Dan's place is close to nightlife, public transport, the city center, and parks. You’ll love his place because of the ambiance, the outdoors space, the light, the neighborhood, and the comfy bed. The suite is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
This penthouse suit is the perfect get away right in the heart of the old port. Rise above it all with stunning views of the ocean and a private deck! The state of the art kitchen is complete with a gas range to cook up a fantastic meal. Feel like going out? The suite is a walk to a number of fabulous restaurants, bars and shopping!
This home couldn't get any more central to all this great city has to offer!
  • Absolutely loved Daniel's place (managed by Alice)! It was the perfect location for walking everywhere in Portland that we needed to be. We parked our car and didn't use it again until we left 3 days later! Based on the pictures, we had high expectations of super cuteness for the interior and we were not disappointed in that regard. A lot of attention was given to the details of this lovely apartment and we really appreciated that we could stay in such a great place. It was super clean and had everything we needed (we ate out a lot, though, so no opinion on how well stocked the kitchen is for cooking). We'll likely try to stay here again on our next visit to Portland (and, thanks again, Daniel, for the help finding the right door for entry!). One tip for other guests: if you are not used to ambient city night light, bring an eye mask for sleeping.

  • Such a nice apartment and in a great location to all areas of portland! Me and my boyfriend spent our anniversary there and it was the perfect spot to go out and explore the city but also be able to go back to and relax!! Definitely recommend!!

    Jillian2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Location, location, location. Walked everywhere, never took the car out. The pictures don't due justice to how relaxing and homey this place feels. There are so many nice touches throughout the place. We loved Portland (our 2nd time here) but didn't want to leave this penthouse. The windows were amazing, so much light, such great panorama views. Everything inside is updated, working and a class above any hotel... from the custom tile shower, window seating, plants and lighting to the in ceiling stereo. It was great. We visited the bar across the street Friday eve and enjoyed some live music upstairs. Was a great way to wrap up the evening after dinner.

  • This place is absolutely perfect! Centrally located, beautifully decorated with stunning views and anything you could need - this place has it all. We can’t wait to come back next year!!

  • This was a fantastic stay. Great location and perfect for walking around and exploring Portland!

    Susan2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • The space was beautiful and the location could not have been better. You could walk anywhere in the Old Port in less than 12 minutes, with Wharf Street only being about a 5 minute walk away. The loft itself was sparkling clean and had so much character. Alice was a great host and we would absolutely stay here again on future trips to Portland!

    Kristen2019-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space and great location! A++

    Austine2018-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's place was just perfect for us. The space itself is artfully done and comfortable. The location is walkable to restraurants, shops and the waterfront. We loved it and will be back.

Beautiful, spacious, 1 bedroom heart of the city urban apartment featuring 12 foot ceilings, high end kitchen and bath, refinished hardwood floors in a location that is absolutely terrific. Amazing City Scape Views! Sleeps 3 : 1 Bedroom with queen bed and there is a Futon in small auxiliary room.
Although a lot of places are called "great locations" it's truly hard to beat this one. We are next door to two coffee shops two restaurants, around the corner (literally) from one of the best coffee spots in town. 50 feet from a bakery, a well known donut shop, a one minute walk to a movie theatre and less than a minute to the Public Market House. Even a men’s and woman’s hair Salon are less than a half minute walk! Portland's Old Port is two blocks away.
  • Chris is a top notch host with outstanding communication. Given our little key issue where we locked ourselves out he could have easily said call a locksmith however he worked hard to track his cleaner down to get us the spare key which we were very grateful for. Also the place was beautiful and could not have been in a better location. We had such an amazing time and are now counting the days down till we head back to Portland Maine. Thank you Sean and Angela

License#STHR0011152019 Spacious 1 bedroom w/living room, eat-in kitchen and bath in ideal Portland peninsula location, walk to all. situated on the edge of the west end and downtown. 2 blocks from the ocean. Walk everywhere in this central, historic, perfect location. Easy street parking. Simple furnishings, older retro flair. 2nd floor of 3 unit Victorian on dead end, quiet street. Queen bed and futon sleeps up to four. There is no parking but often spaces are available on this dead end street
Please read carefully: This is a well-loved apartment in an 1875 building full of sunlight, with Hardwood floors and tall ceilings, you'll be in a classic Portland "triple decker" Victorian building surrounded by the stunning architecture of portland's historic west end. You can walk anywhere in town within minutes. Basic kitchen and bathroom essentials provided. One queen memory foam bed and one fouton can sleep up to four. Large living space-this is an older apartment with older kitchen and bath-it is simple-not luxurious or modern-but it is clean and in the best location. Please appreciate the value of my space-that it is affordable, clean and large, with a retro flare and in a very desirable neighborhood, walking distance to everything on the peninsula. however, be advised, there is no tv and towels do not match and I have never been to ikea. This is the 2nd floor of a 3 unit and the second floor walk-up has steep steps, consider this if you have mobility issues. One Window a/c unit in bedroom, radiator heat (steam heat=white noise which apparently bothers some) I live below and tenants live on the third floor-you will hear occasional sounds throughout the building from residents and even though it is a quiet street you may still hear people on the street (it is an apartment in a city-after all). There is no parking for air bnb-even though there is a driveway-the spaces belong to tenants...guests parking in the driveway for a few minutes to unload luggage is fine..guests have usually been able to park easily right on my street at no cost. Street parking is free on most streets in the neighborhood-Just read the signs as there are usually 2 nights a month overnight parking is not allowed on certain streets for cleaning. Guests arriving late in the evening may have trouble finding street parking. There is also a $5 daily parking lot on commercial street next to Irving gas station about a 3 minute walk. This is a quiet building and no partying is allowed. The apartment is located on a dead end street off park street on the right called Stetson ct-it is a block away from the landmark historic Victorian mansion on park street and danforth. Additionally, early check-in or late check-out can most likely be accommodated with a $20 fee. That said anyone staying beyond the 11 am check out for whatever circumstances will receive a $20 payment request.. Thanks
Portland's west end is such an amazing neighborhood, wandering through these tree lined streets filled with incredible architecture is one of my favorite pastimes. Smile at everyone out for a stroll and enjoy the beauty and character surrounding you. Rosemont market, oh no cafe, and speckled axe coffee are all staples of the west end. Commercial street is two blocks away and uptown or downtown are both 10 minute walks.
  • This spot was perfect for exploring Portland! We were able to walk everywhere and it was a comfortable quiet place to go back to each night when we were done exploring. Sharon was a great host. Great value. We would definitely stay again.

    Julie2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon is so sweet, and the place was super clean. It was a really comfortable place with unique decor which I loved, was only there to sleep and shower. Good location too, great walkability. Thank you and i would definitely stay again!

    Naomi2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great overnight stay, no complaints. Would stay here again.

    Simon2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Sharon's place. The apartment was very spacious for a one bedroom and gave the four of us plenty of room to spread out. We walked everywhere- to a fun cafe, to the art museum, and even to the ferry to explore Peak's Island. Our 7-year-old and 3-year-old had a great time playing hide-and-seek, and we appreciated family friendly touches like a room darkening shade, ice in the freezer, and access to a washer and dryer. Sharon was welcoming and generous, and her replies to my questions were quick and clear. We highly recommend Sharon's place!

    Becky2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon was great and left us instructions and the key for us to let ourselves in upon arrival. There was a note on the table once we got inside, letting us know the wifi and password if needed and magazines with stuff to do in the area. She also gave us her cell number to contact her if we had any questions or concerns. It was nice that she made us feel very welcomed but gave us our own space and let us know how to contact her if needed. The place was roomier than we expected and very clean. There was no tv, which was a little surprising at first, but with all there was to do in the surrounding area, tv was not missed much! We walked everywhere and just left our car parked the 2 days we were there. The location of this was great in our opinion. It was at the end of a quiet dead end street but close to the harbor, downtown, and lots of great places to eat and drink. Only recommendation would be if you don't care for flat and harder pillows to maybe bring your own. And the ones on the futon weren't actually pillows but were pillow cases that had sheets in them. We got along fine though with what was there. She did great on providing the basic essentials for what we'd need for our stay and had towels ready for us, along with basic toiletries. There were also glasses and dishes in the kitchen along with coffee and tea on the counter. We definitely had a great time and would recommend her place to others wanting to stay in the Portland area.

    Nikki2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon's apartment worked out really well for my partner and our 8 month old. It is very spacious, and I found the minimal decor is calming. We could put our 8 month old to bed in the bedroom while we hung out in the rest of the space, which was a huge plus over a hotel room or studio. It is also walking distance to just about everything we wanted to see, and near some great coffee options - we loved Tandem and Speckled Ax. Things to be aware of: It was unusually humid during our stay, so the apartment did get pretty hot without AC, but with fans going wasn't so bad. There is a ton of lovely natural light, but this also means it gets bright very early in the morning. We were fine with it, but keep in mind if you are sensitive to this.

    Stephanie2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sharon's apartment is an ideal spot when staying in Portland. Located on a quiet street, with plenty of parking options if you drive into town, the apartment is spacious, has a great kitchen (if you want to cook), and is within easy walking distance to downtown Portland. If traveling with kids, the apartment includes a comfy futon just outside the main bedroom, so everyone gets a bit of privacy during their stay. Not a negative, but there is no TV, so have some other entertainment plans if coming home with the kids early and it's not quite bedtime. Overall the apartment was awesome, and we would definitely want to stay again. I would definitely recommend staying with Sharon if you come to Portland.

Spacious ( 1100 sq. ft. ), updated early Victorian apartment bordering the Arts District in Portland's historic and beautiful West End with great natural light, plenty of space, high-end linens (organic sheets, turkish towels), free on-street parking, a private garden entrance, and a sheltered screened porch. Walk to nearby restaurants, cafes, museums, parks and downtown Old Port, and return to a space that you'll be very happy to call 'home'! [ 2019 STHR Reg. #001051 ]
Designed by a boat builder in 1840, this 1 bed / 1 bath spacious (1100 sq. ft.) apartment is located within a 2-unit property in the historic West End, where you can slowly walk along leafy streets and enjoy the area's beautiful Victorian architecture and many wonderful restaurants/cafés. The apartment has its own private entrance through the garden gate. This privacy does not mean that you are on your own however if you should need anything; we live at the property and are happy to help.
The apartment is in an excellent location allowing easy access to a wide variety of Portland's charms. We are located on the Eastern edge of the West End. A quick summary of the possibilities: West - explore West End's beautiful, Victorian neighborhoods. The West End is famous for its architecture and boasts some of Portland’s largest historic homes including the historic Victoria Mansion museum. We provide our guests with a walking tour book. North - within a 5-10 minute walk, enjoy the many excellent restaurants and arts venues along Congress Street and nearby. We provide a local map with our humble recommendations. South - within a 5 minute walk, grab a delicious coffee at Good Medicine and relax at Harbor View Memorial Park looking out over Portland's working waterfront. East - within 5 minutes take in the historic Victoria Mansion museum and within a pleasant 10-15 minute walk explore the Arts District and Old Ports' 'downtown' restaurants, working waterfront, and shopping. Finally, if you'd prefer just to relax, and not walk more than a few steps, we'd recommend a quick walk to Ohno's for a breakfast sandwich, make some coffee in the apartment's kitchen, and hang out in the lightly breezy porch. That's what I'd do! A small sample of the many nearby attractions within short walking distance: Restaurants - Ohno Café, Bonobo, Outliers, Bao Bao Dumpling House, Local 188, Pai Men Miyake Markets - Rosemont Market, Aurora Provisions Coffee Shops - Speckled Ax, Tandem Coffee Arts - Portland Museum of Art, Victoria Mansion Parks / Playgrounds - Tyng / Tate Playground, Harborview Memorial Park
  • Michael was a gracious host, welcoming me with a kitchen stocked with coffee, chocolate, fruit and soymilk! The apartment was very comfortable and spacious - lots of closet space, comfortable bed, great water pressure in bathroom and lots of comfortable seating. The location was great - a nice walk to downtown and plenty of restaurants nearby. All in all, a really nice experience!

  • Absolutely stunning space, lots of light, beautiful furniture, and linens. Great location too! Mike was really accommodating and responded quickly when I asked questions. Highly recommend staying here over a hotel.

    Melia2019-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's spacious and impeccably clean apartment was a perfect home base for our 3-night stay in Portland. The weather at the time was particularly warm during our trip, so we spent more time in the bedroom (with the A/C!) and lounging on the breezy patio, which is conveniently shaded by the trees. Our welcome gift--chocolate-covered blueberries from a local chocolatier--was the perfect treat. Michael is very responsive and kind over email; so sorry we didn't get to meet in person!

  • Beautiful and clean home, thoughtful touches, perfect location. Overall a stellar experience!

    Devan2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is lovely, spotless, and fully as represented. The neighborhood is quiet yet easy walking distance to Portland downtown restaurants and attractions. Michael is easy to communicate with and was flexible when arranging a time to meet and check in. I especially appreciated him holding open a third night for me in case I needed to stay over due to a family member recovering in a local hospital. Highly recommended!

  • Mike was a wonderful host and his place was beautiful. It was in a perfect location to explore Portland on foot and a great central location for day trips out of the city. We would definitely return!

    Nadine2015-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights in this very comfortable, clean, calm and quiet apartment. Staying here was such a lovely respite after spending the day walking around Portland. It was easy to park, and easy to walk anywhere in town from the apartment. Check-in and check-out were seamless. Thank you, Michael!

  • I really like this place. Very stylish, fun to be in. Had a good time talking with some other guests. There are some great board games! Played a game of Pandemic. And, anywhere that includes any kind of free food is great. Not a full meal or anything, but a couple snacks and things to use in cooking. Happy with my stay here.

Experience living in this brick rowhouse with all the amenities! Walking distance to the finest restaurants, museums, theaters, etc. Apartment has been remodeled while keeping all the fine details intact. Very quiet, safe and clean. City of Portland, ME Short Term Registration 0941
Living in Portland's downtown peninsula on the most historic street will make you want to stay!
Neighborhood boasts the best restaurants and is a 3 minute walk to the Museum of Art, a must-see if this is your first time in Portland! Very quiet and safe.
  • We had a wonderful time staying here. The apartment was very clean and spacious and the location was excellent. Kevin was a gracious host and even contacted me the day before to tell me that we could check in early if needed. I highly recommend staying here and hope to stay here again on our next visit to Portland.

    Samantha2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I enjoyed the apartment very much. When we first arrived, we had trouble figuring out parking, but that was our fault and we did figure it out on our own fairly quickly. We had to contact Kevin regarding the shower and got a helpful explanation. The location was perfect for us, and I loved the neighborhood. The building is a nicely remodeled historic building.

    Jane2015-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • This quaint, historical home is at an ideal location: walking distance to the downtown shopping and dining, but removed enough to be in a quiet neighborhood. All the amenities were adequate for a delightful stay. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the rooms were very spacious and charming. I would highly recommend this place for a short or extended stay!

    Matthew2016-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • The location couldn't be more ideal. Really felt like we were part of the neighborhood and the apartment details were charming and inviting. Kevin was nice but quite busy with other errands at the time of our arrival, so if you've never been to Portland you may want to do some reading before arriving instead of relying on host recommendations. Double check the keys to the front door before heading out and about to make sure they work (we had a snafoo but Kevin fixed promptly). Otherwise, this was a pleasant, clean apartment and we'd gladly stay again.

STR REG# 2018-3261. This apartment is close to all the action of downtown (7 minute walk), the Old Port (15 minute walk). Deering Oaks Park is one block away. Please note it SHARES A BATHROOM with the adjacent studio. It is very close to all the wonderful restaurants, breweries and bars of Portland. The building does sit next to a light industrial urban area, there is a less 'salubrious' area 2 blocks east, which is easily avoided, and this is Portland, you will see 'street characters'..
This is a one bedroom apartment with its own private access door but with a SHARED BATHROOM. You have a private living area which consists of a bedroom, large living room with TV, WiFi, Netflix and Hulu streaming and a dining area/kitchenette. This apartment does not have a full kitchen, but has a small fridge/freezer, microwave, hot plate, pots and pans etc. It is a ground floor level apartment and for this reason I have frosted the windows for privacy. The bedroom has air conditioning and we suggest putting this on at night (even if it is on fan only) as this will mitigate any outside noises from traffic and voices. The street is generally quiet at night. The bathroom is accessed through a hallway, so you have your own lockable door, a hallway and the opposing apartments lockable door to separate the private areas. This is an old building and nothing is really level/square. Noises can travel and for that reason we request that guests please enter and exit quietly and please be aware of those below you.
This neighborhood (West Bayside) is undergoing strong gentrification. There are several great restaurants less than a minutes walk from the front door (Isa, American Bayside Cafe, Back Bay Grill and Food Fork Lab, 2 buildings down). However, the building borders a light industrial neighborhood and sits behind the main post office. It is an urban environment, not a tree lined residential street. The area 2 blocks east is best to avoid, you are safe but it doesn't look pretty. It is easily avoided by accessing downtown Portland via Forest Avenue. Deering Oaks Park is a beautiful park that is only one block west, and has a great Farmers Market at the weekend. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods a quick 2 minute car ride or 6 minute walk away. The building is minutes away from everything, but this being Portland, you will see 'street characters' in our neighborhood.
  • Great place!

    Corinne2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • The place is really great, Christine is very responsive and helpful. I'd definitely recommend!!

    Aditi2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's unit was a value tradeoff that fulfilled our needs for the weekend. Location is definitely the downside for the unit, trading off surrounding niceness for proximity to Congress St. We didn't feel unsafe at any point, it was just the least nice part of Portland we saw that weekend. The shared bathroom was the only other downside that was only an issue once. The privacy was not a concern, but we had to wait a while to use the bathroom when people were showering in the morning. Overall it was a good value for what was available when we booked, but we would likely stay in a different neighborhood next time.

    Collin2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's place was very clean, cozy, and close to all the best spots... only a 5 to 20 minute walk. She was also extremely accommodating and understanding. She'd always respond quickly to messages. I'd definitely book Christine's place again during my next visit!

  • The place is really nice and affordable, location is really good. Overall it was a great stay!

  • We stayed at Christine's place on a busy fall weekend in Portland where very few affordable options were available in hotels or Airbnb's. Christine's place is a great location within easy walking distance of downtown Portland and the Old Port. As the listing makes clear, it's on the edge of a more industrial area, and the apartment itself is pretty spare, with a shared bathroom and a sparse kitchenette. But it was perfectly clean, street parking nearby was easy, and it was a nice jumping-off point for a weekend in Portland.

    Clay2018-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great overall, exactly as it looks in the photo, check in was simple. Bathroom situation really wasn't as bad as others may have said. Also, maybe it's just me, but didn't think the neighboring neighborhood was "unsavory" maybe I'm just used to bigger cities with sketchier people?!

One bedroom apartment with kitchen/Living room combo close to downtown.
First floor back apartment in convenient bayside neighborhood
We are located in a transitional neighborhood, there is a homeless shelter and soup kitchen near by! Our bayside police are on foot, bicycle and vehicles keeping their eyes on things!
  • Small place but perfect for just a few days in Portland. Walkable to everything downtown. Enjoyed it very much! Great value.

  • A wonderful cozy apartment within walking to a lot of great restaurants and coffee shops! Check in was super easy and everything was very clean and neat. Would definitely stay here again when back in Portland!

  • Missy is a friendly and gracious host. Easy to communicate with and answered all our questions in a timely manner. Her studio is spacious and lots of light. The best part is the location. Easy walking distance to the sights and sounds of the old port area. complete kitchen, with coffee maker and full sized fridge. Nice deck, lots of natural lights, and windows look out to the backyard. Recommended!

  • Great location! Apartment is the perfect size for people visiting in town and expecting to take in what the city has to offer. Parking was easy and all the hot spots are within a short walk or drive! The apartment itself is clean, bed is comfy and was definitely nice and cool during this summer heat! Would highly recommend and repeat book!

  • Nice cheap place to stay and a short walk to great restaurants and bars and about 15 minutes to Old Port. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to travel on a budget!

    Michael2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The apt is only a 15min-20min walk from old port and has quite a few good restaurants very close by as well. I do recommend traveling with a companion in this area as there is a prominent homeless population which can feel daunting if you are alone. Overall for the cost and closeness to downtown it's a great deal!

A simple, clean unit hidden in the heart of Bayside, Portlands most up and coming neighborhood!. IN FULL DISCLOSURE the property is very close to the homeless shelter thus a lot of people wander the street at times during the day but it is safe and generally quiet at night! It is completely safe though and just 2 blocks from Congress Street/Arts District and a 10 minute walk to the Old Port. Within a block are many great restaurants
The neighborhood is safe but very transitional with a lot of people wandering the street at times during the day.
  • Very nice space a stone’s throw away from downtown and Congress St!

  • Great space, good location, good value. Parking a little tricky but spot found in a Friday within 5-10 mins.

  • John's place was the perfect home base for my short weekend visit to Portland. His apartment was exactly as described and suited my needs perfectly fine during my visit. John was very accommodating with an earlier check-in time and quick to respond to my questions. While there was no stove/oven (part of the reason I was visiting was to eat my way through the city anyway), John left a Keurig with coffee mugs, a binder of recommendations of things to do and travel-sized toiletries. His place was about a ten minute walk from downtown-ish and Exchange St, which was so great. We left our car parked the entire weekend on the street adjacent to John's (Hanover or Parris) with no issues - and it was free. Great stay - thanks so much John! Would definitely recommend, and would come back for sure.

    Ali2018-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • The place was clean and as described. The area is up and coming just as stated. The wife and I had absolutely no issues whatsoever but the amount of homeless people outside asking for money from time to time was a little unsettling.

    Edward2018-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood is up and coming but we felt safe. We we’re able to walk to downtown and the old bay areas easily. For the price location was absolutely awesome. The space itself was nice. Bed comfy, tv modern, clean bathroom.

    Rebecca2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy and conveniently located to Portland’s hot spots. A quick drive or Uber will get you where you need to go. You can even walk to a few spots as well! The studio was clean and had some thoughtful touches (soda water, tooth brushes).

    Jessica2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • John was a friendly and accommodating host. There was always free parking out front, and the location is great walking distance to downtown! So you can easily avoid the hassle of searching & paying for parking by walking.

    Bailey2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Simple room with ample space. Stop by his oyster bar (flyers in the room). And his recommendation for other neighborhood food choices are spot on! Karmasouptra is especially tasty.

  • We had a great stay in Portland at Tom's. It was centrally located and walkable to everywhere downtown, and the space also felt very private which was nice. It had everything we needed and the parking space made it even easier!

  • The place was VERY clean and stylish. The location was perfect. We were able to walk to almost everything, if it wasn’t so cold out we definitely would have been able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Tom was very quick with responding to any questions and the free parking across the street was a plus. Great stay!

Sunny ground floor apartment in a beautiful brick Victorian era Italianate home. 1000 sq. ft with hardwood floors, king bed, full bath, private entrance, access to patio and yard. Walking distance to everything; just two blocks from Congress Square.
This is a spacious one-bedroom apartment with a classic Portland layout: living room in front, french doors to the dining room, bedroom to the side, kitchen in the back. The bay window gets copious morning sun and makes the maple floors gleam. The bathroom has just been expanded and remodeled in 2017 with a small tub and new fixtures. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and a rollaway twin bed or pack-n-play crib is available. The entire place has replacement windows and was certified lead-safe by the city of Portland. Please note that like many homes in Maine, there is no air-conditioning, as Portland averages only 4 days per year over 90 degrees, in which case we have fans and beaches.
Mechanic Street is a little one-way street right in the heart of downtown, in the most diverse neighborhood in the state. Online maps measure walking distance in FEET to Portland's most celebrated restaurants, nightspots and parks, and less than three blocks to Portland Stage Company, Portland Museum of Art and Congress Square, the center of Portland's art district. Also be advised that a resource center for the homeless is down the street and an ancient local dive bar on the corner can sometimes attract an "urban tableau" of our less-fortunate neighbors, however they are mostly harmless and the community policing center is nearby and responsive.
  • What a great spot. It's no wonder this place books up so quickly. The place is clean, comfortable and spacious. The bed is SUPER comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. The small backyard is charming. The location is ideal for anyone who plans to do a lot of walking. 5 minutes to the heart of downtown. 15 minutes to the old port. 5 minutes (if that) to Deering Park and the farmers market (and Holy Donuts). Incidentally, it's also across the street from Sulky's, one of the weirdest, happiest bars/clubs I've visited in a LONG time. (Though once back in the house, it was very quiet). The clawfoot tub in the bathroom is a little claustrophobic and difficult to manage, but that is really my only gripe. I'd consider myself lucky to be able to book this again in the future.

    Jeff2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very charming place within walking distance of the major Portland attractions, including great bars and restaurants. The area is a little dicey, but not unsafe. I would say here again. It was also nice to s able to do laundry.

    Sanford2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place in a great location. Check in couldn't be easier. Highly recommended!

    Sofi & Dan2016-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Clint and Kate were very communicative. The house was easy to find, there was convenient parking in the driveway, and we were given clear instructions on how to enter the apartment. The apartment is cozy and decorated with excellent artwork. There was a cool guest book and binder of local things to do on the coffee table. The bed was very comfortable and warm (and there were little chocolates on the pillows)! There were towels as well as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that made us feel even more at home. It is conveniently located blocks from Congress Street which is where we were headed for First Friday Arts Walk. We walked back on Friday night around midnight and the neighborhood felt safe to us. They even helped us with parking the next day after we checked out. We will definitely see if this place is available the next time we visit Portland! And I will absolutely recommend to any friends headed up to Portland. Many thanks to Kate and Clint for sharing this lovely space! *OH! And be sure to have a glass of water from the tap, because Portland water is delicious!

    Jeanette2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was large, clean, and quite comfortable. We enjoyed walking to all the major attractions and restaurants downtown. Kate and Clint were very responsive throughout the reservation process and greeted us when we arrived in Portland. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Kate and Clint's place provided a great accommodation for a weekend wedding in Portland during the peak summer season. Convenient location, and great to have off street parking.

  • Very clean, comfortable bed, excellent location, highly recommended.

    Andrew2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! Kate and Clint did a wonderful job of communicating pre-arrival. While they weren't there to greet us, the apartment was beautiful, immaculate, and there was chocolate waiting :) Particularly appreciated the book of local suggestions. Fantastic location, within walking distance of downtown and even better, around the corner from Bayside American Cafe. Thank you!

A quiet, beautifully lit, sanctuary in the middle of Portland's peninsula. The Art Studio is on the ground floor of a 100 year old church. It's previous use was as a painter's studio and there is still some paint on the radiant heat, polished, concrete floor. The room is full of art by Maine artists. Your host is an artist and makes the rest of the building his home and work space. For the use of guests there is a sunny, fenced yard accessible from the rental.
Park your car because you won't need it. In minutes you can to walk to the many restaurants and bars as well as brewery and distillery tasting rooms. Less than 20 minute walk to the Portland Museum of Art, Portland Stage Company, and the State Theater through the center of the downtown. And you'll be only one block from Portland's historic performing arts facility Merrill Auditorium. My listing is dog friendly, but you must inform me if your dog(s) are accompanying you. More than one dog will require an additional $15 per night.
  • Great space, walking distance to literally anything you could possibly want to do and an AMAZING coffee spot 50 feet away. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Sarah2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Something a little different and very, very comfortable as well. The studio is spacious, light and spotless. The seating is comfortable for relaxing as well as for meals. Jay has paid attention to details for his guests comfort. Jay is an attentive, but not intrusive, host. He shares his love of his place, garden and neighborhood. This is what makes AirBnB so much fun.

    Susan2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jay's place was fantastic -- great space, clean, functional, fantastic location within walking distance of restaurants and the eastern promenade. Jay was a great host, friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend staying there.

  • Great, private space. Close to a coffee shop and downtown. Perfect for a weekend in Portland.

    Libby2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfection. Beautifully furnished & decorated with great art. Comfy bed. Sweet mini kitchen setup (no stovetop, but we brought Thanksgiving leftovers and reheated them in the microwave). And just a short walk to downtown Portland, with a great coffee shop (Coffee Me Up) just around the corner. Jay greeted us on arrival and then left us to our Portland adventures. Though we only met him briefly, his hospitality came through in the cleanliness, thoughtful provisioning, and overall loveliness of the space. Thank you, Jay!

We are in the heart of downtown Portland. 5 to 10 minute walk, to all Portland has to offer; restaurants, breweries, galleries, parks, shops, famers markets. The State Theater, Portland Museum of Art-Portland's arts district, the Old Port, Congress Square are near. We are located in a vibrant transitional neighborhood, home to Trader Joes, ISA, Back Bay Grill, Bayside Bowl and Bayside Café. There is a homeless outreach center located 3 blocks away that serves the homeless.
First floor studio space in our 1848 Greek Revival home, with separate entrance. It is not a large space, but there is a feeling of spaciousness, largely due to 9 foot ceilings. There is a small coffee maker, and a small refrigerator with local beer, water, coffee and cream. Outdoor garden space is shared- primarily with Elmo and Wally (our French bulldogs), and Mack, (our cat). Renovations were completed in August 2017; new floor, walls, lighting/electric, and a new bathroom. A few things to know about your garden mates; Elmo has a great deal of enthusiasm, and we are working on his greeting behavior as he tends to jump for joy when humans step into the back yard area (he will jump on you -we are working on this) - Wally overall is more low key, but still very excited to greet people- Mack, the cat lounges on the chairs outside the studio and in various places in the garden, he is very friendly and enjoys greeting guests at the backyard gate.

  • Great little getaway for a birthday weekend. It was nice to have dedicated, off street parking but we left our car there the whole time since we were able to walk everywhere. Everything was adorable and cozy: the decor, the bathroom, the pups, the little local treats, even the efficient little space heater. I really appreciated that the hosts were there to greet us and show us around instead of just leaving a key somewhere like lots of airbnb hosts do now. Note that you can hear muffled voices and footsteps from the rest of the house but it was not loud enough to wake me up.

    Robin2017-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • when you walk in you’ll instantly fall in love with how the room is decorated. small but cozy and a bunch of amenities. the hosts were amazing and the dogs and cat were an awesome extra touch! so friendly and love attention. the place is in walking distance to everything in downtown portland or it’s just an uber ride away. thanks again for being amazing!

  • This was the perfect spot for our stay in Portland. The location is excellent and we were able to walk just about everywhere. The beer and wine in the fridge was a nice touch, too! We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends! Thank you, Carolyn!!

    Jill2018-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Carolyn and Tom's place was absolutely perfect for a weekend birthday getaway. Despite the cold we walked to breweries, restaurants and shops and were excited to come back to a cozy spot at the end of the day! The bed was heavenly- amazing linens & super, super comfortable, much above what I usually expect in an AirBnB! There were little snacks and drinks in the fridge and coffee. We loved reading the guestbook for ideas of fun activities on our trip. The communication was also terrific and fast. East check-in & out too, which is always appreciated. Thanks for a great stay!

    Amy2018-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Carolyn's place was great. It is small, but is accurately described. Walking distance to most places, and would be even more walkable during warm weather. There we tons of ubers, never had to wait more than 4 minutes. Carolyn was a great host and Wally, Elmo, and Mac were great greeters. I would highly recommend Carolyn's place and Portland to anybody, especially if you love beer and food.

    David2017-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a nice stay at Carolyn's. The space is very cosy, clean, and she goes the extra mile with some fun treats (beer, wine, snacks). I wholeheartedly recommend staying here, and we would definitely stay again!

    Jamie2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Carolyn and Tom’s place is the ultimate find when coming to Portland! Their space is spectacular with an ideal location to launch your exploration of the city. I would recommend this place to anyone and I hope to stay here again next time I’m in Portland.

  • We found Carolyn & Tom's place to be the PERFECT little spot for our two day escape to Portland. The space is very new, clean, and organized. Our hosts even left thoughtful snacks and drinks to make it even easier and more comfortable for us. Their two little French bulldogs & cat were extremely friendly. On top of all of this, it's very well located near the waterfront, breweries, and eateries. We'll be back for sure.

Cozy studio apartment in historic building, located in downtown Portland. Features warm hardwood floors, large windows, and laundry in building. Portland Food Co-Op is directly next door, as is the Rite Aid. Just two blocks from Eventide, Honey Paw, Duck Fat, Hugos, Coffee By Design, and Old Port shopping district.
The Studio has very high ceilings, and big windows, a fully equipped kitchen, coffee maker, fridge, oven, stove, etc. Enjoy your morning coffee at the bistro table in the living space, or on the shared porch.
The Studio is in a perfect location. Right at the bottom of the Munjoy Hill in the India Street Neighborhood. It is just steps away from some of the best restaurants in Portland. About a 5 minute walk to the Old Port and the waterfront. 10 minute walk to downtown/ arts district. There is a wonderful market across the street, a laundromat, and pharmacy.
  • We had a great stay. Close to everything, we walked everywhere. The studio is perfect, from the decor to the size. Would definitely recommend staying here and we hope to come again.

  • I loved the location of this air bnb! The check in directions were spot on and greatly appreciated. The inside was extremely clean and perfect for what we were looking for. The bed was so comfortable I didn’t want to get up in the morning! It was a blessing to have the Walgreens next door for all of the things I forgot at home. I loved my stay and I hope to be back soon.

  • All good. The sofa looks bigger in photos, but the place was clean and located centrally in Portland. My gripes are about the binary interaction fostered by Airbnb. The hosts lived up to there word, no more, no less. Completely binary.

STR REG# 2018-3261. This apartment is close to all the action of downtown (7 minute walk), the Old Port (15 minute walk). Deering Oaks Park is one block away. Please note it SHARES A BATHROOM with the adjacent unit. It is very close to all the wonderful restaurants, breweries and bars of Portland. The building does sit next to a light industrial urban area, there is a less 'salubrious' area 2 blocks east, which is easily avoided, and this is Portland, you will see 'street characters'..
This is a studio apartment with its own private access door but with a SHARED BATHROOM. You have a large bedroom area with TV, WiFi, Netflix and Hulu streaming and a dining area set up in the bay window. It is a ground floor level apartment and for this reason I have frosted the windows for privacy. The bedroom area has air conditioning and we suggest putting this on at night (even if it is on fan only) as this will mitigate any outside noises from traffic and voices.
There are several great restaurants less than a minutes walk from the front door (Isa, American Bayside Cafe, Back Bay Grill) and Food Fork Lab, 2 buildings down. There are also several breweries close by, such as Rising Tide.
  • Fine space to spend a few nights, but be aware that you are sharing a bathroom among multiple apartments in the house

    William2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts and the apartment were great. It was very clean and comfortable and the apartment is an easy walk to a lot of great dining. The location is quiet and not on a residential street but we felt safe walking around the neighborhood. Overall, we had a great time in Portland and enjoyed staying at the apartment.

    Katharine2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and within walking distance of everything worth checking out.

  • Great place and super clean. Christine was extremely responsive and helpful. She was a pleasure to communicate with!

    Daniella2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cute room with a nice TV and trendy details. Nice to have a table and chairs. Kitchen was spacious, with coffee for the morning. Great location. Sharing the bathroom meant a lack of hot water after a few showers, but just needed a little flexibility. Really close to downtown and food, very clean. Be aware of construction nearby, it was loud some mornings.

    Michal2018-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place was exactly as advertised. It's a small, clean apartment that is somewhat close to downtown Portland. Given the area does have quite a few "street characters", who seemed harmless enough, you may or may not feel like walking to downtown. However driving back and forth was only a few minutes and was never a problem parking or getting an uber.

    Steve2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's place is fantastic in every category. Check in is extremely easy, the apartment is spotless, everything is new, the location is perfect for walking to town, and Christine provides all of the basic amenities you might need (e.g. iron, shampoo, towels, coffee, shower caddy!). Moreover, the value is untouchable - you will not a find a better deal for an in-town Portland stay. Thanks, Christine!

    Heather2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was great! Very clean and spacious and close to the downtown area :) We walked to a nice coffee shop near by in the morning and it was easy to find parking right by the home. Thanks so much Christine!!

The space We have a lovely garden & deck "upon request" for relaxation. The double bed room is on the 2nd floor. It is a shared house with 2 kind, & soft spoken men who are seldom here. We are clean & quiet.
The old metal yards & dot lots in our neighborhood are being removed & are undergoing revitalization, featuring art studios & a state of the art Bay Side Bowl bowling ally with live music and great food. A new western and Barbacue venue just opened too. Just around the corner is Architectural Salvage with antiques & trifles. The local gym is next door along with whole foods & apothecary by design. Up the street there is the Bard Coffee House & a totally entertaining Bubba's Sulky Lounge w an original 70's lite disco dance floor, & antiquities.
  • Great place and a the best value in the area. The host was very accommodating because of my arrival was late/ early in the morning (1:30am). Others in the area will cancel you’re reservation if you arrive late at night so I really appreciate Nancy and Beth for taking care of me.

    Michael S2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beth is an amazing host. She was helpful in being there on arrival, giving feedback on the area for walking and we shared a great breakfast. Then, because why not, we spent a day together antique-ing and vintage-ing. Even had some tasty lobster. Just a great time. The room was very clean with a separate bath that was shared, also very clean and tidy. The location was great, I walked everywhere and felt safe, mostly. As mentioned in the listing, there is a soup kitchen nearby but Beth let me know which way to walk to avoid it and I had no problems. I would definitely stay again. Enjoy this space, Beth, and Portland!

    Monica2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly host with a super friendly cat and several great recommendations around town that my friend and I took advantage of; she even printed off street maps of Portland before we set out to explore on our first day so that we could get our bearings. We did not see her again for our stay but instead, kept running into her two male roommates, who we hadn't been introduced to, nor had we known about when we booked the room. Although they were nice enough, the encounters were awkward. To add to the uneasiness of our stay, the front door was often wide open, which is only steps from a busy street that many drunk and homeless people roam. While we found this strange (and a little alarming), we did not feel good about the fact that there was no way to lock our room from the outside (but thankfully could lock it on the inside while we slept) so anybody could've walked right into the house, up to our room and taken all of our things while we were out. The host had given us a key, but we never needed to use it because the front door was never once locked while we were there. The room is pleasant enough, though the bed is small for two people. We loved having a small fridge and microwave for when we brought leftovers back to our room. However, neither of us slept more than a few hours for our entire stay because the room's window opens out directly over the street and all of the noise came in and woke us up at all hours of the night and morning. We were often woken up by drunk laughter and yelling in the street, a man screaming profanities, incredibly loud trucks and even had the lovely alarm clock of loud construction on a Monday morning at 6am. We considered closing the window and even attempted it, but the room quickly became too stuffy to be comfortable. We did not feel comfortable walking around the neighborhood at night but we were grateful to have each other for a sense of security. That being said, we certainly wouldn't recommend this accommodation to a solo female visitor.

    Alexandra2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely host, lovely space. Feels very homey. Close walking distance to stores and historic district.

    Rachel2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great, cozy room in downtown Portland. It was a SUPER hot weekend in the city but the A/C was a delightful respite when we turned in for a break from walking around. Easy walk to nearly every angle of downtown and a relaxed, friendly vibe to turn to at the end of a day of adventure. Will return!

    Sally2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beth’s place was great! Beth greeted us on time and was fast in responding to all questions. The house it located just minutes to all major Portland Downtown and Old Harbor sites. The room was immaculate and very cozy. The bed was comfortable and the room had a small refrigerator, microwave, AC, utensils, plates, etc. It’s really setup with everything you’d need. Plus, Beth gave us a parking spot which was awesome. The bathroom was clean and equipped with everything you need except for a hairdryer. There are some homeless people on the area but they didn’t bother us and Beth really handled it when they were closer to the house. Overall, if you’re looking for a great and affordable spot in Portland I’d recommend this spot. I know that next time I’m in Portland, I’ll stay here again.

    Valerie2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Expect kind hosts and a central location for easily getting around the city. This is not a touristy-type vacation getaway, and is currently very near social services locations, though I always felt safe. You are essentially rooming in a cute house further away from the main tourist areas, but if you are looking for kind people, a good rate, and a central location, this is a great place to book.

    Ben2019-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • This room is convenient and walkable to Old Port! Parking is easy to find on the street and the guest room even has a mini-fridge if you have drinks/groceries.

Enjoy the quieter end of Oak Street in the heart of Portland's Arts District. This studio is great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. Walk to just about everything Portland has to offer including museums, restaurants, shopping and the Old Port. Drive to many beaches in 15-20 minutes. 2019 City of Portland registration STHR 000854
For your comfort we provide linens, extra pillows, organic cotton towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Blackout shades and a white noise machine will ensure a peaceful sleep in the city. A fully-appointed kitchen with plenty of bar ware, cookware, coffee, tea, sugar and creamer will make you feel at home and able to eat in if you choose. Two large closets are provided for your items. Parking for one car is included in the adjacent parking lot.
The Arts District is the best place to stay in all of Portland! Walk anywhere on the peninsula or just step out your door and find yourself in the middle of the finest galleries, live music and dining Portland has to offer. Just a few blocks from the waterfront, this section of Congress Street is lined with art galleries, antique shops, and artist studios as well as the Portland Museum of Art, the Institute of Contemporary Art at MECA, the Center for Cultural Exchange, the State Theater, the Portland Stage Company, the Center for Maine History and more. Several music venues offer live music in the Arts District : Blue, 650 Congress Street: A jazz club with every Saturday dedicated to the genre and live music nearly every night of the week ranging from open mic to Irish session. Tapas and a good wine selection. Empire, 575 Congress Street: Eat at Empire Chinese Kitchen before heading upstairs to see a show. Local and national acts pass through this small club, and it's home to the long-running Clash of the Titans series. Geno's Rock Club, 625 Congress Street: This rock/metal club has character. The theater-style set up makes every spot in the house a good one, and the whiskey is good. One Longfellow Square, 181 State Street, Suite 201: Hosting acts from all genres, this is a great place to hear old favorites and learn new artists. The bar offers local draft beers and cocktails made with local spirits. Port City Music Hall, 504 Congress Street: This mid-size venue attracts fantastic artists from across the country and supports the local scene, too. The beer selection offers many locally brewed options like Bunker, Oxbow, and Allagash. Space Gallery: 538 Congress Street: This Congress Street arts center hosts documentaries, community events, and music acts. Whatever the format, it's sure to be something that makes you think. Enjoy locally-made Urban Farm Fermentory cider or draft beer from Bunker Brewing Company. State Theater, 609 Congress Street: The State Theater could easily force its captive audience to buy overpriced drinks, but this mid-sized venue keeps its beer selection local, so you can enjoy your favorite Maine brew while you listen to the national acts that visit this historic theater. Portland has nearly 400 restaurants. A few worth trying right in the neighborhood include Emiltsa, 555, Taco Escobarr, Sur Lie, David's, Empire, and Boda.
  • Highly recommend! Tom was great & very accommodating!

  • Great Space-Super Location. Really enjoyed my stay here. It was clean and felt very safe. The place has everything you could need as a guest, the best part were the blackout blinds for those beautiful giant windows. Outside the apartment just steps away are so many awesome dining options. Would stay again if I found myself in the area again.

  • Our stay at Tom's place was ideal. The loft was clean and exactly like the photos. It is in the perfect location to walk to Warf Street, tons of restaurants, and music venues. The bed is extremely comfortable and the light that comes in, is amazing! Tom left a small packet of things to do, and we took some of his suggestions. The perfect place to spend our NYE!!

  • This place is great and in a great location. Check in was really well explained and the apartment was very clean. • We only stayed for one night but found the location central to everything we wanted to do. The space is great for one or two people and the windows along the length of the studio allow for plenty of natural light. Tom was very detailed in his instructions so check-in was a breeze. We would definitely stay again!

As it relates to the actual living space, the lovely couple who hosts you has created a cosy and lovely New England feel with plenty of space, comfort, and a big shared patio space. Parking is included and free. We had a FANTASTIC experience and will definitely come back!!!

The condo is a on a quiet and safe residential street, and the bustling commerce of Congress Street is just a block away. The action on Congress Street is all considered part of the Arts District, so it's very artsy! The very popular ArtWalk First Friday is on the first Friday of every month, and it's right around the corner from the condo. This part of town is where the locals hang out; the Old Port is, on the other hand, very touristy. Our local park, Congress Square, is a 1-minute walk and offers outdoor entertainment several evenings a week, including dancing and live music - all for free! Bars, restaurants, shops, and live music venues line Congress Street, so you don't need to go far from the condo for coffee, live music, or a meal. Not only is our street - Deering Street - one of the most beautiful streets in all of Portland - tree-lined, with brick sidewalks and very little traffic - it is also a cohesive collection of high quality architect-designed buildings from the second half of the 19th century that were originally predominantly residential in nature. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
  • I think the place was great with an incredible location next to the city center. Chris was incredibly friendly and accommodating and made our stay memorable!

    Chris2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a cute condo! The owners have done great things to make a smaller space functional while still feeling welcoming and cozy. They provided great recommendations in their folder (on the coffee table) and it's clear that they love being hosts to people coming to enjoy Portland. We felt safe and at home. We wound up driving a bit more than we thought we would down to the harbor, which was totally fine getting in and out of the garage and finding spots near all of our destinations. The sound of seagulls in the morning was pretty cool. Nothing like waking up near a harbor! Enjoy Portland!

    Tracy2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect spot to stay in Portland. Clean, trendy, 15 minute walk to downtown and even closer walk to many other bars, restaurants, etc. Very quick and easy communication with the host!

Walking distance to all that Portland has to offer. Clean and easy to access apartment on the 3rd floor of a great building. Located in the trendy Bayside neighborhood.. sort of like Brooklyn 20 years ago thus transitional, but super safe and super close to all downtown/Old Port amenities!
2 bedrooms both with queen size beds, full kitchen , bathroom, and small living room!!
The Bayside neighborhood in full disclosure is transitional, but it is as close to the Old Port/downtown as anywhere and we have never had any safety issues at all - Trader Joe's, Back Bay Grill, Bintliffs, Bayside Bowl and a fantastic Flea Market (Flea-for-all) all within 2 to 3 blocks also!
  • Solid place to crash and within walking distance of all you want (Old Port, Oxbow Brewing, brunch spots like Bayside American Cafe). Definitely must go to the Maine Oyster Company for the complimentary treats!

Well lit, large room with an extra futon (second bed) in a cozy old-fashioned Maine duplex with your own private entry. The queen size bed, plush with 800 (or more) thread count sheets, a down comforter and cozy pillows will prove to be comfortable. The room has a private bath with a tile shower, refrigerator, microwave and coffee/tea. We provide towels, hi-speed wifi and small speakers for music. We are an easy walk to everything, and we offer our driveway for parking.
(Please read my entire listing as it will answer most, if not, all questions you may have. It will also help you decide if what I have to offer will meet your expectations and needs so you can have an amazing stay here in Portland) Hi, I'm Christine. I'm here to help you have an enjoyable stay at my home. But, also, I have made my Airbnb as self-sufficient as possible in case I'm off doing unpredictable life & mom things. I don't want my busy schedule to hinder any of your plans. As much as I would love to meet all of my guests, I may not be able to. (Do know, I will always be reachable by phone or text and would love to help in any way I can) My place is right in Portland and you can literally walk to most, (if not all) desired locations. It is a two story duplex that I have converted into a home for my family with a designated Airbnb area. To ensure privacy, my family stays in an area that is totally separate and secure from the Airbnb space. I have a dog (Harriet) and she will bark. Even though she is friendly, you will not have direct contact with her. My house is not modern. In fact, it is well over 100 years old. Calling it a "fixer-upper" is a bit harsh, but it does need some special love and attention. As much as I am very serious about making these upgrades happen, it has been a slow process. Take comfort in knowing that I have prioritized the Airbnb space and its the best room in the house! I am proud to have made it into a unique/comfortable/clean and cozy little Spot for my guests. (I intend to use my Airbnb revenue as a means to make such improvements to the rest of my home) I love my neighborhood. Back Bay Grill, Bayside Bowl, Bubba's, (voted best dance club) Isa and American Bayside Grill are primo hot spots within a block of my house. We are a short walk to The Museum of Art, Nickelodeon, the Old Port, (waterfront) Trader Joe's, Whole Foods Market, Deering Oaks Park and some of the nations most highly regarded microbrew pubs. On the downside, there is a resource center a few blocks from my house. You may encounter homeless people who may/may not be under the influence of drugs/alcohol. The area can easily be avoided by foot and/or by car. I provide a map that clearly shows where the resource center is and how to best avoid it. (if you choose) Please take comfort in knowing, I have lived in my neighborhood for 15 years and I feel safe in my home, and I would never have an Airbnb if this were not the case. Also, we are less than 2 minutes off the 295 highway, so traveling north or south of the city will be as easy as it gets with minimal city driving. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MY PLACE: Q: When can I check in or check out? A: I will try to accommodate your desired check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if I have a guest leaving that morning, as I need time to have the room cleaned for you. Q: Will I have a key? Can I come and go as I please? And, where do I leave the key when I leave. A: Yes, yes and leave the key in the room.
Parris street is a little two-way street right in the heart of downtown Portland, in the most diverse area of the state. Online maps measure distances in feet to the most celebrated and award winning restaurants and night spots. We are located just blocks from Portlands highly touted art district with the Portland Museum of Art within ten minutes on foot. My family has lived in the neighborhood for over a decade. We feel safe in our home and have never had an incident where someone even tried to break in.
  • Christine was a great host. Her place is in a great area, and we had everything we needed.

  • Stay here for a medium sized room with couch, desk, bed, closer, microwave, and very mini fridge!

    Katie2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great little one bedroom studio. Perfect space to rest up after a fun day or night in Portland. Easy to walk to any place you may want to visit. Christine had great tips and was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again.

    Tristan2018-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Christine’s place was exactly as described. She was very quick with communication and kind to let us check in early. It was great; walkable to Old Port and an easy location for the night to explore some of Portland on foot.

    Laura2018-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great location to experience Portland, especially if you're in town for a Sea Dogs game! Christine was great and on top of all communications. Easy, smooth stay, which is always appreciated!

  • Christine was a great host! Quick to communicate and she gave us a lot of great recommendations for our trip. Her family was very welcoming and the room was very comfortable, I would highly recommend staying here!

    Brian2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Walking distance to everything in Portland. Great communication and easy check in/out. Cozy room with a comfy bed. Would definitely stay again!

    Jeremy2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's room was exactly what I was looking for. Great value, and walkable to tons of great restaurants and clubs. Christine was a great, responsive and accommodating host. My only caveat was that the neighborhood was abit noisy in the morning... but the value and the great host were enough to make up for it.

Large first floor 1 BD apt with a small backyard/patio in a brick Victorian era home in Portland’s West End. The Old Port is only a 7min walk. The building is by Harbor View Memorial Park and Casco Bay bridge that connects Portland with South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, beaches and parks. Not to forget, Portland was named “City of the Year” in 2018 in Bon Appetit.
This space has a queen size bed with memory foam topper in the bedroom and pull out sofa in the living room. 55" HD TV with a Roku player with AT&T TV Now with 65 top channels and HBO Go. There is a gas heater in the living room that is powerful enough to heat the entire apartment. There is an AC in the bedroom only during summer months. Street parking without meters. Bus service is available. Guests share the main common hallway for entrance to the building.
  • Great newly renovated space, nice and clean. Good location walkable to downtown area. Ioan and Anna were quick to response and very accommodating.

    Heather2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable, well appointed place in a quiet location right near the Cusco Bay bridge. The gas heater made it super toasty and homey during a chilly autumn weekend!

    Ralph2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ioan and Anna’s place was great. Conveniently located in downtown Portland so you can walk to basically anywhere within 15-20 mins. We loved coming back and relaxing at the comfortable and stylishly decorated apartment after a long day of exploring Peaks Island. The place was sparkling clean and amenities made us feel right at home.

    James2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Portland is wonderful! Ioan and Anna were easily reached during our time there. My daughter and husband had dust issues since the actual building is very old. Ioan and Anna graciously offered us a pack n play for our 7 month old. The apartment is great for a young couple, but would not recommend for an infant due to busy intersection. Very walkable though!

    Erin2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We were scheduled to stay at Ioan and Anna's place for two nights and to spend two and a half days in Portland. Thanks to the good folks at American Airlines and their computer glitch cancelling our flights we end up with a one night stay and a day in Portland! However, should we come back to Portland, which we intend to do, Ioan and Anna's place would be a great place to stay. Incredibly clean, a very pleasant walk into the old port or the waterfront area, all necessary amenities, and overall excellent communication makes this a great choice. Oh, yes! And plentiful free parking around the corner made for an added bonus. So, thank you both. I just wish that we could have been able to enjoy your place more!

    Eddie2018-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Loan and Anna was great. Location was just as described, we walked to old port and restaurants. Checking in/out was easy. Parking was never an issue. Would defiantly stay again.

    Jon2017-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Loan and Anna’s place is the perfect spot for a long weekend. My wife and I were visiting for her birthday and we wanted to be able to really enjoy all the city has to offer. This place is in the perfect location, less than a ten minute walk from many of the bars, restaurants and shops. The apartment itself was well appointed and had everything you need. We did not have a car but street parking doesn’t appear to be an issue. Would recommend this place wholeheartedly.

  • Bobbi’s place is in a great location, walking distance to everything downtown. The room was very clean and comfortable. Bobbi was incredibly hospitable, I felt right at home! Check-in/check-out was simple. Thank you!

    Linnea2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stylish and immaculate! Great location, and a great value.

    Doug2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Bobbi and Tek are some of the coolest folk around and will make you feel welcome in their home. Their place is beautiful, tastefully furnished, well lit by outdoor light...and there is that added benefit of being 2 blocks away from downtown Portland ;) All in all, you can expect a fantastic place to rest your head at home whilst your time in Portland with two amazing hosts.

    Tim2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is beautifully decorated and ideally located, just a few blocks away from the Old Port neighborhood. Communication with the hosts was very easy and they usually answered within minutes. I will definitely stay at Bobbi's place again next time I visit Portland.

    Sylvain2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Bobbi's place was very nice and stylish. The location is perfect, but a note to any Southerners who are accustomed to air conditioning: this place does not have AC! Portland can get hot and humid in the summer months so be prepared. Bobbi went out of her way to help us cool off the room, but there is only so much fans can do.

    Christian2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • You can’t beat the location and hospitality here! Bobbi responded to all of our questions right away and was super helpful with local tips. The home is beautifully decorated and we loved our stay!

    Hannah2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Bobbi’s place is located right in downtown Portland! You’re able to easily walk to old port and other locations in Portland. The room was a bit hot but there was a fan that made it fine. It was also very easy to check in. All in all we had a great stay.

    Lula2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The home is beautiful. The location is amazing. With this being said, I did not appreciate the lack of concern and communication when it came to my comfort. I have stayed in many Airbnbs that do not have AC and that is fine, but this #6C apartment is another matter. It was extremely hot and uncomfortable and I would have greatly appreciated a more constructive approach rather than receiving a snarky response to sleep on the couch. I felt nauseous and sticky, and as a person with a disability which seizures can be triggered from the stress of heat, this was an issue. Yes, there are fans, but a tiny fan on the surface of the sun does little to cool a human. Nothing was done to help me and I felt disrespected as I did not pay this much money as a single woman traveling across the country to sleep on a common area couch. Additionally, I see that many others have said that this is a clean apartment. Maybe I visited on a bad day, but after being told I could check into my room half an hour early (signaling the room is ready without any other communication) I came into a room covered with dust, pubic hair, questionable stains, and dirty linens. After reaching out to the host, I was told that only then, a woman would be on their way in response to the issue. It was only when I complained that a maid coming by was announced. I had rented a car, so as the street parking is hourly, I had to spend 3+ hours of my day running around moving my car with my bags because I wanted the entire room clean before settling in. I missed hours of my first day in the city. When I came back, a couple of hours later (and well past check-in) the woman was only leaving then. So, regardless, I checked in past the listed time. The apartment still had areas caked in dust. I took pictures, sent them to my partner, and cried on my vacation. I did not appreciate the responses that I received from one of the hosts, and ended up barely spending any time here to avoid the heat amongst other things. I have never written a bad review for an AirBnB and I have always had wonderful experiences using the app, but this experience I cannot recommend. If I had not felt that the owner was being difficult, I would have checked into a hotel nearby and asked for a refund. Hopefully, this time I am heard and something is done.

Newly renovated studio in the heart of Portland's happening Arts District. Free parking for one car directly across the street. Walk everywhere on the peninsula and stay in a beautiful, clean, spacious studio apartment with a full kitchen and bath and lots of natural light. 2019 City of Portland registration STHR 008545
This studio loft apartment with a queen size bed is great for couples and business travelers. Towels and bed linens are provided, as well as coffee, tea, creamer, and sugar. The apartment features a fully appointed kitchen with everything needed to cook a full meal, a dishwasher and microwave. Enjoy high speed internet and a 49” flat screen Roku TV.
One Longfellow Square, 181 State Street, Suite 201: Hosting acts from all genres, One Longfellow Square is a great place to hear old favorites and learn new artists. State Theater, 609 Congress Street: The State Theater could easily force its captive audience to buy overpriced macrobrews. But this mid-sized venue keeps its beer selection local, so you can enjoy your favorite Maine brew while you listen to the national acts that visit this historic theater. Portland has nearly 400 restaurants. A few worth trying right in the neighborhood include Emiltsa, 555, Taco Escobarr, Sur Lie, David's, Empire, and Boda.
  • My husband and I stayed at Tom's delightful studio apartment on our getaway to Portland, ME. Having the parking provided was a bonus. But the best part of our rental was the central location. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. We did not use the car at all after our arrival at Tom's place. The bed is very comfortable and the air conditioning and ceiling fan were running when we arrived, so we cooled off instantly. We enjoyed many restaurants as well as a couple of tours from the harbor. Our comfortable and easily accessible accommodation made this trip one of our favorites!

    Lisa2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place was perfect - great space, easy parking, nicely decorated. Located in an amazing location near a ton of restaurants, bars, and activities. Tom was super responsive and a great host. Plus, there was coffee, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. 10/10 would stay again!

  • Amazing location

    Savanna2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This loft apartment was great! Very busy area at night.. lots of music venues, bars, etc. but still pretty mellow compared to larger cities. I'd recommend it. It's larger than most singles I've stayed in at this price point and has an extra bed in a cool loft if you need another bed. Lockboxes and no host contact, which I love (very responsive to messages though)

This is the complete downstairs floor of a classic 1896 house in Portland's East Bayside, a neighborhood increasingly famous for dining and local brewing/tasting establishments. All are welcome! You will have complete privacy, and also the support of our hostess, Laura, who lives on-site and will be available to help you have a satisfying and memorable experience here.
Particularly good for enjoying Portland dining, local craft beer and night life.
East Bayside is on the Portland peninsula and features some of Portland's best dining and beer-tasting establishments. A few minutes walk from the Eastern Prom with its majestic views and public beaches.

  • Great place to stay! Great location and tons of room. The pictures dont do it justice. Will definitely look to stay here again.

    Jonathan2018-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • It's was a nice stay for us. Laura was very welcoming and hospitable. The place is spacious and neat; everything seems new in the kitchen and rooms are freshly painted. The place was as pictured and the area can be walkable; although we didn't because it was rainy and quite cold. There are local breweries around the corner, a distillery and a little place that makes mead. Only a few minutes drive to restaurants and other breweries. All in all we had a great time and this place was a very nice stay for us.

  • Wow - what a great place to stay when exploring this vibrant city. The space is Huge, clean, bright and well-appointed. Our hosts were great at communication and helped us to find things of interest - only wish we could have stayed longer. Ideally placed to walk to many places that are essential visits. I may be back.

    Leigh2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • As one of the cheapest accommodations we could find in town we weren't necessarily looking for anything special, but this apartment beat all our expectations. Two comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms, a nice spacious kitchen, comfy living room and porch, and an extra dining/living room. We also liked all the books left in there by our hosts, even if we sadly didn't have much time to dedicate to reading them, it was a nice touch perfectly in line with our reading preferences!

Tiny Cottage in Portland's Westend. Two floor space with an open kitchen, dining and living on the 1st floor, and bed and bathroom upstairs. Set back from the street, with a private yard. From here you can walk to everything in greater Portland. Great for short or longer term visiting. Great for couples, small flexible families, students and residents. Located between Mercy and Maine Medical Center. Blocks from Museums, MECA, USM, Parks, Markets and loads of great restaurants and shops.
This is a free standing little house. The shaded side yard is your own private outdoor space. The front enclosed porch is great for bikes, stroller, and/or drinks on a buggy evening.
This is a downtown residential neighborhood with access to all that Portland has to offer. We located conveniently one block up from Longfellow Square. Groceries, basic and gourmet, are available behind the house and down the street. Local Pharmacies and Reny's "a Maine adventure" Department Store will have any necessity you've forgotten. The surrounding shops and restaurants should exceed any additional shopping expectations. There is an elementary school next door with playground for children. There is a dance and yoga studio (Hustle and Flow) in the building behind the house with drop in classes. Local theatre, movies, music, bowling, and the Cross Arena are steps from your door. We love One Longfellow Square for great music in an intimate setting one block from home.
  • The Little House is a phenomenal option for a trip to Portland. It’s proximity was walkable to all of the places we wanted to go and it was very easy to get to. The house itself was very well kept and had everything that we needed. Parking (especially on weekends) was nearby and accessible as well. Highly recommend to anyone!

  • We had a lovely stay in Kitty's cute and quirky house. We loved the eclectic design. • The apartment was lovely and spacious! Every amenity you could need was there including great coffee and even a shopping bag to use to pick up items in the neighborhood . We strolled over a big section of the area the evening we arrived. Scott led us to a perfect little street with several restaurants, a brewery and a gin distillery. After chatting with more locals and reading menus, we selected Terlingua’s. Great time on the patio with some tasty brisket! Completed our stay at Becky’s diner for lunch the next morning ! Also, make sure you stop by the bookstore before you leave to bid farewell to Scott and Cathy ! We lucked out and discovered an historical map of the neighborhood in Augusta where my husband grew up . Enjoy !

  • Unfortunately didn't get to meet Bobbi but her husband Tek was very kind and helpful in suggestions of things to do and places to go. Their home is in an amazing location. I was able to walk about all day happy knowing that I didn't have a far trek back when I would be exhausted. It was a little warmer than expected due to no AC but that's not their fault as I seemed to bring the Louisiana heat with me to Portland! Nothing that a fan and no covers while sleeping couldn't fix. I would definitely stay here again if I ever return to the area! Wonderful people and wonderful home!

    Indra2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a really lovely stay at Bobbi's home. The whole apartment is beautiful, spacious, and artistically decorated and the room itself was nice and cozy. I especially liked waking up to the sky light. Bobbi and Tek are both extremely hospitable and easygoing. The neighborhood was filled with beautiful architecture and amazing restaurants. • Very friendly hosts and made us feel at home. Gave us all the info we needed on places to eat and hang out. Their home is uber clean and the room and bed are quite comfortable. We plan to book another stay at Bobbi's soon.

  • Great location, beautiful, clean space.

  • Beautiful apartment located in the heart of downtown Portland. Hosts are kind and communicative. The apartment itself is cozy and has a nice little patio. The only trouble I had was finding a parking spot close by but I'd recommend this spot to anyone who wants to spend a night out in Portland.

  • Bobbi and Tek were super friendly and accommodating. Their place was unique and the location can't be beat.

The unit is cozy and quiet tucked at the rear of the building on the first floor. There are privacy/light block shades for your convenience. I have a very eclectic and unique style that many people enjoy. There’s a bit of an Egyptian theme in the apartment now but it will always be changing. I like to promote some friends’ art work and I will always have live plants to keep the air fresh.
Steps to the Old Port full of shops, cafes, museums and more. Across from the Merrill Auditorium and City Hall and the Federal and District Courthouses. There’s one parking spot in an adjacent lot available as well as coin op laundry in the basement.
The building is across the street from the Merrill Auditorium and City Hall. Just a couple blocks from the famed Old Port and near the courts, library, lots of awesome restaurants and boutiques for shopping. There are several parks nearby. 295 is just around the corner as well as Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s just a couple blocks away.

Go Boutique on a Budget! The Black Elephant Hostel is a very vibrant and comfortable space with unique decor. We pride ourselves on being super clean, affordable and friendly. Our LOCATION CANNOT BE BEAT! We are one block outside of Old Port and nestled among some of the finest eateries, shopping, and entertainment in Portland. Kristofferson is a small but cozy room with a full size bed. Perfect for a couple or lone traveler.
Our hostel is a home away from home where you can kick your shoes off and relax on the couch after a long day. Our funky decor and fun vibes will leave you feeling energized and inspired. Don't forget to peruse our guestbook and add your drawing to our chalk wall before you leave!
The Old Port area is packed with plentiful dining opportunities! We were named the '2018 Restaurant City of the year' by Bon Apetite! Just steps from the hostel's doorway, you'll find everything from early-morning cafés to popular weekend brunch spots and highly rated restaurants where you may find a varying global cuisine for lunch and dinner. There is simply not enough time to explore all that the Portland dining scene has to offer... but it's worth a shot, right?! From lively local Bars and Pubs to craft breweries and distilleries, Portland's nightlife is vibrant, artistic, and varied. Whether it be good drink and conversation at a pub, a night out dancing, a look into some of Portland's own breweries and distilleries, or a more refined cocktail in town to end the day, you are sure to find plenty of options within a short walking distance! Excellent dining and nightlife aside, Portland offers a variety of activities for both lone travelers and families. Year round or seasonal this can be anything from a ride on the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad to a Historical tour via horse and carriage. With Maine College of Art (MECA) nestled at its heart, Portland is overflowing with artistic individuals, culture, and entertainment. From galleries and museums to theatre and concerts, the city has plenty to offer in the way of artistic ventures!
  • My husband and I stayed in a private room for one night on our way back to Acadia. The room was small but perfect for our needs since it was a quick stopover. The hostel is very cute and nicely decorated. The bathrooms are also very clean and spacious which is a definite plus. Quick and easy walk to the Old Port area.

  • We only had one night in Portland before continuing the drive to Acadia National Park. The hostel’s location allowed us to maximize the small amount of time we had—tons of restaurants, bars, and music venues that were walkable. We did it all and came back to a hip spot, clean room, and easy check out the following morning. All set. Would recommend this. Just be aware of the parking situation, which is street parking only unless you go to a pay lot a few blocks down. Parking restrictions vary from 1-2 hours during business hours to 15 mins but overnight is ok. Just check with them ahead of arriving and they’ll have tips.

  • Black Elephant hostel is perfectly located near the Old Port where there are so many restaurants and shops to choose from! We had no trouble finding parking on the street nearby, which is something that we had been concerned about coming in. The hostel itself is clean and the decor is fun and upbeat. We had no complaints!

  • We loved staying in the Black Elephant - great vibes and a community feel in the public spaces, but enjoyed having a private room. Wish we could have stayed longer!
