Nestled in the quiet woods just north of Mt. Monadnock our cozy one bedroom apartment invites the outdoors in with peeks of the mountain through the trees. Sit out on your private deck and enjoy the view or stroll around the yard and pick a few blueberries in season. We welcome hikers, nature lovers, those visiting friends or family or just wanting to enjoy the area's beautiful scenery and many artistic venues. I like to think of it as a peaceful sanctuary that we'd like to share with you.
The guest apartment is part of our home but it is completely private and has it's own entry and private deck. So, you don't have to say hello whenever you come and go (unless you'd like to, of course:) If you have questions and either Sterling or I am there you are welcome to just knock on our door ( next door) and if we are gone, I am usually available to receive a text or call. You may just enjoy sitting out on the deck to get your fresh air and view but you are welcome to the yard and to stroll through the garden. We have plenty of parking so park where you finds a good space. We only advertise one bedroom and there is a long couch (not a pullout with a bed) in the living room that is pretty comfortable. I keep extra bedding in the bedroom closet. We also have a handy twin mattress in the entry closet to accommodate a child if needed. You are welcome to these . We also have a guestroom with its own patio down the stairs from the apartment. My family visits occasionally so I don't advertise it but if you need another queen bed you can let me know and, if it is available, you are welcome. (We charge an extra $50 a night for that.) If you like to cook the kitchen has the basics: stove, refrigerator, utensils, a few condiments and spices. Let me know if you need anything you can't see there. The apartment has a coffee station. You can have the option of the Kuerig if you are in a hurry for coffee in the morning (like me) or there is a coffee maker so that you can make yourself a pot. I usually try to have eggs and something baked on hand so you don't have to rush off for breakfast. I hope you can relax and enjoy your stay!
When we first moved here over 30 years ago I wasn't sure I could handle the quiet, town girl that I was. But I love it and, after a busy day, it is such a peaceful place to come back to. My favorite spot in the summertime is on the deck for dinner. The apartment has it's own and I think most guests feel the same way. There are lots of walkers who enjoy this road and cars hauling boats but, even after all these years, it remains a peaceful and quiet spot. Just a mile and a half down the road is Dublin Lake and Stone Pond is about that distance in the other direction. Howe Reservoir is nearby as well. Bring your kayak and watch the sunset from the middle of the lake and enjoy a spectacular view of the mountain. If you are a hiker or even an aspiring one we are not too far from trails up Mt. Monadnock and the Sunapee Trail. In the winter there are lots of cross country or snow shoe trails not far from us. Friendly Farm is a great place for children and it's just a 6 minute drive away. The towns around us have lots of activities too numerous to list but we are centrally located to the best the area has to offer... Peterborough Players, Apple Hill Chamber Music (where you can sit outside and enjoy a picnic while being serenaded,) Art Shows, Museums, Concerts, Great Restaurants and Shopping. I try to keep local information up to date and on your coffee table.
  • This fully-equipped in-law apartment sets the bar high. It is beautiful and immaculate. The little mud room sign politely requests, “Take off your shoes and stay a while.” The main room has a sitting area, a small dining table, and an elegant kitchen stocked with coffee and two coffee makers, a dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, and everything needed to prepare meals. You have a choice of eating inside, or on the private deck overlooking the forest toward Mount Monadnock. The large bedroom was quiet, with a with a window looking out to the forest and birds. The mattress is evidently high-end, feeling firm and soft at the same time. Bathroom and shower are delightful, and thoughtfully designed. Linda was the perfect host, answering our questions quickly, and going out of her way to make sure we were comfortable.

  • Linda is a wonderful host! Beautiful views, super clean, nice quiet neighborhood and all of the amenities you'd need for a stay away from home! My kids were especially excited for the fresh cookies and homemade bread waiting for us when we arrived! Definitely recommended!

  • Very charming and private mother in law suite, with lots of character and amenities. Linda was so pleasant and great at communicating, and left us fresh bread and delicious cookies to boot (along with even more snacks and drinks in the fridge). Loved the space and our stay, can't recommend it enough!!

  • Brenda is a truly great host.she is a wonderful person, who really cares about your comfort, and offers a lovely place to stay.

    Momiji2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our host very easy to work with. They made it easy when we were so late to arrive. We were very comfortable, Cindy

    Cindy2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda was very sweet, but has a lot of little notes everywhere. This kind of makes the stay feel a little nit picky. My family and I are very quiet, respectful people and always clean up after ourselves. It was a little bazaar to get a note to take our beer bottles/trash with us when we leave. Very strange. We wouldn't want to take garbage in our car on a 3 hour ride home. Aside from the notes everywhere, the location ended up being perfect distance from our venue! If you are going with multiple people, try to flip a coin to see who gets the soft comfy bed, because the rest are kind of uncomfortable. Very cute space, but I think its probably more for an older crowd. We do appreciate the flexibility with late check in though!

    Cassie2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is a fantastic host, so helpful and hospitable and the area is absolutely beautiful. The space is perfect and comfy. If we decide to go back to visit the area, we'd definitely stay there again.

    Jeff2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is a very accommodating host, my check in and stay was seamless. Tremendous value and comfortable environment.

    Mario2017-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda's place was nice and she was very helpful. She suggested a drive for us the next day that was amazing. We wouldn't have known about that without her help. She also went out of her way to help us find a channel so we could watch a MLB playoff game. She got on the phone with the cable company to sort it out for us.

    Julie2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is an ok space for unrelated, and somewhat short singles who don't care about privacy. Perfect try adequate for a quick trip.

    Caroline2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, super clean, spacious room, courteous host. Moreover, Brenda was comfortable letting me park my truck on her lawn which is a big deal for lawn lovers, thanks Brenda. Much appreciated. Will definitely recommend this place. Also, I met someone who knows Troy and Keene inside-out 😊

My place is close to Keene, NH, Fitzwilliam Inn, Mount Monadnock, Rhododendron State Park. You’ll love my place because of The calm surroundings, shade and sunshine ease of access to everything in the Monadnock Region. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). Just to be clear the beach is across the road, (which is about 10' wide) and slightly to the left of my house.
Inside the cottage is basically a one bedroom cottage with a large Sunroom and common Living Room/Kitchen/Dinning/Great Room. There are full sized pull out sofas' in the Sunroom and Living Room. The Sunroom offers as much privacy as a Bedroom; the Living Room does not. There's a deck that wraps around the house and a patio in the backyard. There is also an out door shower off the patio so you can shower off after coming up from the beech and a large fireplace with patio in the side yard.
Fitzwilliam New Hampshire is the quintessential New England town and was featured as such many years ago on the Today Show! The Fitzwilliam Inn is a short drive, (@ 3 minutes), down the road and has an excellent Dinning Room and Bar. Mount Monadnock is about 15 minutes away and is the second most hiked mountain in the world I am told. Keene, New Hampshire is about a 15-20 minute drive north on NH Route 12 and offers a full set of conveniences for shopping, dinning and entertainment.

    Nicole2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • this place was awesome! very secluded, very new england! the best part of the whole weekend was just sitting on the deck relaxing while hearing the creek right next to us! the little beach was right in front of the house which was very nice to go swimming and kayaking !!! the house was “unplugged” which was neat to have a weekend with out phones or wifi! Dick was a great host! provided plenty of directions, he was easy to get a hold of as well! would 10/10 rent again from dick!! one tip for future renters, very buggy! So pack bug spray!!

    Maria2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely perfect for what we need during our trip. I did not realise about the no wifi or TV until we arrived but the Vinyl collection and beautiful scenery meant we did not miss it one bit. Dick's cottage was my parents favourite accommodation during our whole trip :)

  • Linda was very sweet and quick to respond to my questions. Her place is wicked clean and convenient.

    Marina2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was such a great host! The house is super cute, and very comfortable. We hiked Mt. Monadnock and it was great to find a place only 10 mins away where we could have a shower and collapse in a comfy bed after a long day hiking. The local restaurant Emma’s was a 5 minute drive away and has great food, too. And Luna the Samoyed puppy is such a fun and energetic dog! Luna was leashed on the back porch, so she was out of the way if someone doesn’t like dogs (and there was zero dog hair in the house) but for us it was awesome to meet such a fun and fluffy friend. Linda had great recommendations for the local area and other hikes, and was really welcoming and easy to communicate with in setting up our booking. Next time we’re back in the area (and we’re definitely hiking Mt. Monadnock again!) we’ll be sure to book again.

    Jeff2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this space. Very clean which I loved. The bed was super comfortable. Loved having the separate door to shared bathroom and being able to open the windows and feel the cool fall air. Quiet and peaceful home that helped my husband sleep the entire night before a local marathon. We got finger food at Market Basket then ate a picnic at the dock on the Franklin Pierce campus.

    Deborah2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Everything as described! My reason for visiting was to attend a wedding at Hidden Hills - great location for that(5 min.) as well as surrounding hills for hiking etc. Linda was spot on with communication.

    Erik2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a great spot! The perfect place to crash after hiking Mt. Monadnock. The drive from the mountain was about 20 minutes, and as soon as I pulled into the neighborhood I felt at home. Such a cute place. Linda was a great host, responded quickly, and was very hospitable. I would recommend staying here for all the hikes in the surrounding area!

    Alex2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Good all-around place to stay. It was a cost-friendly, clean, and quiet space with a host who was great at providing basic amenities and very communicative.

  • Great location to so many mountains- very comfortable bed- highly recommended!!

  • Linda is a wonderful host with a beautiful home. She is great with assisting with local attractions if you are unfamiliar with the area. If you are there during the warm weather, please note she does not have AC. There is a nice window fan to help move the air around. The bed is comfortable and the shower has great pressure! I was able to utilize the kitchen to make some breakfast. It was the perfect location for my needs.

Come visit New Hampshire during foliage season! Lovely three bedroom cottage sits right on the east side of Laurel Lake. Large dock perfect for swimming, boating & fishing. This fully furnished, year round cottage sleeps 4 and has a full bath with a shower downstairs and a half bath upstairs. Stacking washer/dryer unit. The kitchen is complete with a microwave & dishwasher. Bed linens and towels provided. Free Wi-Fi. 2 kayaks and a canoe available for guest use. Fully insulated and heated.
The downstairs is entirely open concept with an attached full bathroom. An island in the kitchen has two wooden bar stools for sitting and snacking or visiting with the cook. Even from the kitchen sink you have a nice view of the lake. Then there is a living room area, desk area and dining area as you move through the first floor towards the lake. You can walk right out the back sliding glass door and find yourself steps away from the water. You may even spot (or hear) a loon. The sunsets are beautiful here. Upstairs is split into three bedrooms and a 1/2 bathroom. The master bedroom is approximately 18' x10' with a queen bed and two windows facing the lake. The other two bedrooms are both approximately 10' by 10' and each has a twin bed. This is NOT one of those newly built "mega-mansions". The cottage was built around 1940 and although it has had some tasteful updates, it still has that rustic, country charm. NOTE: I'll admit the exterior could use a fresh coat of paint, however my painter is way behind schedule due to the wet weather last year and this spring. Laurel Lake is a clear spring fed lake covering about 155 acres and has a maximum depth of about 49 feet. The lake contains Rainbow and Brown Trout, small mouth Bass as well as perch and a variety of other panfish. The quality of the water rates it among the top lakes in the state.
This historic town was incorporated in 1773. Fitzwilliam's picturesque common, together with twelve antique houses that surround it, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. If you enjoy hiking, check out Rhododendron State Park or the Cheshire Rail Trail. Also we aren't far from Mount Monadnock. (One of the two most hiked mountains in the world – the other is Mt. Fuji in Japan!) 15 minutes away from Franklin Pierce University. 30 minutes away from Keene State College. 20 minutes away from Mount Monadnock State Park 1hr 45min to minutes to Boston Logan International Airport (depending on traffic). 1hr 45min to Bradley International Airport. 1hr 15min to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
  • We loved our stay on the lake. It is rustic, quaint, and clean. We love be able to swim right out the back door and take our coffee by the lake in the morning. The sunsets were beautiful too. James was a great host and our dog loved swimming in the lake too. Easy to get to Keene and hiking. Brattleboro is not to far either.

    Cathie And Chris2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel Lake and the cottage on the Lake was so relaxing. 3 nice size bedrooms. Amazing cooking amenities. The view of the Lake with the floating devices James provides are tons of fun. We also had the pleasure of getting fishing licenses. Non- resident $38 @Walmart in Keene for 7 days. Only caught small bass had to release though the guys had lots of enjoyment from fishing. James was a phenomenal host. Walked us through items and very kind. We were able to bbq, make pancakes etc... The house is nice though remember it is a cottage (that was the best part for us), lots of rustic charm. Also yes it may need to be painted on the outside, but seriously it is So So very worth the stay! Would recommend to anyone over and over again.

    Heidi2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place has it all. A beautiful lake right behind the house, lots of floaties, life jackets, a canoe and kayaks, ample amount of towels, nice host that answers you within minutes, clean bedroom and beds, etc. The list goes on and on. Honestly, we can't wait to come back here

    Connie2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view!! There are canoes and kayaks for your use, as well as a grill and picnic table! Very spacious, and warm environment!

  • James was a wonderful host. He met us right away and showed us how everything worked. When we showed up with two additional guests, James was super accommodating and brought us clean linens and comforters right away. The cabin has all the equipment you can think of to have fun on the lake. Beautiful spot to relax and spend quality vacation time with family and friends. I wouldn’t hesitate to look at the cabin’s availability for another lakeside visit.

  • Amazing weekend at this cabin. The location right on the water was phenomenal and made water sports so easy. The views were also awesome. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking including tons of space.

    Blaise2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin that had excellent amenities and felt very private. The lake was very clean and provided a gorgeous view every day. Your own dock to the lake with tons of fun floaties and canoe/kayaks to use. House was very clean, had everything you could need, and was comfortable. Dog friendly was a huge plus. James was very kind, easy to communicate with and helpful. We had an excellent stay and definitely recommended! Will return for another lake get away.

The Sugar Bush Cabin is a tiny house at the edge of a pasture with an amazing view of Mt. Monadnock and the surrounding countryside. Overlooking a working farm with cows grazing in the pastures leading up to the cabin. Surrounded by maple trees, the cabin is tiny, with room for 3 to sleep comfortably with a double bed below and a single bed up in the loft. ☆THERE IS NO ELECTRICITY OR HEAT IN THE CABIN☆ The magic is the location, the surrounding woods and fields are so peaceful and meditative.
The cabin is a great place to get cozy, to sit and read, draw or sketch or simply just be. ▪▪THERE IS NO HEAT OR RUNNING WATER IN THE CABIN. THE KITCHEN AND BATHROOM FACILITIES ARE A 5 MINUTE WALK DOWN TO THE FARMYARD▪▪
The cabin is on a working dairy farm off of a dirt road in the countryside. It is only a 5 minute drive into town, 15 minutes to Keene. Very accessible and well maintained roads although a bit bumpy so slow down and enjoy the drive up. Easy to get to from just about anywhere and so relaxing and rejuvenating once you land.
  • Wonderful host. Very easy to communicate with. Cabin is a little hard to find in the dark- so if you can get there during day light! There is an electric pasture fence used for the cows you walk along. (Keep that in mind if you are walking in the dark.) Bathroom is a bit far away if you need to go at night. Be prepared for a camping experience! It’s a wonderful view and a rustic feel- there is no electricity (no solar either) so Bring a flashlight or two- and the bed is an air mattress. It was ok, but we wish we had known ahead of time as it was our anniversary and were not expecting a “camping” style experience staying in this tiny home. If your visiting in colder weather, defiantly bring extra blankets or even a sleeping bag. The view was stunning and we had a wonderful view of the stars- easy to find the address with gps but signage would be very well appreciated as to where to park and how to walk exactly up to the cabin!

  • Martha's place is divine! The tiny house is tiny and cozy, nestled in a beautiful little clearing at the edge of the farm. Plenty of privacy and beautiful views and friendly cows. And a lake! The milkhouse was nearby enough to be convenient and far away enough to feel a bit like camping. Went on a lovely hike nearby--the place is surrounded by state parks! Highly recommend.

Our cozy guest house is perfect for a romantic get away or quiet retreat. We invite you to leave the hustle of the city & enjoy a relaxed pace surrounded by nature. Fitzwilliam is a quaint town, & year round activities abound. Enjoy Laurel Lake, Rhodedendron State Park & Mt Monadnock. It is great for walking, biking or snowmobiling & antiquing in the winter. We also provide a toxic free space with dōTERRA Natural Solutions, restful sleep with serenity Diffused. Ask about Aroma Touch Experience
Imagine stepping back in time to a simpler, more relaxing pace. Surrounded by nature, we invite you to be our guest in our cozy guest house located on a farm established in 1820 in historic Fitzwilliam. This is a romantic place for couples to unwind and reconnect. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. We recently added a propane stove which keeps the cabin toasty all the time. You can meander along the trail on our property or hike Mount Monadnock if you'd like more of a challenge. We escaped the hustle of city living three years ago and fell in love with this property. While you're away we want our guest house to feel like your home. Sleeping We know when you're away from home you want to sleep well and a really comfortable bed, is important. In fact some guests have said its the most comfortable airbnb bed they've ever slept in! Bathing The bathroom is adjacent to the bed and has shower, toilet and sink. Eating There is a kitchen area where you can prepare meals. It has storage for food, a fridge, toaster oven, electric skillet to enjoy farm fresh eggs or blueberry pancakes and Kurig coffee machine. In the warmer months, you can use the BBQ and enjoy eating al fresco in your own private area behind the guest house and warm yourself by the fire pit. There isn't a kitchen sink, but there is an enamel basin for doing dishes, (use water from bathroom sink). We also recommend Emma's Pub in Rindge, Pedro Fina in Marlborough, Pickety Place in Mason. While you may be coming to unwind, we have included a TV and DVD player if you'd like to watch a movie. Bring your favorite book and relax in the rocking chair. Internet service isn't like in the city so we invite you to enjoy a quieter pace where you leave technology behind and enjoy a retreat of peacefulness The guest house is located just over a mile from the village center of the historic town of Fitzwilliam. We are 88 miles from Boston Logan Airport and 55 miles from Manchester.
Founded in 1764, Fitzwilliam remains almost untouched, the village common is like a Christmas card from days gone by with a steepled town hall and houses that date back to the 1850s. The town is home to pristine Laurel Lake, a spring fed lake for summer swimming, kayaking and fishing and Rhodendron State Park is a must see especially in July when it is in full bloom. Here is a link to a video on the park. (URL HIDDEN) Mount Mondanock is five miles away in Jaffrey - it's the most climbed mountain in the world! Or gap mountain is an easier climb about ten minutes away on the way to Troy The recreational Cheshire railroad trail runs behind the property for hiking and cross country skiing. For outdoor enthusiasts there are plenty of things to do from downhill skiing cross country skiing and hiking Fitzwilliam has been dubbed the antiques mecca of the Southwestern New Hampshire as there are several antique shops in town including Bloomin 'Antiques, Old Glory Antiques, and our our store Covey House that also offers handcrafted gift items from over 25 artisans. Plumpapparel offers clothing and accessories for the fuller figure and Feather Herb Farm has an eclectic mix of old and new in luring clothing. If you plan to pick up groceries Market basket and Hannafords are six miles away in Rindge We are ten minute drive from Franklin Pierce university and twenty minutes from Keene State University.

  • This was the perfect spot for our little weekend getaway. We wanted to climb Mt Monadnock and this cottage was the perfect location for us to access it. We also checked out Keene and went across the state line to Brattleboro VT. The cottage was adorable and very clean and well kept. Will definitely stay with Allan and Clare again if we are ever in the area!

  • Country cabin centrally located to antique shops and restaurants. Cozy!

    Donna2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a small, but very clean and nicely decorated cabin. Clare and Alan are very friendly hosts who quickly respond to requests. They had many recommendations of things to do in the area. The setting is beautiful and it is close to several small towns and natural areas. We enjoyed our stay very much; beware though - WIFI is very spotty. It's better not to expect to use it from the cabin.

    Glen2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely time staying at the cottage, there were plenty of very soft blankets to keep us warm as well as a beautiful gas fire place. Allan welcomed us and showed us the beautiful cozy cottage where we spent a blissfully quiet cozy night. It was a very warm welcoming experience with wonderful hosts.

  • Awesome getaway, very quiet, peaceful, cozy. I'll be back again in summer since it was full of snow, we want to see different side of the nature.

  • Allan & Clare were amazingly hospitable, and the cabin was self-sufficient, cozy, and comfortable. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time at nearby Lake Tully and then chatting with Allan & Clare and being at the cabin was the perfect way to relax. I look forward to staying here again!

Our one bedroom guest apartment is located at the base of Mount Monadnock and situated amidst 4.8 acres of quiet wilderness. Although the apartment is part of our home, it is completely private. In addition to all of our amenities, we are conveniently close to Keene and Peterborough.
Franklin Pierce University, Keene State College and Antioch are nearby. We are within 1 to 3 miles of numerous hiking trails on Monadnock and Gap mountains, and 3 miles from the Shattuck Golf Course. Guests have expressed appreciation of the wood pellet stove during the colder months, as well as the welcome basket prepared by Michelle. Guests have also remarked at how spacious The Fitz feels.
  • Absolutely adorable spot. Felt right at home. The little touches made it special. Looking forward to staying again.

  • Great place! Everything was clean and the bed was soo comfortable. Kenneth was very thoughtful and even mailed me some paperwork I left for my rental car.

    Jill2019-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect taste of the country side in the small town of Jaffery. The house had everything that we needed. We even stayed in a few nights and cooked, and everything we needed was available. The space was immaculate, very homely, and comfortable. We would definitely stay again when in the area.

    Stephanee2018-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth’s place is amazing. His garden is as beautiful as English gardens and the apartment is spacious and quiet. Kenneth and his family left us fresh baked scones and were extremely gracious in welcoming us. We’d love to come back and hike Monadnock again. Thanks Kenneth!

    Connor2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! My wife and I found the place to be spacious and cozy at the same time, and appreciated that we could bring our dog. The wood pellet stove made for a comfortable night even as temperatures dropped into the 30s. The famous (per other reviews) welcome basket was very thoughtful; we incorporated some of the goodies into a quick breakfast, which saved time. We arrived in the evening and had to leave early the next morning, so there wasn't time to meet Kenneth in person, but his communications via airbnb messaging and texts were helpful and prompt. Highly recommended.

    Jeff2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth’s place is cozy, very comfortable and sparkling clean. The homemade scones are delicious and Kenneth is a super responsive host!

    Jessica2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely stay. They had everything we needed and provided suggestions to local eateries. Definitely recommend staying here!

    Sasha2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful home. Outstanding hospitality. Treats in a welcome basket. Coffee & scones for breakfast. We planned a last minute hike to celebrate our anniversary and feel so lucky that Kenneth's place was available. Gorgeous setting near the mountain, flowers in the garden can see out of the windows, huge apartment with adorable kitchen area and a claw foot bathtub - always wanted to try one out!!! Highly recommend.

This Cozy camper is on our back yard right next to the Bike/Walk trail (Rails to Trails). Private little kitchen with stove and oven, small bathroom and dining room table, storage cabinets... and a sofa bed. And since our house is just a few feet away we will always be available if there is anything you need. It has cold/hot water, heat and WIFI is available but it isn't the greatest, since this is a rural area.
  • RV enthusiasts will appreciate this little camper. It’s perfect for a New Hampshire vacation—affordable, clean and comfy. Located at the end of Matthew’s backyard, it’s just steps from an awesome hiking/biking path. The Cathedral of the Pines and Kimballs Farm are minutes away and there’s a free public beach on Contoocook Lake. Matthew was very friendly and easy to communicate with. We plan on staying there again the next time we are in the area.

Peep Willow Farm is a working sport-horse farm and licensed Bed and Breakfast set in picturesque Marlborough New Hampshire. Enjoy the gorgeous views and New England Charm. Lots of attractions close by. It's a perfect place to stay a few days for work, relax and recharge, or for a romantic weekend getaway.
Set in a New England Farmhouse on a working sport-horse farm. Great for animal lovers!
We live in a classic New England farmhouse set in New Hampshires rolling hills. The setting is rural, but we are a 10 minute drive from downtown Keene (shops, bars)
  • Rolling hills, horses, a friendly German shepherd - nice quarters.

    Patrick2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was excellent. Friendly hosts, great house, friendly dog, beautiful location.

    Nathan2018-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Peep Willow is a bucolic setting with horses, very scenic and quiet. Noel was very warm and made us feel right at home. The only caveats are that the room was a bit warm (we stayed during a bit of a heat wave) with no AC and one window for ventilation. Although guests have full access to the common areas be aware that most of the rooms shown in the photos are shared spaces, including the bathroom, kitchen and living room. Apart from that the location is lovely and the check in and check out went smoothly. And if you love horses it can’t be beat.

    Christopher2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • I walked out within 10 minutes of walking in. I would never consider staying here.

    Beth2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was my 2nd stay at Peep Willow's and it gets better each time. The eggs that Noel made for us were the real deal - farm fresh and the environment is restful and a paradise for animal lovers. We'll be back. :)

    Vicente2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • My stay was pleasant and quite comfortable. Noel was very friendly and has some very interesting stories to share. She was very helpful and even made breakfast before I got back onto the road. The property is beautiful and not to out of the way. Would certainly recommend.

    Devang2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • First and foremost, the host, Noel couldn’t have been a nicer person. She showed us around the farm, allowed us to pet and hangout with the horses and made us a very generous and great breakfasts each morning. She is fantastic, a great host, and a generous person and will go out of her way to make you feel at home. As far as the room and amenities goes, I was a little disappointed with the room. The bed was two twins pushed together, the room was very warm, the sheets were ripped, the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest and the shower is hard to climb in an out of because of the curtain. There are also accommodations for six people and for one bathroom. We also did not have a tv in our room.

    Michael2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Welcoming host, and beautiful property, but the house isn’t fit for guests. It’s rundown, dirty, cluttered, and smells bad. I just couldn’t relax with the musty bedding and towels, bugs, dog hair, mold, cobwebs, piled up dirty dishes, dust and dirt.

Nostalgic. Historic. Authentic. If you listen carefully, you might hear the bell of the local boxing ring that stood here in 1820. Over a century later, the ring is now the Cheshire Rail Suite, a modern and well-equipped apartment to make your vacation notable. In the heart of Troy, you'll enjoy hiking, biking, snowmobiling, or simply taking in the local views. Every season has something new, and we can't wait for you to experience everything we love about New Hampshire.
Guests will enjoy a private apartment complete with modern-day amenities including Internet access, washer, dryer, a fully outfitted kitchen, Smart TV, full bath, adjacent parking, and a patio overlooking the garden. The apartment is equipped with both heat and air conditioning to accommodate any season.
From the back door, a winding path leads you to the Cheshire Rail Trail and the start of your unique adventure. Guests can walk to the center of Troy, discover quiet fishing spots and swimming holes, or continue along the trail for a woodland stroll. Mount Monadnock, just a few minutes from Troy, is often cited as the second most hiked mountain in the world, second only to Mount Fuji. On a clear day, it is possible to see Boston from the summit. From our experience, hiking Mount Monadnock takes roughly 3 or 4 hours to complete and is appropriate for hikers aged 10+. For a more relaxed hiking experience or younger families, Gap Mountain is situated right in Troy. The peak of Gap Mountain is an excellent spot for a picnic and a picturesque view of Mount Monadnock. If you climb Gap Mountain in the late summer, you can enjoy freshly picked blueberries to round off your hike. During the winter months, guests can snowmobile along the rail trail, go snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or ice-skating. Alpine skiing and tubing are within driving distance at Crotched Mountain and Granite Gorge. In the evenings, the historic Colonial Theatre in Keene hosts a bevy of performances, comedy acts, classic and contemporary movies, concerts, and dance troupes. For a more refined experience that's worth the drive, adults can enjoy local breweries, wineries, and distilleries, or visit L. A. Burdick's in Walpole for specialty chocolates and fine dining. Our favorite local haunts include: The Inn at East Hill Farm, where families can visit the animals on the farm and even take horseback riding lessons. Monadnock Berries is home to a variety of fruits, including blueberries, raspberries, currants, and gooseberries. On-site is the Granite Roots brewery, where you can enjoy a refreshing brew after an afternoon of berry picking. Alyson's Orchard is one of our Fall favorites. Activities include apple picking, hayrides, or sampling the flavors of New England with fresh cider and apple pie.

The Carriage House is located on a working farm in the hills of southern New Hampshire. A peaceful spot on a back road, away from the hustle and bustle but only a short drive to several surrounding towns. A great place to go to relax and breathe in the country air or take a walk or bike ride down the country roads. There are cows in the pastures and tractors ambling about.
The whole house is rented to guests and possibly art studio space if needed. There is a large deck and a gazebo across the dirt road and plenty of outdoor wandering space.

Whether you're a couple (or two couples) looking for a romantic retreat, or a business traveler in need of a short term rental, or a family simply longing to get away, our spacious, sun filled apartment will help you relax & unwind. This 2nd floor apartment has private entrance, & overlooks the beautiful village green in historic Fitzwilliam. This is the gateway to the Monadnock region, where nature surrounds you in all of its magnificence. Good WiFi!
Step back in time to enjoy the second floor of the historic E Parker building, built in 1850. It overlooks Fitzwilliam's village green which is as picturesque as a postcard from days gone by. The village green is home to the strawberry festival, summer concerts, the annual antique show, flea market and the other village events. The private apartment is above Covey House, our store that sells home and garden decor, and we teach classes about dōTERRA essential oils and natural solutions for health. There is a private entrance to the left of the building and parking at the rear. The barn is on the national historic register and the back garden is yours to relax in, or dine alfresco. This apartment is huge and really bright. It is listed a three bedroom and comfortably sleeps a family of five, or two couples could comfortable stay. There is a large eat in kitchen with propane stove, full size fridge, microwave, crock pot, coffee machine, electric kettle, toaster, dishes, pans, glasses and cutlery. We do not provide food. The spacious sunlit living room is the perfect place to relax. You can watch a movie on the DVD, snuggle up in the comfortable chair and read a book or work on a jigsaw puzzle or color at the checkerboard table. There is also wifi available. The dining room is huge and is perfect for more formal dinner setting. The master bedroom has the most comfortable queen sized bed and it was hand crafted in Vermont. It has a dresser, reading nook and closet. It overlooks the village green. In the summer there is a window ac in the room. The second bedroom has a full size bed, dresser and a large closet. In the summer there is a window ac in the room. We did add a twin bed to a small room but it is not technically a bedroom, it’s more for convenience for those that may need extra sleeping accommodation. The bathroom is off the kitchen and has a tub with shower. We provide plush towels and shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. There is a vanity area outside the bathroom with a hairdryer. There is also an ironing board and iron if you need it. Laundry facilities are available for an additional charge of $5 per load (washer and dryer) This is a little piece of history, we hope to one day update the kitchen and bathroom but until then it has old charm and function rather than state of the art modern design. We hope you'll find it to be a home away from home. If you’d like to experience essential oils, we’ve left a diffuser in the living room with wild orange that will reduce stress and help you enjoy your stay. Clare is available for questions too.

  • The apartment was very spacious and full of sunlight! The beds & linens were soft & very comfy. Because of the location there is spotty cell service, you will want to review the location and pictures of the place before driving over to make your check-in easier. There is WiFi at the apartment so you’ll have cell service and access to Netflix & Roku. Clare & Allan were great hosts and were willing to assist us when we got lost.

  • Clare and Allen are just wonderful people and don't just offer a place to stay but offer the New England experience.Their hospitality couldn't be better. They actually helped us with our bags, showed us around and took the time to bring us some movies to watch. The place was just as described. Charming, quiet and private. Excited to go back and stay again.

  • Clare and Allen were wonderful, warm and friendly hosts! The apartment was perfectly situated for us, as we were in town to attend a college graduation at nearby Franklin Pierce University. The apartment is much more spacious than it looks in the pictures and 5 adults were very comfortable there. Fitzwilliam is a charming New England village with much to offer!

    Kathleen2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for 4 of us who were attending Friday and Saturday wedding activities in nearby Troy. Other reviews were very accurate - a charming place that was bigger than expected and did not lack any amenities. Thank you, Clare!

    Matthew2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great convenient location for the area. Large space with plenty of room for family. Clare and Allan were flexible and accommodating with our very late arrival time.

    Linda2018-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay. Great, old apartment with lots of charm on the upper floor of a classic, old, New England house. Clare’s store is on the first floor, so it’s extra quiet and private in the evenings. Fitzwilliam is a nice little town. Not much there, but only 25 minutes from either Peterborough or Keene. This worked out perfectly for a 30th wedding anniversary get away and Clare and Allan were super hosts. We’d highly recommend.

Set in a New England Farmhouse on a working sport-horse farm. Great for animal lovers!
We live in a classic New England farmhouse set in New Hampshires rolling hills. The setting is rural, but we are a 10 minute drive from downtown Keene (shops, bars)
  • I enjoyed my weekend at Peepwillow B&B. It was a unique experience to be able to spend time on a horse farm. The room in which I stayed was spacious and clean and I had a nice view of the stable and fields. Noel is a great host and clearly wants to make her guests comfortable and to feel welcomed. Great value overall!

  • This is a great place to stay and relax. It's not a fancy place but simple and down to earth. There was such a friendly atmosphere as we shared in the chores, food, and great conversation.

  • Farm house! Nice and quiet.

    Tae Woo2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Noel is the host and she's very laid back and loves good conversation. It's a horse farm, so not a super spiffy hotel-like space. But it's comfortable and clean enough. Guest space is fine, comfortable beds, nice shared bath. Beautiful surroundings, especially if you like horses! Gabby the German Shepherd greets everyone with a loud barking announcement, but then just wants to be petted. The guest rooms are upstairs and there is a chair lift for you or your luggage if you need it. I really had a good time there.

    Roberta2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Neat and clean. Very private and the views are amazing!

    Sarah2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Just down the road from the toll rd trail for a wonderful hike. I loved seeing the horses around the property. Host is very friendly.

    Eugene2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Peeps Willow's place is very nice, and very quite. The horses are beautiful to see, and the view is great too! Also they know some great spots nearby for food.

  • Quaint room on a beautiful farm. Noel was very kind and helpful.

A light-filled bedroom in a 1923 Cape Cottage close to Jaffrey Central. The room has neutral , modern decor and is newly furnished with a very comfy bed, a vintage dresser, nightstands, clothes rail, luggage holder, and a chair, a lovely space for relaxing in after days exploring the area. The room has blinds and blackout/noise reducing curtains to ensure a good nights sleep and an air conditioning unit. Your private bathroom is opposite the room. Light breakfasts are provided.
We bought our cottage in October 2017 and have been updating, redecorating and turning it into a warm and welcoming home ever since, possessing plenty of character and charm, that we love to share with visitors. We’ve also improved the grounds, adding a fire-pit and vegetable garden in 2018, and a stunning new terrace this spring. The drive way has been newly paved too. There’s plenty of space for parking and room to store equipment if you're visiting for the outdoor activities in the region. We live in a lovely, safe, rural community with access to great towns like Keene and Peterborough.
1.5 miles from Downtown Jaffrey and 600 yards away from the beautiful Jaffrey Center village, with it's Inn, historic buildings and greens, we’re ideally situated close to Mt Monadnock HQ and the Halfway House trail head, Shattuck Golf Course, Keene State, and Franklin Pierce University as well as several local events/wedding venues. Picturesque traditional New England small towns surround us, including Peterborough, Dublin, Troy and Harrisville, as well as many State Parks great for hiking, and beautiful ponds/lakes that are fabulous for swimming and kayaking in the summer. Whilst in the winter you can snow-shoe, cross-country ski, downhill ski, snow-mobile, ice fish and even ice skate on the ponds. We’re surrounded by great eateries, from small family run diners to fancy restaurants and everything in between, we can give you loads of recommendations, including the Kimball Farm, famous for its ice cream.
  • Great spot for visiting Southern NH. Mike & Marina where very hospitable and knowledgeable of the area. There dog Bella was very loving and well behaved. The bed room was nicely decorated with a comfortable mattress & pillows. The private bath was roomy and fully stocked with everything we needed. There where lots of great places in the home and yard to relax & chill.

  • Highly recommended for the getaway trips... The place is cozy and clean with stylish decorations. Mike and Marina are the best hosts we could ever ask for. They are very warm hearted and willing to help, just like your old friends. They offered help without hesitation after they heard we got lost in the dark, brought us back and warmly comforted us with hot beverages. It was an unforgettable experience...Will definitely visit back again.

  • This home, our room, and our hosts, Marina and Mike were fantastic! Their description is very accurate in every sentence: a stylish, charming and comfortable home. Very clean, thoughtfully well-appointed. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was sparkling clean also. They've provided all the amenities and details you want. The renovations they have made to the house are smart, thoughtful and beautiful. The location is great- close to Peterborough, Keene, craft breweries, restaurants and pond and lakes for paddling. Quiet and safe area. Marina and Mike are the definition of hospitality: welcoming, informative, friendly and respectful. They were so delightful that we shared a cocktail with them on the patio before our dinner in Peterborough. And let's not forget Bella; a sturdy and sweet dog! We felt very comfortable here and will definitely be back. Truly a 5 star experience. Thank you Marina and Mike!

    Susan2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Marina are such thoughtful, kind, and caring hosts! We felt perfectly at home in the cozy room in their beautiful home, where we were welcomed by Bella (their sweet dog), tunes playing throughout the day, and a lovely spread for breakfast each morning. They’re the type of people you want to sit down with and chat with for hours, and we’re excited to come back soon!!

    Diana2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mike & Marina are awesome hosts! They welcomed us immediately, showed us around, and were very accommodating throughout our stay. They are both so personable, friendly, and truly enjoy hosting! Set in a beautiful piece of land, once occupied by The Meeting School and currently occupied by South of Monadnock Community, a forming intentional community, the yurt is a rustic, peaceful and unique home for families looking to spend quiet time in the beautiful Monadnock Region.
The yurt is a Bill Copperthwaite design built in 1974 to serve a faculty housing for the school. It is about 35' in diameter with a small inner yurt serving as the upstairs bedroom. Additionally, there is a pull out futon and sleeping spaces for small people in the "nook." There is wood heat with a gas backup, a full kitchen, bathroom with laundry and solar electricity.
The South of Monadnock Community strives to live well together in a way that supports and challenges us to live into our best selves, collectively and individually. We are working towards our best vision for the future and to honor this property’s history by building authentic community consistent with Quaker practices and principles that prioritizes purposeful, joyful living, peacework, place-based education and Earth stewardship, including diverse, sustainable agriculture and wild-space conservation.
  • This is by far my favorite Airbnb, the yurt is just wonderful! From the inside out, it has so much character. My boyfriend and I loved eating breakfast at the table while looking out the window at the beautiful cow named Vanilla Bean, the sheep, and the chickens! Hannah and Dan are so kind and thoughtful, they have truly thought of every detail to make any stay wonderful! Even in the chilly and rainy weather, my boyfriend and I had a blast playing with board games they provided, attempting some puzzles, and reading some of the many books they have in the lovely book nook all while listening to some tunes through the awesome Bluetooth speaker! This place will truly hold a special place in my heart forever! Thank you so much Hannah and Dan!

    Annarose2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at this yurt was an incredible weekend getaway for my wife and I. From the moment you arrive, you will see all the touches Dan and Hannah put into this place to accommodate your every need with firewood and kindling near the wood burning stove, an incredible selection of books, and even fresh eggs. If you are looking for a weekend getaway/ tech free weekend I’d highly recommend coming up here to Rindge NH and staying at Hannah and Dan’s incredible Yurt.

    Chris2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is adorable! If you’re looking for a quiet, rustic stay in a neat community and a unique “house”: look no further than Dan and Hannah’s yurt! We were there in the dead of winter so it took a bit of adjusting to get the place warm and the pipes did freeze a bit but Dan and Hannah were so responsive and helped us right away. It was perfect for our quiet NYE weekend getaway with our two pups to just relax and escape time/work/etc. before jumping into 2018. We will definitely be back in warmer weather. It was such a serene and peaceful location, and so easy to get to! Definitely recommended for anyone looking to just get away in a sweet and cozy way!

    Corie2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Hannah and Dave’s Yurt was like a fairytale. They welcomed us as soon as we got there with cookies and warm hospitality! We did not want to leave! While there are some cute towns around, we found it hard to leave the property. The yurt is cozy and enchanting, it felt like a hobbit hole! The farm around the area was wonderful for fresh air, and there are some great woods out back to hike around. They kept the yurt stocked with necessities, and the sky light above the very comfortable bed was perfect for star gazing. 2 nights was not enough! We plan on visiting again!

    Juliana2018-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt was truly amazing. Very clean and cozy. Hannah and family were very welcoming. Overall, a dreamy experience.

    Emma2019-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is our third time staying in the yurt. It has been a special place for us to get away while still feeling connected. We love talking to Hannah and Dan and their children, and greeting the animals. We always go on hikes in the area then return back to the yurt to cook and relax with some local cider. Even as guests, staying in the yurt makes us feel like we are part of their Monadnock community. We look forward to staying again in the fall.

    Cami2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Hannah and Dan’s yurt is wonderful. We loved the 360 degree view of the beautiful woods, the quiet and privacy. The wood stove with plenty of seasoned wood, the book nook, homemade syrup, freshly gathered eggs and pancake mix made for a cozy home away from home. We happened to plan our visit during an extreme cold snap in November, 2 degrees one night, but we were toasty warm. We would definitely love to stay there again.🌲❄️❤️

    Therese2018-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I booked our stay only a week or so before going to the yurt! It was the perfect spot! We loved it. The yurt is much bigger than we imagined inside and it is the cutest spot! We loved being on the farm & were so thankful for the generosity and helpful nature of the hosts. What a lovely spot hosted by a lovely family! Definitely worth it and we hope to be back.

  • We got moved to another house on another lake, but it was lovely. A bit disappointed at the move, but the replacement was beautiful too. Beds comfortable, views spectacular. Hot tub a bit small. Lots of information on the house and surrounding area provided. Would stay here again for sure!

    Phil2015-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Paul was great. He provided us with thorough directions on how to get to the property and what we would need to bring with us. He was also quick to respond to any questions. He called to check in and see how we were doing and to ask if we needed anything, which was very thoughtful. When we arrived, Paul had left us party hats, blowers, and a bottle of champagne to enjoy on New Years. The house was so cute and quaint. The kitchen is large enough to have multiple people cooking in it at once. It is also open to the living area so you can cook, but still engage with others. It also has an outdoor and indoor fire, which we took advantage of, making the house feel so cozy. The hot tub was perfect and one of our favorite nights was sitting in it talking, while snow fell around us. The ping pong table was utilized all weekend long, providing hours of fun. The house is also located right near hiking trails, and cute antique stores. We had an amazing time and look forward to staying in the cabin again.

    Sarah2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in Paul and Anne's wonderful house. Everything you could possibly need during a vacation, it's already in the house: Hot tub, pool table, ping-pong table, fireplace, bikes, canoe, kayaks, tons of family games, books, movies and so on. Very warm welcome, very well maintained house. You feel at home instantly. Was a very nice experience, we definitely consider to come again...

    Patric2014-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed Paul’s place. The home is roomy with lots of places to hang out or relax. You could easily sleep a dozen people throughout the space. There are plenty of kitchen supplies so everything I needed was within reach. The property has a couple of firepits and a dock which were worth checking out even in late fall. The views were spectacular. I would definitely rent again.

    Pilar2018-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • 12 of my college friends and I took a road trip to Paul's place during our spring break. We had a blast! We had such a great time we want to make this an annual trip. Paul left us a box of luxurious chocolate cookies on the table with a long and detailed note when we walked in, the hot tub was bubbling, and everything was just perfect for a group of friends. Paul was already ready to answer any questions on the phone or text. The house was well equipped for any cooking, and we loved the lake and the boats. The only thing to note is that we had no phone service and the wifi signal was weak. It was a bit inconvenient but in some ways it was better than we were totally offline. Thanks Paul!

    Chan Mi2016-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a family friendly house that is in a quiet and beautiful spot but close drive to activities, this is the place! Paul is wonderful, quick to respond, and incredibly helpful and thoughtful as a host. The house had everything we needed for multiple couples and a baby. Beautiful view of the pond, game room, hot tub, nice open living space for talking, fires and games. We can't wait to book this place again soon!!!

    Malory2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • I fell in love with Paul's house immediately! Right from the moment when I walked in, I noticed the cozy décor and attention to detail on the decorations, amenities and comfort items for anything I could or would need! Binoculars for seeing a rare red headed woodpecker? Check! waterproof matches for an impromptu fire by the lake? check! Extra towels, sheets and blankets for an unexpected guest on an unusually cold New England summer evening? Check! I almost used the woodstove :) Wireless internet to check nearby hikes? Check! Solar panels? Wait, I didn't expect that one... check anyway! I also cannot express how beautiful and magical the view of the lake is - completely restorative, even on such a short trip! Thank you Paul and Anne for a wonderful experience, I hope to be back again and again!

  • We spent 5 wonderful nights in Spruce house and thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the lake, hiking Monadnock, and checking out the quaint surrounding villages. The house is very comfortable and perfect for a large group. And Payson and Susan were quick to answer any questions!.

  • The only negative thing I have to say about this place was how short lived our stay was. My family absolutely adored the house and everything it had to offer. Very spacious, a beautiful lake just a stones throw away and our host was nothing short of hospitable and accommodating. Thanks again for allowing our family the opportunity for a memorable weekend!

    Matthew2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic girls weekend we had in Dublin. Set up perfectly for a large group the house with all it's bedrooms and bathrooms, large cooks kitchen and beautiful lakeside setting was exactly what we all needed for our Labor Day weekend getaway. Payson was great to work with throughout the process, always attentive and responsive as I planned the weekend. I can't say enough great things and would highly recommend.

Our family house is in the woods, steps from Stone Pond. Loll on the deck, cook gourmet meals, gather in the living room by the fireplace. Sit by the lake, paddle the canoe, or swim in crystal-clear lake water. Hike through the woods or to the top of Mt. Monadnock (at 3165 feet, the most-climbed mountain in the United States). Dine or shop in the nearby college town of Keene, see summer theater in Peterborough, or hear Monadnock classical and other music concerts in the region. Pets welcome.
Our parents built this house in the 1972, and spent their summers here after they retired. We are making it available to guests during most of the summer and early fall (good for fall colors!), when we are not enjoying it ourselves. The house is not winterized, so we close it up every fall after the leaf-viewing season and reopen it in late spring. It is a simple house. The large common area (26.5 by 14.75) has a dining table, two comfy couches, and a central fireplace, and opens onto a deck that overlooks the lake. There is a large master bedroom (12.5 by 16.5) on the lower floor off the basement storage area (it can be chilly, so use of the baseboard heating is often needed even in July and August). The other bedrooms are just big enough for a bed, chest of drawers, and closet. The main bedroom upstairs, right nest to the bathroom, has a queen bed and is 11 by 11. Two smaller bedrooms (10 by 10 and 8 by 10) have two single beds each, which can be pushed together for a couple. There is a small table in the kitchen as well as an electric stove and oven, fridge, dishwasher and microwave, and enough pots and pans for gourmet cooking. There are a washer and dryer on the lower floor, off the bathroom). The pantry is well-stocked with spices, dried goods and wines which guests are welcome to use; we ask that if you run out of something, replace it for the next guest (or us!). There is a large chest in the common area with toys; there are puzzles and games, children's art supplies, and a number of children's books as well as adult reading, a small stereo system with a CD player and CD's. But no TV. There are various guidebooks and maps for local hiking: If you are around for a few days, you should make sure to spend a half-day hiking to the top of Mt. Monadnock on one of the dozen trails to the top, but there are plenty of other good hikes around -- just walking to the other side of the lake is a pleasure. A notebook offers suggestions for local activities and cultural offerings and favorite eateries in the surrounding towns (especially downtown Marlborough, Peterborough, Dublin and Keene). Our beach, thirty yards from the house, is grassy and always in shade; if you prefer to sit in the sun in between bathing, walk down to the town beach 400 hundred yards away. Our parking area is big enough for two small cars; there is more room for parking along the road. The temperature may reach the 90's down in Keene and Marlborough, but it is always pleasant up at the lake. Note, though, that you may want a sweater for the evening, even in mid-summer. The house has baseboard heating in all rooms, each with a separate thermostat.
Stone Pond is a pristine, deep lake, ideal for swimming. The house is secluded; the lake is clearly visible through the trees from the house and deck, but set far back enough from the water's edge for a feeling of privacy. The woods provide just enough screening that you will feel isolated from the road and the houses on either side; if you see the neighbors it will be out on the lake, or running or walking their dogs along Stone Pond Road. You will see an occasional canoe, sunfish or kayak, and there are a couple of motorboats. but most of the time the quiet is lovely. There is a boat entry point near the town beach if you have brought your own boat. A wooden canoe is available for guest use. Marlborough has a few small cafes and a decent small grocery store, and the Dublin General Store is a landmark. Supermarkets and a wide range of dining options (from fine dining to fast food) are 20 to 40 minutes away. Keene is closest, with a state university, picturesque town square and walkable Main Street (featured in the Robin Williams file "Jumanji"!). Peterborough (Thornton Wilder's "Our Town") has more dining, and is the home of the Peterborough Players, a top-notch summer repertory theater. There are a variety of musical performances around throughout the summer. Jaffrey has a range of arts and crafts shops as well as an inn with a fine restaurant. "Friendly Farm" in Dublin and Twinkletown mini-golf in Keene will appeal to the kids. A number of suggestions can be found in a notebook in the house.
  • Beautiful cabin in New Hampshire.

  • If you want to get in touch with nature, this lakehouse has it all! I love the livingroom; there is a deck off it that overlooks the pond. Water felt so nice and clean. Paul’s wooden canoe is a nice add to our trip. This place is not fancy but has enough touches to feel comfortable. There is a town beach that’s pretty close by-5 mins walk from the house. It has a few picnic tables, grill, portable potty and nice grass area.

  • If you are looking for some beauty and solitude which great hiking and swimming, stay at the Stone Pond House

    Aliah2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • A very private home, so very quiet. Enjoyed hearing the wildlife at night and the birds during the day. The pond is more like a lake, clean. Enjoyed using the tubes on the lake. We needed a place to unwind, enjoy nature, see stars at night, enjoy the water, This location was perfect for us . The home is spacious, in the woods, clean. No Tv, but for us, that was great. Listening to music, reading, spending time outdoors. We put this trip together in 3 days. Paul was great in quick turnaround. Hope to go back again soon.

Located midway between The Dublin School and Dublin Lake, atop historic Dublin Village, this classic cedar shake year-round summer house is filled with art and open spaces. You're a seven minute walk from the base of Mount Monadnock's famous Pompelli Trail. By car, Keene is 20 minutes and Peterborough is 8 minutes. Explore other nearby charming villages, such as Harrisville, Hancock, and Jaffrey. It's also a wonderful area for cycling, and stopping at a quaint general store for refreshment!
The room is on the second floor, with two twin beds and its own private bathroom. We have the two twins moved together to form a seamless king-size bed, but it can be configured either way you want (Airbnb requires us to choose one type of bed or another in the listing). You have a shared entry to the house, but a private staircase, which allows you to come and go as you please. My husband and I look forward to hosting you in our three story summer house, which has been converted into a comfortable year round residence. Our dog, Mellie, is very friendly and does not bark -- she loves visitors, but is a very calm greeter.
The house overlooks Dublin Village, with views of the Village Circle and the church steeple below, set against the Peterborough mountains. We are neighbors to Dublin School, which in summer hosts the Walden School music concerts and choral singing (not audible from the house, but a delightful walk away). Mount Monadnock access trails and Dublin Lake are a five minute walk down the street.
  • Rosemary and David have a beautiful house. Our room was very comfortable and peaceful. As first time hosts, they struggled to get the WiFi working in our room, but offered up their phone for streaming video. Fortunately they also have an amazing book collection and I got lost reading as I fell asleep.

  • Rosemary & David’s dome was so beautiful. We were welcomed with an open door and their friendly, happy dog. They were super hosts who let us check in early to accommodate our travel plans. We appreciate the easy communications and kind extra touches.

The playroom has a pingpong table and jungle gym as well as toys for younger children. There are board games and puzzles in the dining room. There are two bedrooms with queen beds, one with full bathroom and one with 1/2 bathroom. Another one with a double and a sink. There is a seperate laundry room with washer and dryer. There is a screened porch as well as a large outdoor porch.
The house is in historic Fitzwilliam, located in the SW corner of New Hampshire in what is known as the "Monadnock Region" (named for the famous Mt. Monadnock and a 15 minute drive from the property). It is beautiful, rural country and a great escape from the pace of city life. Laurel Lake is one of the few spring-fed lakes in the area and has a public boat launch. Nearby towns of interest are Keene (20 minutes), Jaffrey (15 minutes) Peterborough (20 minutes) and Brattleboro, VT (30 minutes). Antique shops, art galleries and music festivals are just some of the local attractions. There is great hiking on Mt. Monadnock with views all the way to Boston from the summit.
  • This is a place that gives families the time, simplicity, and space to relax together and reconnect. All of the happiness and love of many generations fills the air. This is a wonderful setting for extended families and friends to gather. There is a lot for everyone to do at the house, the lake, and in the Monadnock region. This is a one of a kind property that is very special today more than ever.

    Betsy2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful house, well tended, organized and cared for. We would definitely sign on again!

    Rosemary2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Helen was wonderful - we communicated before my trip as well as while my family was at the house. We loved the house, the lake and the whole experience.

    Gaynor2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, charming home on a pristine lake.

    Gaynor2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb experience, and Helen and Stuart were exceptionally patient and gracious with my lists of questions. The house was exactly as described, but there is no way to describe how special this home is and how grateful we felt to be able to stay there. It's been built and cared for with love over generations of this family, and the result is a living museum of life and love. It's a magical place, filled with antiques, and everything you need to feel comfortable and welcome. The area is safe and quiet and feels very private. We saw deer and a chipmunk and loons on the lake. The path from the house to the lake is like a something from a fairytale. It is lined with wild ferns and beautiful trees and dappled light and plenty of roots to plant your footing. Then you emerge to a crystal clean private dock and float for a perfectly refreshing swim. The house was very clean and the kitchen was spotless and stocked with anything you could ever want to cook with. I live in a small apartment in New York so the vastness of this house took my breath away. There were only four of us there. Our two kids are 7 & 9 years old and the playroom was a constant source of wonder for them. They never picked up their electronics all week. The playroom is stocked with with toys from all eras, all organized so that each toy is more inviting than the next to play with. The kids were in heaven. And happy kids on vacation means a much nicer experience for mom and dad. Helen was extremely sweet and lovely to us. I couldn't say enough about how much we loved our visit and how highly I would recommend her as a host.

    Julie2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very magical place. It is a rustic home that has obviously been lived in and loved for many generations. So many of the everyday items in the kitchen or the dining room have been there for decades. The house is utterly charming, and so roomy. We had three generations there, and everyone was happy! The little ones spent hours in the playroom, and nearly as much time outside on the huge lawn, throwing and kicking balls. We all found our favorite places to curl up with a book, and spent one evening around the fireplace listening to my son read out loud. The massive stone fireplace was wonderful. The lake is beautiful; the dock is big enough for several to set comfortably and watch the water antics! The tennis courts were fantastic - my daughter really improved her game this week playing with her dad. I really can't say enough about how privileged we felt to enjoy a home filled with so many memories and lovely things. The house itself feels full of happiness and love. We all agreed that this was the best vacation we could remember.

    Deborah2018-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our 10 days in the country at this expansive and uniquely historic cabin stocked with games and books and puzzles -- even indoor ping pong! Though amateurs, the store of rackets inspired us to give the tennis court a try as well. On chilly nights we gathered around the grand fireplace to read or play games or just chat. The outdoor porch, replete with swing, was also a popular gathering spot. The pristine lake was a lovely highlight around which our days revolved, and the raft and boats well used, while the town of Fitzwilliam offered antique and art surprises, as well as excellent food at the Fitzwilliam Inn for a date night out. Our hosts were attentive and easily reached; we appreciated their prep for our stay and the informative material prepared for guests, which we referenced throughout our time there.

  • There was no way we could have anticipated how beautiful and comfortable this place is. Imagine enjoying the outdoors of New Hampshire and returning to a home that looks like a villa in the south of France. There is the best and the rest and Carolyn and Charlie are the creators and hosts of the best. They are nothing short of ideal hosts. Cordial, generous, there when you need them and so respective of your privacy that you feel the gorgeous pool and grounds are yours. We love this place and are looking forward to coming back as often as we can.

  • Carolyn was an incredibly kind and welcoming host and the guest house is truly stunning! It was an absolute joy waking up each morning in such a beautiful setting and we came away from the weekend very refreshed. Large home on the Aldworth Manor Estate, just down the hill from the Manor's south side. This home has very large living, kitchen and common areas, along with 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. It can sleep up to 10-12 guests (1 king, 1 queen, 5 twins, 1 twin trundle and sofa pullout). Two night min. on weekends and holidays.
In the historic, preserved mill town of Harrisville, NH, the home is within 10 miles of Keene and Peterborough, NH. The Harrisville General Store in town is great for breakfast or lunch, along with a good variety of provisions and goods.
  • This house was amazing and the owner did everything he could to ensure we had a great vacation.

  • This place is great. The pictures doesn’t do it justice. If you have a big family, this is the place. Plenty of parking, rooms for your guest to sleep. I used the place for a family gathering, houses are far enough apart that you don’t disturb the neighbors.

    Ritz2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Headmaster's House for a recording session at a nearby studio and the place was perfect. It easily accommodated our large group and provided plenty of space and opportunities for us to cook together, eat together and connect together. Shane was super responsive and accommodating. For the rest of the band, this was their first time staying in an Airbnb and Shane and the Headmaster's House were perfect examples of what makes Airbnb awesome.

    Greg2018-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Headmaster's House and the Lodge were the perfect location for hosting a large family gathering! The accommodations were clean and comfortable and Shane was quick to respond to all our needs during a snowy weekend! Would highly recommend renting either house.

Thirty nine places to eat. All within 10 miles, from Dunkin Donuts, sub shops,Mickey D's, Kimball's ice cream, to fine dining. The cabin is set back, across the driveway from the main house. It is quiet, scenic, and completely private. Everyone welcome. While there is one bedroom with double bed there is also a single bed in the sunroom, and a cot can be added to accommodate a small family.
  • Bill's place is in lovely west New Hampshire. If you like historical places to live in and explore, this area and colonial cabin is for you. The cabin is right near the entrance to a state park --a place for hiking and scenic views. The area is very quiet and peaceful and a great place to chill out without the usual media (no tv or radio, or wifi.) Bill knew the area well and offered many suggestions about what to do and see, and, where to eat.

    Eleanor2017-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very charming space. I love the barn feel and high ceilings. It got chilly so we got to use the fireplace.

  • Bill's place is beautiful, serene and well equipped. We stayed for a wedding at the Shattuck (conveniently located adjacent to the property) but would return for the peaceful vibe of this lovely cottage. Nearby downtown Jaffrey, Mt. Monadnock and swimming are close by as well. Bill was super friendly, accommodating and communicated well. We would definitely return and tell our friends about Bill's place!

    Shannon2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Bill was a great host - he was open to us coming a bit early for check-in, had the place open for us so we could enter at our leisure, and checked in with us briefly to make sure we felt at home. He lives on the property, but was not at all intrusive and we felt that we had privacy and that the cottage was a great place to relax on our own. It was a great place for us to stay for the weekend and we loved having peace and quiet in gorgeous scenery.

We typically rent from Sunday to Sunday. We are located in south central NH, our home rests beside Scott Pond with a panorama of the pond and a distant view of Mt Monadnock. Only 23 minutes from Keene, 1 hour 45 mins from Boston, we are a private and peaceful getaway venue. There are two swimming ponds just 5 miles away and one is especially dog-friendly. The Cheshire Rail Trail which is 21 miles long and goes from Keene through Fitzwilliam on its way to Northfield.
Private and peaceful, Scott Pond offers the best of a pond with fishing and wildlife but without jet skis or power boats.
We are the last house on a dead end road with 426 feet of pond frontage with no houses visible across the pond.
  • Had a great stay. Tom's thoughtful and detailed communication made everything stress free. I arrived to a counter full of local fresh veggies from the community farm down the road. My dog, Maggie, and I enjoyed our stay immensely. The house is comfortable and very much felt like home. I will definitely be returning!

  • There were 14 of us for two nights, a graduate school group retreat. Seems to be used a lot for weddings, which makes sense. Pros: secluded location, spacious, everything works. Cons: none, really. Pros: - Surroundings: beautiful wooded property just down the hill from the main manor itself, very private (though watch out if weather's bad - it's a curvy, sloped dirt road) - Space/layout: lots of separate rooms with a range of bed sizes, dining room, living room, small study space, etc. Great for individuals/small groups to do their own thing but also meet up as needed. - Everything worked, from heat to stove to... Cons: None, really. - Nearby Harrisville essentially has one general store and not much else. Definitely much more of a rural escape experience than anything urbane, but why otherwise would you go to rural SW NW?

    Marco2017-03-05T00:00:00Z

  • This home was perfect for our large group of friends attending a wedding in the area. There were numerous bedrooms to accommodate 18 of us. The house was very clean and well kept with all the amenities we could need. The beds were all very comfortable! Shane was a wonderful host and even brought us fresh eggs on Sunday morning. He was available via text all weekend if we had questions or concerns. Everyone agreed the house was lovely. Highly recommend!

    Zach2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Shane and the Aldworth Manor lodge were both fantastic. I booked the lodge for a group retreat (15 people) so it was extremely helpful to have it stocked with sheets, towels, kitchen supplies, etc. We arrived earlier than our original check-in time but Shane allowed us to check-in to the lodge early, and we were also able to book larger meeting room space up at the Manor itself. Shane made it all really easy. We had 15 people staying at the lodge and it was more than enough space for us. The kitchen had everything we needed and was clearly designed to accommodate large groups. The surrounding area and the Aldworth Manor grounds were also awesome to explore. Overall great experience!

Take advantage of the extensive hiking opportunities, antique and flea markets, nearby good public tennis courts and State parks.
Our cottage has been in the family for over 100 years. We love it's simplicity, quiet, location and beauty. Waking up in the morning to the sound of birds outside the screened porch and the splash of a paddle or swimmer is about the best therapy for busy lives we know. There are cottages on either side along the lake and a couple across the lake road.
  • Brad and his wife met us at the cabin even though we ended up about 2 hours after we had originally hope to get there. He was easy to get hold of before and during our stay. He welcomed us warmly, immediately gave us a tour and showed us how things worked, and left us to relax. This cabin isn't for everyone and it is exactly as advertised -- it was perfect for us. We appreciated the bare studs, camp style furnishings, outside shower, access to kayaks, rowboat, canoe that gave us the true cabin on a lake in NH experience -- one that brought back fond memories from my childhood. We also appreciated the well stocked kitchen (glassware, cooking utensils, spices, etc). The setting can't be beat -- we heard the loons on three separate mornings - that was a real treat. The neighbors we met were all friendly. Wish we had stayed longer.

  • It was a perfect week. We've just returned after a two day drive from NH with sand in our car and slightly wet suits from a last dip and kayak in the lake. The cottage is right out of "ON GOLDEN POND": rustic but every amenity, WiFi and no TV, landline but no cell phone service. Books galore and an excellent well-stocked kitchen (complete with ice machine, microwave, and two outdoor grills). The place is just the spot if you want to unwind away from it all (but also near to everything the Monadnock region has to offer), don't mind an outdoor shower (we didn't), an airy sleeping porch and other cozy bedrooms, and a large dock literally out the porch door. Sunsets and sun from 11am all day on the dock/raft were enjoyed daily as were the 2 kayaks, canoe, and sailboats. The weather didn't fail us, either. Only two brief storms came through on two afternoons. Some evenings were cool and we had fires in the fireplace. The lack of TV was not missed and our teenage boys actually avoided their iPads much of the time (preferring the lake as much as possible). They even went fishing, caught, and ate their catch with two of their old school buddies from when we lived here. We loved the cottage in the pines and the shallow swimming up to the raft (where it deepens) and the house would be ideal for a respectful family or couple(s). Our family included five, with guests in and out all week, and I still felt I always had a bit of privacy if I wanted a rest, nap, or read in the afternoon. We felt welcome and grateful to be able to enjoy a historic place in the same family since 1899. You can't "buy" that any where -- we just enjoyed and relaxed and truly reconnected with the New Hampshire summers that we love and miss. This family cottage exceeded every expectation that I had, and more, and I would happily stay there again if allowed. Thank you for a memorable experience and the perfect New Hampshire vacation!
