to Poolbeg Lighthouse a 10 min stroll from the house along the beach promenade. There is a 24 hours shop within 200 metres and Sandymount village is a 15 min walk along the beach - there are restaurants, cafes take-aways, pubs, pharmacies, hairdressers, book shop, supermarkets and some lovely clothing boutiques and shoe shops - in fact you'll find everything you could possibly need for a short break. Taxi to city will cost about 10 euro and 25/30 euro to airport. The Aircoach Airport bus passes every hour from St. Vincents Hospital, a 10 mins walk from the house and will get you to the airport within 35 - 55 mins. This leaves you at the entrance door of the airport.
Availability & check-in NOTE:
- check-in is after 6.30/7 M-F (anytime on w/e TBA day before ) If the dates you require are not available on the listing please message me as I keep some dates blocked off and can release them for you. I can only do room change-overs after 7pm so I block one night at the end of every reservation to give me time to do the changeover, however if you can wait until 8pm for the room then message me and I will open up the last night of the previous booking so it can be booked.
- there are 2 single rooms available, one with tea/coffee making facilities and one without. I work 9-6 M-F so check-in outside of these hours needs to be agreed before booking to avoid having to hang about . Flexible check-in on weekends.
Please read and then re-read the House Rules before booking just in case there's anything there you're unhappy with - thank you! You have a responsibility to read them - no point in being upset when you arrive and its too late. Message me BEFORE booking if you are unhappy with anything and I will always try to bend them to facilitate you eg maybe you have an early morning flight and want to shower before 6.30am etc. There's nothing unreasonable there, they just help ensure a better 'fit' between guest and host and help align expectations meaning no annoying surprises. Over 85% of my reviews are all 5 star but the occasional bad review has almost always been the result of a guest not having read the House Rules before booking and becoming upset upon arrival at being asked to either remove their shoes, use the complimentary crocs or be reminded during their stay, to leave the bathroom clean (and as they'd like to find it themselves ) - these are my only bug bears :) . Beyond these, I would like you to make my home, your home for the duration of your stay, come and go as you please and make yourself at home.
About the 2 rooms:
One of the rooms is used by my children so it's not just exclusively used for Airbnb, so you will find items belonging to my tween there. The other (without the coffee making facilities) is for the exclusive use of Airbnb.
You may have to share the bathroom with one other (if both rooms are booked).
The bedrooms are located on 1st floor of the house well away from the hustle and bustle of family life which takes place in the basement (2 floors below).
No smoking anywhere near the house where the risk of smoke blow-back through open windows could occur please.
We have a lilac Burmese cat called Caspy, who might sneak through the front door as you enter and this is no problem but I'd be grateful if you could confine him to the black room as you enter and not allow him into the stairwell of the house. We try to confine him to the basement but he often takes advantage of new guests and sneaks in :)
Sandymount Village, awash with local bakeries, gift shops, boutiques and cafes. Sandymount Strand is also a quick jaunt away from the village, grab some fresh fish and golden chips, with liberal amounts of salt and vinegar, and investigate the most famous beach in Irish fiction. James Joyce’s novel Ulysses was set here, and indeed you can see the Sandymount Martello Tower here, too. W.B. Yeats was born here, and Seamus Heaney lived in Sandymount for many years.
Restaurants & pubs nearby - Sandymount village is a 15 or 20 min walk along the beach promenade and a 15 min bus or train (Dart) ride to the city centre, with lots of busses and trains running to city centre. The city centre is only 3 stops away from Sydney Parade (Dart) Train station. The village - at its centre is a small public park which teems with families and people on a sunny day and surrounded by lots of restaurants - Buju Burger, Pete's American Diner, Dunne & Crezenzi Italian, Mario's Italian Pizzeria and Bistro, Indie Spice, Browne's Deli, Butlers Pantry & Coffee, Cafe Java, lots of nice bars, a Tesco supermarket, some clothing boutiques and shoe shops, an optician, a couple of pharmacies and a Mace for bus and train tickets, mobile top up etc. It's also only a 5 minute walk from the beach where you can access some beautiful nature trails alongside the beach, one of which is a 10 mile trek out to Poolbeg Lighthouse - an absolute must for nature lovers and walkers.
