  • The place was really great! On a quiet street, but still close to fun things. The home was really beautiful and the room felt lavish!

    Samantha2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best B&Bs we've ever stayed at, for sure! Josh is a wonderful host and his space is one of the best, most stylish that I have ever seen. This is a really great deal if you are in Louisville, and I highly recommend you stay here.

    Brendan2019-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights at this beautiful Victorian-style home. Our suite was very nicely appointed, spacious and professionally decorated. There was always parking in front of the house. The neighborhood was very nice, close to gorgeous Victorian mansions and less than two miles from downtown Louisville. Josh was a gracious and thoughtful host, and we very much enjoyed meeting him. We had a wonderful and comfortable stay, so we highly recommend his place and would definitely stay there again.

Your private studio apartment on the 3rd floor of our home is a great space in a wonderful location (easy access to all of Louisville but in the charm of Old Lou). There is a full size bed tucked into a nook to provide you with sleeping comfort while the rest of the apartment is bright and light. There is a complete kitchen with all of the necessary cooking utensils, a claw foot tub in the spacious bathroom and a couch that folds out into a bed that could accommodate another person.
The indoor staircase leads you from the front porch to your Louisville getaway. You can relax on the couch and watch tv (local HD channels and Netflix), take a relaxing bubble bath in the claw foot tub, look at downtown from the front windows, cook a meal in the full kitchen, catch up on reading in the cozy bed, hang out on the front porch to enjoy a cocktail or, if you must, get some work done from the comfort of the table/desk. We have all you need here in the studio! The hardwood floors are smooth and clean, the rugs are collected from around the world. There are glassware options so you can pour your drink just so, and if you forget your shampoo there’s some on hand. Anticipating your needs is what motivates me...try me!
Old Louisville is the largest collection of Victorian homes in the United States. The architecture is phenomenal and the people are interesting. There is an eclectic mix in Old Lou and we hope that you can walk around and appreciate what once was and what is. Just blocks from Central Park, St James Court and some local eateries, you can stay in our neighborhood the entire trip or venture to other parts of Louisville as you wish. From here all of Louisville is within reach, but we’re especially close to Downtown and UoL and you can even take a free bus to get to either.
  • Such a cute cozy apartment on the 3rd floor of this house. Amity was super responsive and a wonderful host. You have your own entrance to get up the apartment so privacy is easy. You feel like you have the place to yourself. The house is a little over a mile from downtown. It was like a 5 min uber to get down there or like a 25 min walk. We chose to walk a lot because it was such beautiful weather. Great place to stay in Louisville. An awesome bang for your buck

    Matthew2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amity's home is in the heart of Louisville. It's near a lot of public transportation options and easily accessible for lyft/Uber. The space was clean and organized. It has a sort of scandanavian style decor which I loved! So much light comes into the space. We were very happy with the entire stay! We would stay again in a heartbeat.

    Taylor2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • As a first time AirBnB stay, it exceeded my expectations. Amity, is a gracious host and the location and cleanliness of space was top notch. It’ll be hard to stay at another Airbnb with how high amity set the bar!

    Thomas2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Amity's studio apartment in Old Louisville was the perfect place to stay for a visit to the city. The apartment is beautifully decorated and super convenient to Old Louisville and the rest of the city. Amity sent me a very detailed welcome guide before my arrival which was very helpful, though I didn't actually see her during my stay. The apartment is very private and you have your own entrance separate from the rest of the house. Amity even left some chocolates as a welcome gift. A beautiful and thoughtful Airbnb, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I'm ever back in Louisville.

    James2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The space is so relaxing and beautiful. The location was a short walk to Old Louisville, and bikes were around the corner to rent. Amity was so helpful and kind!

    Casey2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The location is great a quick rideshare ride or free bus ride to downtown. The place was very clean and had everything we needed. I ran into Amity in the morning and had a quick conversation, she was very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again when in Louisville!

    Manuel2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Very friendly and helpful host! Always responded to my messages!

    Mykenzie2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient to all areas of Louisville. Took a tour of a wonderful Victorian Era neighborhood around the corner. The 3rd floor loft space is cute and comfortable with all expected amenities and then some like Netflix/Amazon Prime video access. We received some homemade bourbon chocolate balls from the owners as a little treat, and man were they tasty! A fine place to stay for a single night or multiple.

This is our neat and rather fab Victorian house near Central Park in Old Louisville, shared among a few young professionals. We're out of town often, so this is a great place for light & independent travelers. It's comfortable to hang out in, or use as a base to explore from. Note: this room is for rent for no less than 30 days at a time.
This is a room within our 130-year old house at the north end of Old Louisville, directly south of the downtown museum district, and few blocks north of Central Park (close to St James Court). The existing house is actually the remaining top two floors of the 3-story building, the 1st floor of which was converted to a bakery in 1922. The total living space is 2000 sqft. Our place is always undergoing some renovation, but it's 'mostly done,' and quite comfortable. We have a large, fenced back yard, and rooftop deck (best room in the house Spring through Fall). The guest room is private, small but with a 10' ceiling and full-size loft bed; it can accommodate two 'fit' people. The house is shared among several young professionals (in the art/design and culinary fields) with varying schedules; it is unlikely to see us all at the same time. We also have a feist (small dog, in our portraits) who is quite friendly. Nota Bene: we do our best to keep things tidy and put together, but this is our home, and we do have lives within and without -- not all is perfect. We welcome you into our home; please remember that it is that and not a hotel.
Old Louisville is the most densely populated and diverse neighborhood in Louisville. We have the most intact neighborhood of Victorian homes after New York City. Century-old trees and the park nearby make this a lovely place to walk around.
  • Jeff and his wife were very nice host. They were helpful and accommodating.

    Youssef2011-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Everything described was accurate; although I did not meet jeff, our communication was smooth over messages. I recommend it.

    Rami2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Bess were the best hosts! I was relocating out to Louisville from the west coast, and they made the transition easy. The house is kept clean and has a great old victorian feel. Jeff and Bess made themselves available to answer any questions I had about the city and were flexible with my check-out date since I was looking for a place to live. I am really happy that I stayed with them. They were both so nice and accommodating!

    Nicholas2012-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great, genuine people. They always made themselves available for some guidance or a chat, which I really appreciated as a new transplant to Louisville. It's a neat area, neat space, and they really made me feel right at home. Thanks guys!

    Nicole2012-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with these guys was awesome; I'm a 'dog person', so the two dogs were an added perk to my stay. Their deck overlooking old louisville is amazing for breakfast, beers, or just hanging out. Jeff was amenable to both my early arrival and later departure...which was awesome. The room was simple and just what I needed for my first trip to louisville. I highly recommend.

    Joshua2013-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The room was quiet and cozy, I slept great. There is a terrific soul food restaurant right next door that is a definite must-visit. Jeff and Bess are very considerate hosts, and the other housemates are quite friendly. The rooftop porch is pleasant, and the dog and cat are well behaved.

    Christopher2013-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very good location and place is just as described. Amazingly reasonable price and interesting neighborhood, felt very safe.

    Bex2013-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very good time in Louisville. The place is indeed cozy and it's very conveniently located close to downtown. Everyone was nice and friendly, the place is clean, the price is very good -- I definitely recommend staying here. I've been here twice. Good place, good people.

  • The carriage house is located in a lovely part of old Louisville, and the gardens and fountains are lovely! The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay at Josh's place.

    Mona2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Josh was more than accommodating for our stay in Louisville. He was quick to communicate and always very clear. The space itself was great as we pretty much had our own private carriage house. In an older part of town with eclectic charm!

Our Carriage House is warm and inviting to guests from all over the world. We are located close to downtown, Central Park, University of Louisville and the Bardstown Road corridor. There are so many unique shops, restaurants, bars, and places to visit close by, and some are walkable in warmer weather. The Carriage House has just undergone a complete renovation from top to bottom - we hope you love it as much as we do! Don’t let the outside fool you - the inside of our home is the treasure!
You will understand the uniqueness of the space the minute you walk in the front door. Our 100 year old former carriage shop is perfectly imperfect! The concrete foundation and super high ceiling lead you up a few steps into a modern, full sized kitchen with 4-burner gas stove/oven and full size refrigerator/freezer for our longer stay guests. The fully refinished hardwoods and glass block window provide for a homey but modern feel. As a longtime chef and restaurateur, I understand the desire for some to cook, even when they get away, so we have tried to stock our kitchen accordingly. But should you require special kitchen items, just ask us ahead of time - chances are I have it for you to use! You will love how the kitchen flows into the main living space, with 16 foot tin ceiling; it's the perfect mesh of industrial and new. The living room has a brand new leather sleeper sofa that is ready to accommodate extra guests or kids traveling with their parents. We provided a new, flat screen 40 inch TV with Roku, but with so much to do around Louisville, you may not have time to turn it on. The master is bright and airy, with a regal queen sized bed and white sheer curtains that are, well, fit for a queen! The "water closet" is separate from the shower and tub area for extra privacy! Speaking of the shower, did we mention that it is a walk-in, all tile, dual head shower? Should you feel like relaxing and winding down your day with a bath, there is a refinished, original claw foot tub to soak in. This thing is huge! Please note, in addition to the 5 steps up into the carriage house, there are 3 steps up for the bathtub and shower access. Looking for another way to unwind? Well, stroll down the hall to our "Book Nook." We have two comfortable leather reading chairs and an entire bookshelf of classics and modern titles to choose from. From the book nook, you have access to our shared courtyard. It is there that you may be greeted by the two real masters of the property, Bronx and Manhattan. Bronx is our special dog who just turned 10 but it still going strong. He survived a cancer scare a few years ago and had his lower jaw removed, but as you will see, he is the happiest dog I have ever known. Manhattan, or Hattie, is the newest addition to our family of rescues. She is soft and gray, but oh so full of life. If you are a dog person, please come out and meet them; if not, that's okay too. Please note that although we are dog people, we cannot allow pets in the carriage house. This if for your pets safety and ours. We don't even let our own dogs in there! Our courtyard has a porch swing and gas grill, although with the changing of weather, there are leaves falling every day, so it is a very rustic space right now, but you are welcome to stroll around. Please note that we have a strict no smoking policy inside the carriage house. You are welcome to smoke on the deck, but please extinguish and dispose of of butts. You will hear a few planes land, church bells or even an occasional train. You’re downtown, it’s urban, soak it in. We have added blackout curtains for the three windows on the sleeping side and added vertical blinds over the super cool glass block windows. There is parking immediately in front of the entrance that is almost always (99% of time) for our guests and it is free at all times. There are never more than a handful of cars on the street here, so parking is always available. Don’t be fooled by the exterior. This home was a commercial operation years and years ago and we have kept that same look and charm. It is industrial and does not draw a lot of attention to itself in its surroundings. But step through that blue door and you WILL be amazed.
There are so many great restaurants and bars nearby. Churchill Downs, 4th Street Live and University of Louisville are a short Uber or Lyft away. Many local spots are walking distance, including Central Park. Always stick to roads and be aware of your surroundings. There are certainly some hot spots that you can walk to: a Rite Aid, a wine bar, a brewery, several restaurants, etc. The warmer the weather, the easier it is to access more places. But everything is a short drive or Lyft ride away as well.
  • Super cute apartment! The hosts were amazing. They left out snacks, coffee, and even had a list of recommendations for restaurants, breweries, and places to go. The best bnb we stayed at yet!

    Jennifer2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and MIL enjoyed the space. Conveniently located and easy to get around from here. Thanks so much!

    Elizabeth2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Doug and Amanda’s carriage house exceeded expectations in every way. Great little touches, incredible shower, comfortable bed, basically checked all the boxes. Have already recommended a friend to stay here and would definitely come back on another trip to Louisville!

    Alicia2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely well put together place to stay. You will be well taken care of by Amanda and Doug. They gave me my space but also made sure to check in on me in case I needed anything such as paper products. I would recommend staying with them to anyone.

    Ryan2018-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very stylish! Not the best neighborhood, but great advice on where to go!

    Julianna2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The inside of this place is fun and eclectic. We were surprised about the outside condition and location. It was our first time in the area and location is definitely key. The owners were friendly upon our arrival. Unfortunately, we had a screaming, cursing and the radio blaring from a car take place out our windows from 5-6:45 in the morning. To no fault of the owners, as they can’t control who/what happens in the side street-but we were definitely not comfortable addressing the situation and local PD was not available either.

    Holly2019-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy

    Doug2018-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Doug and Amanda's place was a great stay. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the place was quiet. They have a booklet with lots of local tips that were spot on. There's a new donut shop just a couple blocks away that was fantastic. I stayed here before the Derby Marathon and it couldn't have worked out better.

  • We love the fact it seemed like home, not a stuffy hotel room. A full kitchen, front room; and a couch and recliner was great. We both sleep in recliners and have for years. Most hotels do not have comfy chairs or couches. In fact my husband fell asleep on the couch. The TV channels were awesome and we watched TV well pass midnight. Rose was very helpful. At first we thought it was not in the best neighbor but felt safe in our room.

    Karen2018-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • My husband travels frequently to Louisville, and this is always his first choice to stay while traveling. It’s always clean, convenient, and great amenities.

    Samantha2017-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a get away in the heart of Louisville. Rose was able to help us with all of our questions in a timely manner. We didn't realize there was a city wide event going on that shut many of the streets down or made them inaccessible for parking. Rose contacted us to let us know that we shouldn't park on the street so we didn't get ticketed and told us where to park. We highly recommend Rose's place and Rose as a host.

  • This place is amazing! Very vintage looking and has a warm home feeling. Clean, comfortably, water in the frig, and a few snacks on the counter. The bed in the main bedroom is EVERYTHING. Best bed you'll ever sleep on. This spot is close to downtown with $5-$6 uber rides to most places located there. Walkable to some shops and corner stores. Super close to a soul food restaurant called Shirley Mae's. It's the best for southern cuisine and some of Louisville's finest fried chicken! The WIFI was a tad slow for my taste, but it works completely and the Netflix access was a plus! Anne was also very responsive and receptive to questions. She responds quickly and even accomodated a late check out at short notice due to my flight getting suddenly cancelled and rescheduled two hours before I was supppsed to check out. I would definitely stay here again and I recommend this spot for anyone on business or vacation.

  • What a great apartment!! Close to downtown, roomy and clean. Full kitchen, plenty of space for us to rest, relax and not stress about things. Felt completely safe the entire time, and in a big city traveling with my daughter that doesn't happen all of the time. Hostess was prompt to respond with anything we needed. Better than we expected, great value. When you drive into the neighborhood it might seem a little run down but it's absolutely fine! It's a quaint, wonderful area and everyone we ran into was friendly, just some of the neighborhood isn't into mowing their lawns! The yard for the actual place was pretty, and had the cutest little area to chill outside!! Just don't forget the bug spray (that she's kindly left for you). Plus there's sweet porch cats to keep you company and greet you in the morning and after a long day. I would recommend this apartment with no reservation to anyone, it was a wonderful experience!

  • This is a beautiful and BIG home, with large rooms kept immaculately clean. Being at the end of a street with a gate at the end meant it was exceptionally quiet, both in the day and at night. We did not use the kitchen, but it is also large and well stocked.

  • Nice place!!! great communication with host. Perfect location

  • This is a great house for a large group! We loved how much space there was - enough beds and bathrooms for everyone to comfortably stay for a weekend. The kitchen was perfect, and had everything we needed. Check-in and check-out were very easy with a lockbox. Everything was clean and ready for us when we arrived and check-out procedures were minimal effort. We asked for a late check-out time, which was accommodated with no problem. Communication was very good and timely. Thanks so much for a great stay in Louisville!

Cozy up over a former stable at our 1887 home in Old Louisville near downtown. Lots of love & attention go into making Little Carriage House on the Alley the perfect home for your Derby City adventures. The bohemian studio-ish space has all the design-forward touches you'd expect from a national lifestyle writer, and you'll have access to inside tips from your host - I've written about Louisville's food and bourbon scene for 10 years! **This space was featured on design site Apartment Therapy**
This is your own four walls in a studio style flat over a former stable in Old Louisville, an intriguing, historic and primarily residential neighborhood that's a super quick drive to top restaurants and other adventures in Louisville. Inspired by our own world travels we created this space from scratch to be a comfy and livable space for travelers looking for something a little edgier. You're staying in part of our home, not someone's 'investment property,' and it feels immediately personal. It's more than a place to crash; Little Carriage House is a memorable part of your Louisville experience. *** oh no, your dates are booked? Try other our listing at https://www.airbnb.com/h/vertigolouisville *** Now then. With 600+ square feet altogether, here's what to expect: SLEEP AND CHILL A roomy, light-filled living/bedroom has a super comfy queen sized Tuft & Needle bed and high-quality linens (that's so important!) and a blue velvet small sofa and ottoman you will want to Instagram immediately. Roku TV comes preloaded with Netflix. Exposed, limewashed by hand brick, and touches like vintage 2x4s as trim make for a rustic/industrial vibe; and landed this space on home design site Apartment Therapy. [Look up "A Sprawling 132-Year-Old Renovated Victorian Is Filled With All Our Favorite Details (And 8 Fireplaces)"!] A small rack with hangers provides space for your things. There's a window unit AC in here to keep things cool. ***** EAT, DRINK, BE MERRY A small dining room that's open to the kitchen has a vintage dining table (that does double duty as a work desk) and shelving crafted of reclaimed Kentucky horse farm fencing. The battered, beaten wood floor planks are original. Another window unit AC in here cools this area. ***** COOK The little kitchen is complete with full size stove, an amazing vintage farm sink, and full size fridge. Dishes are DIY here (as in no dishwasher) and you'll find dishware, cookware including cutlery, a toaster, and a coffee pot. ***** WASH UP A VERY compact bathroom with equally compact (I mean it, it's teeny!) step-in shower. Let's talk about this. Have you been in an airplane bathroom? Ok, now imagine shoehorning a shower in that. It's hard to dress in there without opening the door (to the kitchen, though you still have pricacy because that can't be seen from the living/bedroom). Please believe me when I tell you it's probably the tiniest bathroom you've ever been in. A standard-sized adult male did live here for years and managed, but I want you to be prepared. ***** HANG OUT A small balcony overlooks our courtyard (where you're also free to chill in the seating area or whip up dinner on the Weber). This is city living so you'll also see a parade of neighbor's back yards. ***** MUST LOVE DOGS We have two dogs. You may hear them bark in the courtyard but we discourage extracurricular barking. Truffle is a senior Pomeranian and Cassius Thunderpaws (aka Cash) is Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd bundle of exuberant love who wants nothing more than to meet you. Both available for cuddles! I also offer an Airbnb Experience starring Cash - ask for details! Take note: Our other dog-friendly Airbnb, Vertigo Louisville, shares the courtyard so you may see a pup who's staying with other guests. Bringing your own puppers? Yay! We're big fans of dog people and we'd love for you to bring your dog (that's just ONE, please). We may (possibly) be able to lend you a crate and will provide a doggie welcome kit. BUT: we do require that you check with me *before* booking and tell me about your dog (don't worry, NO size limit or breed restriction!). I'll send you our special house rules for pups and ask you to agree before proceeding with booking. Please note - until you've asked and agreed to the rules, don't use instant book or we can decline the bookings. ***** OLD HOUSE LOVE This old stable was built in 1887 and later converted to a garage with this flat above it.At one time it was a woodworker's shop (and honestly, in 132 years who knows what else?) We worked really (really!) hard on renovating the space but it's not perfect, and that's not what we're after. We love the character of quirky old spaces and if you do too, we'll get along just fine. ***** WHAT'S IT MEAN TO STAY IN A CARRIAGE HOUSE IN THE CITY? This flat is above our garage, so guess what that means? Yep, we open the garage every weekday morning before work. Between that and old windows overlooking a fairly busy street, light sleepers may prefer something in a quieter area. We've slept here quite a bit and been fine, but if you're used to a quiet country area you'll notice the city soundscape. Also, the whole 'On the Alley' name? Yeah. It's on an alley. Know your comfort level with watching daily urban life unfold outside your window before booking. Next door is an auto body garage; they're great neighbors, but the cinderblock building isn't really part of the attraction here. I suggest looking out the other windows at the gorgeous 1860s church across the street. ***** THERE WILL BE RULES We don't have a ton of rules but we mean business on all of them. This is our home and we've worked incredibly hard on it and ask that you respect it, as well as the neighborhood that supported us when we got our rental license. There's no smoking (of anything) in Little Carriage House *or* on the balcony – anywhere on the property, for that matter. We are so very strict on that! Smoking = leaving. Registered guests only, and we mean that too. You've been vetted by Airbnb and I'm sure your friends are lovely, but I don't know them, and this is our home, not a place for you to host a gathering. Do note we have a Nest cam that will capture all comings and goings on the property. If you're traveling with a dog we require that you contact us to ask for and agree to the pet rules *before* booking. You'll find we're very chill so long as you observe these house rules. ***** WANT MORE? Still reading? Awesome! Come find us on Insta or F B at Vertigo Louisville or look for # littlecarriagehouseonthealley We have the conditional use permit and license required from Louisville Metro. We're also the OG Airbnb, as in this is our home, not a place run by an absent owner or management company. If you need anything, I'll pop out my back door and be there in one minute to help. *****
We're in Old Louisville, in a historic, urban, primarily residential neighborhood called Limerick that's walking distance to downtown (20-30 minutes, depending on where you're headed). The amazing St. James Court, and Central Park (free summer Shakespeare shows!) are a short walk away. This is the largest concentration of Victorian homes in the country, and is a historic preservation district. Basically, you can walk around and just ogle mansions to your heart's content. You're minutes by car from Louisville's amazing restaurants and bars, in the heart of a diverse residential area that's beginning to transform into a destination in its own right. Here's a look at what we've got nearby (15 minutes or less on foot) ...A great family-owned small craft beer brewery at dog-friendly and laid back Old Louisville Brewery ...Crazy good doughnuts and excellent local coffee at the awesome North Lime shop (first breakfast there is free on us!:) ...The fabulous Bar Vetti with cocktails and sumptuous Italian fare that the local restaurant critic calls Louisville's best food. ...Six Ten Magnolia, the flagship restaurant from James Beard award winning Edward Lee (who you may have seen on Mind of a Chef or in the New York Times). It's one of Food & Wine's Top Forty Restaurants so book ahead! ...And then all sorts of cool little nooks and crannies I can't wait to tell you about. Old Louisville isn't on the radar of many travel writers so you can really stumble across some cool off the beaten track places -- with the right guide ;)
  • The carriage house was simply amazing. Beautiful space. Interesting neighborhood. Thoughtful accommodations. Great hosts. This is truly an Airbnb gem!

    Adam2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We stayed a weekend; and wish we could’ve stayed longer. The apartment’s description is accurate. From the moment we walked into the gate, we loved the charm of the place. The place was clean and organized; easy to find things, too; adorable decorations and the bed was so comfortable. I was hesitant about the bathroom quarters because of the description on the Airbnb site; because of my size. But, I did not feel claustrophobic at all. Water was very hot! Dana had neighborhood suggestions for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. She communicated through email, changes or tidbits that so there were no surprises. The neighborhood is going through gentrification and this 1887 carriage house is an asset to this part of Louisville. We will be back!

    Mila2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Of your in Louisville you should stay at this place. Very nice And clean apartment and Dana, her husband and obviously Cash (their dog, unfortunately we didn’t meet their 2nd dog) are great hosts. Great tips, flexible on check in time and easily reachable for questions. Definitely recommend this place!

    Marcus2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • New place for Dana on her property. I expected the same as at Vertigo ( the original renovated space ). Of course Dana exceeded expectations again . Smaller space but perfect for single traveler or couple. The same “wanderlust” vibe in the space with all kitchy touches in the lamp -and decorative ambient lighting. Awesome sheets made in USA “Red Cotton” much appreciated and lovely smelling organic shampoos/conditioner/body wash . Of which I will order ASAP. Don’t mind the small shower it works . Fan n air conditioning provided white noise n drowned out city noises. Sweet place with all the amenities of home n coffee too! Once u check in, u don’t wanna leave !

    Shelley2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The reason I booked an Airbnb in Louisville is because I'm moving there from Brooklyn in a couple of weeks for work and was in town (for the very first time!) to look for a place to live. My only criteria in booking a place were that it be affordable and dog-friendly; I really could have ended up just about anywhere. After staying an entire week (and an extra night, even!) I cannot overstate how lucky I was to have booked with Dana at the Carriage House. The space is thoughtful, comfortable and adorable; the suggestions for things to do are spot-on and the neighborhood has some true gems; my dog Georgia found a new best bud in Cash. For me, though ... a stressed out Louisville novice and future Louisvillian ... the best part of my stay was having the perfect host for my first time there. I certainly sought out much more advice than the average guest and having access to a literal expert on Louisville turned out to be invaluable to me. But anyone at all will see that Dana loves her home, the Carriage House, Vertigo, Old Louisville, the city of Louisville, and everything that they have to offer. Most importantly, it truly feels like she wants you to love them all, too ... and makes it super easy for you to do so!

    Daniel2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Well let's see, where do I start? I guess the best review I can give is that we decided on an impromptu stay at the Carriage House at the end of our trip after staying 2 nights at Dana's other location, Vertigo, the previous week. Everything you can ask for in an Airbnb will be included in your stay here. From the decor, provisions, and extra small touches you will be hard-pressed to find a better place to stay anywhere - much less Louisville.

    Richmond2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Carriage house is absolutely spotless and gorgeous. We loved how accommodating and hospitable Dana and her husband were, and how sweet their dogs are! It's a lovely location tucked in a small neighborhood just minutes away from downtown. I cannot recommend this stay highly enough!

    Olivia2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great stay! The space is absolutely gorgeously designed and has all of the little touches that make it seem homey. Dana was clear and available for any questions I had. I had a wonderful experience!

BUT: we require you check *before* booking and tell me about your dog (don't worry, NO size limit or breed restriction!). I'll send you our house rules for pups and ask you to agree before proceeding with booking. But first, please know they MUST be able to climb the stairs; for your safety and your dog's, we CAN'T have guests carrying a squirming sentient being up the very steep steps. The stairs at the Carriage House are much less iffy, so please consider that if these will be a problem. *** ᴏʟᴅ ʜᴏᴜsᴇ ʟᴏᴠᴇ This old house was built in 1887. We worked really (really!) hard on renovating the space but it's not perfect, and that's not what we're after. We love the character of old houses, and if you do too, we'll get along just fine. ***** THERE WILL BE RULES We don't have a ton of rules but we mean business on all of them. This is our home and we've worked incredibly hard on it and ask that you respect it, as well as the neighborhood that supported us when we won our rental license. There's no smoking (of anything) or vaping in Vertigo, on the balcony, or in the courtyard – anywhere on the property, for that matter. We are so very strict on that! Smoking = leaving. Registered guests only, and we mean that too. You've been vetted by Airbnb and I'm sure your friends are lovely, but I don't know them, and this is our home, not a place for you to host a gathering. Yes, that means even for an hour. And hi, that means inside Vertigo and in our private courtyard too. Do note we have a Nest cam that captures comings and goings on the property. If you're traveling with a dog we require that you contact us to ask for and agree to the pet rules *before* booking. You'll find we're very chill so long as you observe these house rules. ***** Party of 3? Vertigo can be a three-guest space but because of the stairs we limit younger ones to ages 12 and up. The third person gets the comfy couch, which is in the same room as the bed. ***** WANT MORE? Still reading? Awesome! Come check out more pictures and Inspiration on Insta or f-b at Vertigo Louisville.
What does our diversity mean for you? You'll likely see people with different life experiences and resources than you – as someone with discretionary travel money – will have. Here's a look at what we've got nearby (15 minutes or less on foot) >A great family-owned small craft beer brewery at dog-friendly and laid back Old Louisville Brewery >Crazy good doughnuts and excellent local coffee at the awesome North Lime shop (first breakfast there is free on us!:) >The fabulous Bar Vetti with cocktails and sumptuous Italian fare that the local restaurant critic calls Louisville's best food. >Six Ten Magnolia, the flagship restaurant from James Beard award winning Edward Lee (who you may have seen on Mind of a Chef or in the New York Times). And then all sorts of cool little nooks and crannies I can't wait to tell you about. Old Louisville isn't on the radar of many travel writers so you can really stumble across some cool off the beaten track places -- with the right guide ;)
  • Dana and Brian are wonderful hosts. Dana is more than willing to share her extensive knowledge of things to do and places to go in Louisville. Vertigo is so homey and welcoming. We would absolutely stay there again on future trips to Louisville!

    Ciara2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved the space that was created from an attic! It is warm and welcoming while whimsical, delightful and thoughtfully created. The thoughtful touches are everywhere and reflect the owner's travel experience and local knowledge, which is shared with the guests in many tasteful and informative formats (chalkboard, guestbook, flyers and pamphlets, etc). Staying was a delight. Leaving was not! Thank you a million!

  • This is a great place to stay for one or two people looking for a place to stay and get a real introduction to Louisville. You get to stay in a historic residential neighborhood with plenty of great local gems within easy walking distance, but you're also a short (<10 minutes) drive to downtown and numerous other attractions. The best part is that Dana has all the best recommendations for things to see, do, eat, and drink in town, so you can really experience Louisville like a local. The apartment itself shows a real attention to detail. They've taken extraordinary care to make sure that you aren't wanting for anything during your stay. In particular, make sure to enjoy one or two records on the phonograph... And, Dana was easily accessible each time we had a question about what we should do next.

    Douglas2018-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Vertigo offers so much overall with great value and lovely details! I really enjoyed my stay!

  • Absolutely amazing place, their attention to detail is fantastic! Dana and Brian were the perfect host, we had a blast sharing stories in their courtyard. Their knowledge of the area is top notch. Nothing has been overlooked, I had no opportunity for improvement. Look no further, this is THE spot in Louisville! Best Airbnb experience I've had.

Old Louisville is a historic neighborhood filled with stunning Victorian homes and located in the heart of everything. Just blocks from Central Park and St. James Court and perfectly situated between downtown and Churchill Downs. Take a walk through the alley (or around the block) for the best coffee and donuts in town at North Lime. Around the corner, you’ll find the Filson Center (a history lover’s dream) and Buck’s Restaurant, a local gem known for its old school charm, white tablecloth service, and live piano music. Old Louisville Brewery and 610 Magnolia (owned by award-winning chef Edward Lee) are a quick walk away. If you decide to venture out of the neighborhood, you’re just a short drive from the newly renovated Speed Museum, Churchill Downs, Louisville Palace, Louisville Convention Center, Expo Center, and downtown. 5 minutes to downtown, 7 minutes to Churchill Downs, and 10 minutes to the airport.
  • We were extremely satisfied with this apartment. Communication time was fast, and hassle free. The beds were comfortable and we loved the charming atmosphere. It is a very convenient location for downtown entertainment, and Churchill Downs. The coffee shop around the corner was charming. We would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Very clean, quick response to any questions and has everything you could ever want or need!!

    Christopher2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean apartment. Check-in was very quick and easy.

    Travis2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very comfortable and attractive Victorian home in a fascinating area called Old Louisville. William was a great host - friendly, helpful, and responsive. We were there two nights. Late-night cargo planes coming into the nearby airport were noisy on one of the nights, but not on the other. The flight pattern probably depends on the weather. All in all, we had a great time!

    Virginia2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • I’d definitely recommend staying here! We came up for the half marathon and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful home in excellent location! Will was great, very responsive. There were nice touches that make you feel welcome.

    Emily2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely adorable home that is sparkling clean and nicely appointed. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

    Hayden2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Charming, but spacious, 2 bedroom, with everything you need.

    Laura2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is gorgeous and the hosts are even better. It is a very large place, in a very, very large home in Old Louisville, which is a great neighborhood. It is a great neighborhood on its own, with the best donut shop in the city, easy little corner stores and markets, and spots to eat, but the location is better than that because of how convenient it is to everything else in Louisville. This place is essentially half way between the river and the Louisville Slugger Museum and that area and Churchill Downs, which means if you are walkable (I would estimate a little over 2 miles to Churchill and maybe a little less than 2 miles to the River/KFC Yum Center/Louisville Slugger Museum) to everything. Definitely a minimum lyft ride. The apartment is bigger, cleaner, with more restored historic beauty than you are thinking from the photos! It is extremely comfortable. Don't think twice about it, this is the place you want to stay if it's available!

  • Herb was a great host. Would do it again

    Chad2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • LOVED this place! the traditional, quaint style of the home was adorable! i stayed here for a summer internship and it worked out perfectly. the bedroom was very roomy and the bathroom was huge, too. there was enough closet space, drawers, bathroom cabinets, etc to store all of my belongings for 3 months. i had access to my own fridge, too. i basically had the whole wing of the house to myself! the location was decent because it was a block away from old louisville, 10 min away from downtown, 10-15 min away from bardstown road, and 5 min away from the UofL campus. the actual street it was on was a wee bit sketchy, so it may not be the best location for a young woman to stay in alone--but okay for older professionals or couples/groups of people. you have access to a full kitchen (including a kiureg)! there is also a parking space in the back and plenty of street parking. watch out, though--my antenna got stolen off of my car when i parked it on the street! overall, it was a great place to stay and the price was well worth it. i hope to be back again!

    Ryan2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay! Herb was so helpful throughout the entire process. The building was well-maintained and had the historic charm as described. It's safe to say we'd highly recommend Herb and this property. Thanks, Herb!

  • The exceptional attention to detail to make our Derby weekend experience memorable was greatly appreciated and encourages us to book with Herb and Christopher anytime we come to Louisville!

  • Beautiful clean spacious home in a great location. Key-less entry made the check in- check out process easy. Host was very responsive and had great suggestions for the area. Highly recommend staying here!

    Corey2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Dustin’s house is absolutely beautiful. My only regret was that I was in town for work and got to spend very little time enjoying the place. Travel back and forth to downtown was easy and Carlye was always quick to respond. Great stay!

    Joseph2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Carlye’s place was great. The house was very modern and well- furnished. The kitchen was absolutely great to cook and converse in. The beds are a bit soft, so if you require a firm mattress, that’s a small consideration. The neighbors made great conversation. All in all a great place to stay.

    David2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don't do this place justice. It's so unbelievably spacious and well appointed. Carlye was responsive and helpful throughout the experience. I don't see how this could be a rental it has so much luxury.

  • Jeff place is great place to stay , very stylish house , well decorated. total privacy jeff was very accommodating as my check in time was very late in night , they have lovely dog who is very well behaved. the best thing i like in this house is heated floor in bathroom. so soothing. overall it was nice experience.

    Sandeep2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • A great experience staying with Jeff! The pictures of the space were very accurate, and everything was up to date and gorgeous. There was also plenty of room on the 3rd floor, and interacting with Jeff was great. Jeff also stocked the fridge with water and other drinks, which was a very nice touch. Very good location as well. Overall, a great stay and I highly recommend staying with Jeff!

    Zalman2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Friendly hosts. Easy parking. Great stay overall.

    Matt2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Linda were lovely to stay with. Not only was the space more than comfortable (the heated bathroom floor was luxurious), Jeff, Linda, and their dog Callie were excellent hosts. They even came out to watch the cyclocross race I was participating in, and fed me homemade chicken soup when I caught a cold. I could not have asked for a more pleasant stay in Louisville. Thanks, guys, and see you next year!

    James And Laura2016-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Linda were the best hosts! Jeff even came out to an art opening I was exhibiting work in which meant a lot. Great people, great place, the yummy snacks were a bonus and their dog is lovely. Would definitely stay here again and 100% recommend!

    Eric2018-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Linda were amazing hosts. I would 100% stay again and recommend to any guests looking for a nice quiet getaway in Louisville.

    Eric2016-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Linda were really lovely hosts. Their house is beautiful -- a really nice renovation of a historic home in the historic "Old Louisville" district. So their house and the neighborhood are just gorgeous. They were really responsive and checkin/checkout were a breeze. They live in the house, and were very friendly and welcoming, but we were also completely able to come and go as we liked without feeling at all awkward. And the third floor was all ours, so it definitely felt like we had our own space. Everything was exactly how it looked in the pictures, and Jeff and Linda were just great hosts. You'll definitely be happy with your stay here.

    Kody2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • My mom and I loved staying here! We stayed for 3 nights and felt right at home. The house was so beautiful and Jeff and his wife were great! Their dog Callie was super sweet as well! They literally thought of everything from toiletries to snacks to brochures about various places in Louisville. We had the entire upstairs to ourselves (two bedrooms, private bathroom, and mini kitchen area with microwave/mini fridge/sink/etc.). We were given our own lock code so we could enter the house freely. They even let us do a load of laundry. We had zero complaints and major compliments!

  • Great little place in Old Louisville! 2nd floor, with wooden steps and a nice private deck at the top for you to enjoy a glass of wine or a mint julep just outside of your door. The space is cozy - good for a couple or for two friends who don't mind close quarters. It was very clean! I spoke with Ryan on the phone when I was having a problem with the TV, which was an easy fix, and we chatted for while about local restaurants and places to go etc. Very nice!! I would definitely stay here again!!

  • Herb welcomed us with open arms and Derby memorabilia! We arrived getting a tour of the house and our fellow house mates. Herb had the kitchen stocked, drinks to sip on, and was available at a moments notice. Herb answers all questions timely. I asked Herb at the 11th hour for a mini fridge in the room and he had it stocked and waiting for us when we arrived. I highly recommend staying at one of Herb's places. Very charming, clean , comfortable historical home in close proximity to dining and grocery store.

  • Dibs on booking this Airbnb for next years Festival as it was PERFECT for our needs in the wonderful city of Louisville. Actually, there are 3 floors of rooms so feel free Festival goers to request 2nd and 3rd floor rooms (we'll take the lower level in 2019). The on-site host was more like a friend than an host. He picked up on our "loves" and each night I was treated to my favorite chocolate....and the other 2 girls got the royal treatment also. A free bus to get you downtown is just a block away. Great local restaurants in walking or Uber distance. If you love old homes and lovely neighborhoods to walk, this place is for you. If you like the idea of a local artist changing out the decor frequently, this is your place. If you like friendly host(s) this IS THE PLACE. In the shared living room space you can watch old movies on a projector while sipping your favorite wine, cook a meal in the shared kitchen and just basically feel at home. You even have access to the laundry room which was very handy with all of our mud/water soaked festival clothes! Lots to see and do in Louisville so go feel at home with Herb, Chris, and Marco!

    Beverly2018-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was a nice experience I enjoyed the hospitality of the hosts, Chris and Marco, and the location not far from downtown. I would stay in there again if I had to come to Louisville.

  • This was by far the BEST Airbnb I've stayed in yet! Every detail was thought of, the apartment was completely gorgeous and so comfortable! Communication with Justin was excellent and I loved that he made check-in and check-out so easy since our arrival and departure times were pretty random. This place felt like the ultimate spot for a staycation OR vacation!

    Emily2016-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is beautifully decorated and so convenient to everything we wanted to do in Louisville and made for a great stay on the bourbon trail. Johnathan was a very thoughtful host and made excellent suggestions on food and drinks close by!

    Alexandra2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is beautiful, spacious and clean as pictured. We had beautiful sunlight, room to relax, cook meals and enjoy the patio. Will definitely stay again.

  • 4 of us very much enjoyed our stay here for a wedding weekend. The hosts were communicative but gave us a large amount of privacy, as we never saw them. Overall, the apartment is spacious, cute and comfortable. As an historic building, it comes with a few quirks, but overall is a nice apartment in a historic, up-and-coming neighborhood located pretty close to downtown at a great price.

    Kaitlyn2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Tastefully decorated, exceptionally clean, and extremely comfortable older home in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Ample parking in front of home. Great location near the airport and within 10 minutes from downtown. Host responded immediately and provided all the necessary information. Really enjoyed staying in this beautiful home and look forward to future visits.

  • This apartment is gorgeous, well kept and provides all you would need for your stay in Louisville. The location rests right in the heart of the city with easy access to the amenities Louisville has to offer. Jonathan's correspondence was incredibly fast and kind. Without any hesitation, we would definitely stay here again!

Old Louisville is a historic district and neighborhood in central Louisville, Kentucky, USA. It is the third largest such district in the United States, and the largest preservation district featuring almost entirely Victorian architecture. It is also unique in that a majority of its structures are made of brick, and the neighborhood contains the highest concentration of residential homes with stained glass windows in US.

Traditional décor, well represented with historical ambiance in mind. This two bedroom one bath with full kitchen making you feel right at home. Close to downtown, the University of Louisville, close to hospitals. Great value. NOTE: This area is considered "Old Louisville." This is a historic district and is near downtown. Though there are a few restaurants you can walk to, expect to drive or take Uber or Lyft to most locations. Mass transit "Transit Authority of River City" (TARC) bus line is available, though weekends may have limited routes.
Old Louisville is a historic district and neighborhood in central Louisville, Kentucky, USA. It is the third largest such district in the United States, and the largest preservation district featuring almost entirely Victorian architecture. It is also unique in that a majority of its structures are made of brick, and the neighborhood contains the highest concentration of residential homes with stained glass windows in the U.S. Many of the buildings are in the Victorian-era styles of Romanesque, Queen Anne, Italianate, among others; and a large number of blocks have had few or no buildings razed. There are also several 20th-century buildings from 15 to 20 stories. Old Louisville consists of about 48 city blocks and is located north of the University of Louisville's main campus and south of Broadway and Downtown Louisville, in the central portion of the modern city. The neighborhood hosts the renowned St. James Court Art Show on the first weekend in October. Despite its name, Old Louisville was actually built as a suburb of Louisville starting in the 1870s, nearly a century after Louisville was founded. It was initially called the Southern Extension, and the name Old Louisville did not come until the 1960s. Old Louisville was initially home to some of Louisville's wealthiest residents, but saw a decline in the early and mid-20th century. Following revitalization efforts and gentrification, Old Louisville is currently home to a diverse population with a high concentration of students and young professionals.

  • Wow! This is exactly the kind of place we were looking for a cozy weekend getaway retreat. Check-in was super easy (Mary graciously allowed us to check-in a little early), and she went above and beyond in providing coffee and snacks for our stay. Neighborhood is quiet, great place to walk around and admire architecture. Also close to Highlands, another neighborhood we enjoyed (Quills and Carmichaels Bookstore). Would stay here again!

  • This place is charming as can be and was absolutely perfect for our home base while we were in Louisville for a wedding. Christopher and the team were attentive, helpful with local places to check out, and the lovely old house was delightful. Only thing that wasn't exactly as expected was that the bathroom didn't connect directly to our room, but at one door down the hall, it was still easy and relatively private. Kudos to the whole gang there, it was a real pleasure staying with you all.

    Matt2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was a very thoughtful Innkeeper and was there for anything I needed. He even saw that I was at the Inn on Thanksgiving and brought me a plate of traditional food. Great location, wonderful hospitality, and affordable - What more could you ask for? I will definitely stay here again.

  • What an amazing place to stay! Nancy was very hospitable and quick to respond. The house is in a great, historic location situated steps from Louisville's Central Park - with walking trails, playground, tennis courts and a community amphitheatre, and amazing local restaurants within walking distance. The house is a very cool traditional shotgun style house, completely renovated with a modern feel and comfortable touches and amenities in the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living area. Wish we could have stayed longer, and will definitely check with Nancy first the next time we're in Louisville!

  • We were 2 couples staying for a couple days in Louisville for some bourbon tasting. Nancy's place was well appointed even with snacks. Location was excellent on a quiet street in Old Louisville, a short drive to Fourth Street and downtown. When returning to Louisville we will definitely consider re-booking with Nancy.

  • Nancy's home is a wonderful gem in historic Louisville. The listing doesn't even mention the private outdoor space in the back yard! Her home was a comfortable fit for our group of 4. We invite you to come and stay at The Samuel Culbertson Mansion historic bed and breakfast inn on your next visit to Louisville. This Georgian Revival mansion is located in the heart of the Old Louisville National Historic District, near downtown Louisville, the University of Louisville and Churchill Downs. Pamper yourself with the opulence of the Gilded Age, and enjoy a piece of traditional Kentucky in this former home of a President of Churchill Downs and the "Two Little Knights of Kentucky.
The President's Room was the master bedroom of the mansion. We named it because the master of the house, Samuel Culbertson, was president of Churchill Downs during the 1920s and 1930s. In this room you can almost feel the history of the Kentucky Derby around you. Can you hear the call to the post? Will you sleep in this room and dream of the famous Kentucky Derby races of Citation, Galahadion, War Admiral, and Whirlaway? You wouldn't be the first! The room has a king-size full canopy bed, and a large private bath with a shower.
This neighborhood has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes in the country and is the third largest Historical Preservation District in the U.S. Built as a suburb in the 1870s, Old Louisville consists of nearly 48 city blocks of Victorian-era homes – considered the oldest, largest and most beautifully preserved homes in the city. Amid the rich architecture of this community, you’ll also find quaint bed and breakfast inns and excellent dining options, surrounded by the beauty of mature magnolia and oak trees.
  • WOW! What an awesome house, location and hosts! Rudy and Jason were so responsive and welcoming. The house is a historical masterpiece. I wish I had more time to explore all of the unique pieces. Centrally located, it was easy to get to so many different places around the city. Oh - the the breakfast was amazing. I look forward to staying at the Samuel Culbertson Mansion next time I am in Louisville!

    Jennifer2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! I don’t often write reviews. The building was amazing, the location was great but the service was outstanding. The best part of this experience is Rudy, the owner. He was warm, welcoming and happy to share local tips. His mansion was beautiful and filled with antiques, each with a story that Rudy was graciously willing to share. My wife and I were celebrating an anniversary and visiting several bourbon distilleries as well as Churchill Downs. One of the best bourbon stops we made was right in Rudy’s basement. He has an amazing bar complete with three juke boxes, a pool table and every high end bourbon you can think of. The home is over 120 years old and loaded with furniture and art twice as old. The pictures don’t do the place justice. I can’t say enough about this place. It was romantic, beautiful, convenient and interesting. One word of caution: Rudy has a very small pup that is quite protective, so if you’re going to give Rudy a hug and you’ll want to, look out for the little pup. Great job Rudy, we’ll be back!

This home is a cozy place that features the Queen Anne architectural style with beautiful woodwork and lots of space. Louisville is also known for hosting the annual Kentucky Derby as well as the St. James Art Fair along with many other attractions to enjoy.
Some of the beautiful features here include the impressive woodwork along with eight fireplaces (nonworking). There is an intimate foyer along with a living room, dining room, pool room, five bedrooms, eat-in kitchen, bar area, and two bathrooms. The first and second floors have about 5,000 square feet of space. The private room features a nonworking fireplace, small refrigerator, and also a microwave. The upstairs bathroom is shared and contains a large shower (no bathtub), and there is a shared half bath downstairs. We have never had a complaint about sharing the bathrooms.
When you step outside, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through this uniquely mesmerizing neighborhood and are only a short walking distance from Central Park and the famous St. James Court neighborhood.
  • You won't even believe how fantastic this house is. Pictures do not do it justice. I hesitate to say more, lest the house gets booked solid and we can't get in the next time we are in town. Let's just say that we both 'ooohed' and 'aahed' every time we went up the staircase. Janet is a wonderful hostess, and received us warmly. Our room was huge and beautiful. We both slept splendidly in the luxurious linens, and the bed is very comfortable. I was unsure about sharing a bathroom, but there was never an issue. Janet has a pretty glass jar filled with all of the soaps and shampoos you might need, as well as a kitchen stocked with coffee and tea. If you are VERY lucky, she might share some of her Kale Pesto. She sent some home with us, and we have been living on it for the last 2 days. (YUM!). We'd never been to 'Old' Louisville before, and were blown away by the Victorian mansions lining the streets. We have fallen in love with the neighborhood, to the point that we might move there at some point. There is an excellent place a few blocks away called The Tavern, which had one of the best burgers I've ever had. It had a funny name, and truffle oil was involved. Nuff said. Janet exemplified the kindness of Louisville. I've never been treated so nicely by an entire city before. Everyone is SO friendly, and the food... well, I had trouble fitting into the dress I brought with me to wear on our last day. As with all 5 star AirBnb experiences, we loved our stay, plan to go back as soon as we can, and consider Janet a new friend.

    Laurie2016-07-19T00:00:00Z

    Coert2016-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Janet is kind and helpful; her home is relaxing and comfortable. We'll be back!

    Katie2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay, walkable to 4th street live or campus! A wonderful host also!!!

    Abbie2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Janet was FANTASTIC! She was willing to accommodate an earlier check-in and was great with communication. The room was clean with a microwave, mini fridge and large flat screen tv. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the room had gigantic windows. She provided us with keys that locked the side/back door as well as our room. Had we stayed longer than one night, it would have been just as convenient and comfortable. It's about a 2 mile walk from the riverfront (which we made at peak hours, because why not??), but an $8 Uber ride. We had a lovely stay. THANKS for making our anniversary stay so comfortable, Janet!

    Rebecca2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Bed was super comfortable! Sheets were soooo soft!!

    Kathryn2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is just as described. Janet's home is beautiful and picturesque. We were extremely comfortable and enjoyed the scenery. The location was 10 minutes from everything we were doing and we went in many, different directions. Janet knows Louisville well and gave great directions to go along with great suggestions of seeing and doing in Louisville. We plan to come back as this trip is annual event for us.

    Cassandra2017-05-12T00:00:00Z

  • Glenda's space was exactly what we needed. It was clean, comfortable, and made us feel very relaxed. She was a wonderful host and provided several recommendations. I wish the weather was warmer during our visit so we could have enjoyed the outdoor space more! If we are ever in the area again we would love to stay here again!

  • Glenda & Faith are freaking AWESOME!!!! I needed a place last minute and they came through for me. If you are looking for a review to convince you to book then consider this your motivation. The property is WONDERFUL and the Tv is huge!! Everything you need to experience home away from home!! This whole weekend was a surprise for my wife and let's just say I scored a lot of brownie points booking with Glenda & Faith!!! Side note: Glenda & Faith beat my wife and I in spades on the first hand... They landed 10 books out the gate.. We never had a chance Lol!!

  • Outstanding place to stay while in Louisville. Great location. Close to everything. Beautiful yard and pool. Glenda was very kind and was very quick to respond to questions.

  • The carriage house was very quiet, beautifully designed and extremely clean. They went over and above making us feel welcome even went as far as giving us great eating suggestions. Thanks for a great time!

  • From start to finish, Glenda and Faith were fantastic hosts. The communication was excellent. Any question I had, Glenda answered immediately. A few weeks before our arrival, Glenda gave us tips and advice on what to see, where to eat and have the best time. She was extremely helpful and welcoming. We touched base an hour before my arrival and our check-in process was fast and efficient. The carriage house was perfect: clean, spacious, private and centrally located to everything in Louisville. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to stay here again when we come back to Louisville. I highly recommend staying here.

  • Glenda's place is beautiful and well appointed. The chaise couch and huge TV were great to come home to unwind to after a day exploring Louisville. Glenda's communication was excellent: timely, informative, and helpful. She even messaged to let us know the place was available for early check in the day we were checking in. She is a wonderful host and we're very grateful for our stay.

Built in 1882, our home maintains the original charm with 12-foot ceilings and original woodwork. You have access to the TV room, dining room, kitchen, and deck overlooking our private garden. We are close to the hottest areas in Louisville. This room is good for couples, solo adventurers, and pets. We have 2 dogs & a cat.

  • Jennifer and Joe were awesome hosts. Jennifer went above and beyond, walking us to the dog park to show us where it was and informing us of fun events and restaurants to go to in the area! The house was so cool with lots of character! Their style was awesome. The pets were friendly and there was even some breakfast items available which was such a pleasant surprise. 10/10 and we will be back!

  • Mike is a wonderful host and the house is absolutely beautiful. We were in town for the derby and Mike gave us some good advice about where to go and timing, etc. Check in and check out were easy and Mike was quick to respond to messages when he wasn't at the house. The bed is comfortable, the water is hot, the house is quiet. The location is perfect in an up and coming old neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks Mike!

  • Mike saved me when late into day another local airbnb host flaked out on a confirmed booking and was able to accommodate me when hotels were completely sold out. He was a great host, thank you!

    Mathew2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mike's home has been lovingly and tastefully restored. It was such a treat for us to stay in a space that was both luxuriously decorated, and comfortable, warm, and welcoming. I felt immediately at ease when I arrived and was sad to leave. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Louisville.

    Christine2017-04-09T00:00:00Z

Beautiful, bright carriage house in the center of the historic Old Louisville neighborhood. Just over 2 miles from Churchill Downs and moments from fantastic restaurants, museums and all the sights of the River City.
There is one queen bed in the 1st bedroom upstairs, one twin bed and a twin trundle bed in the 2nd bedroom upstairs and queen bed downstairs with a full bath.
The house is part of the largest collection of Victorian homes in the country. Please note, there is noise from trains, planes and other city sounds here in Old Louisville. If you are a light sleeper this may not be the spot for you.
  • The house was great. Happy to have a garage to not leave my motorcycle on the street. Kitchen had all we needed including coffee milk and eggs. I highly recommend staying here if you are in Louisville.

    Philippe2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a sweet little carriage house with so many thoughtful touches and very clean and well kept. It worked perfect for 6 of us adults staying in the Louisville area for a week. We would stay here again in a heartbeat if ever back in the area!

  • AWESOME PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Peter2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the old carriage house for our daughter’s graduation and it felt like home. The house was immaculate, comfortable, and welcoming. Debbie and Jonathan had flowers, coffee, and a few food items waiting for us. Jonathan was there right away to let us in and show us around. The neighborhood had some beautiful old homes, which made a nice walk one evening. The beds were very comfortable and the private garden was a special bonus. We would definitely stay again!

    Gwen2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
